Thank you for this video. I watched several trying to find out why my beautiful pink flower had drained of its color. You gave a great explanation and now I understand how this needs to be cared for which apparently the florist was not aware of. I am disappointed that it is at the end of its life cycle, but I do have one pup and hopefully I can nurture that one into a bloom eventually. Thanks again.

Thanks for sharing - it is a shame when the wonderful flower starts to fade. However, great that you have a pup, so hopefully you will be able to help that grow to a new full plant and get a flower when it's ready 🤗💮

I’m waiting for one of these to arrive soon. It’s been shipped. I did not know they die! I’m bummed at that. I hope I will get a few years at least out of mine. thank you for the tips and care. The pups are adorable.

Thanks for watching! I didn't when I first had one of these. However, they're similar to other Bromeliad type plants, so even though the main plant dies, they should 'continue' with new plants via the pups 😊 I think I made this video a while ago and the leaves of the main plant are still lush and green even though the flower is gone.

@@growyourwellbeing Thank you. My plant arrived with a flower and it’s gorgeous. It’s everything I hoped for. I’m just going to take care of it the best way I can and hope it lasts.

I get bargain buys in Tescos in the morning before work , I have not paid more than 3 or 4 quid a plant and a shiny ceramic pot also if the plant does die , But Touch wood not had any major deaths last few buys , had to split and repot some flamingos

Good finds! Glad to hear yours are doing well 😊 You can get some great bargains in Tesco. If you have any nearby, Morrisons tend to have a good selection at bargain prices. Lidl have some great ones but they are hit and miss as to when they have plant stock. Sainsburys are good for plants with nice ceramic pots. As you can tell, I've scouted all the shops for plants! 🌱

Mine never died, it did send out pups. I separated them all off, and the ‘mother’ produced more pups, and the pups produced pups. No flowers!

Hiya, Have you ever tried propagating these in water to start with until roots develop ? The same as you would with a Pineapple head ? I propagated two pups about 6 months ago but although they are alive and growing they haven't developed any roots yet.

Hi, thanks for watching and the question. I have tried leaves in water, which develop roots much like other props do. I've not put pups in water (have done it with pineapple though!). I would usually wait for the pups to get bigger, about 1/3 the size of the mother or more, then they should develop some roots of their own. I don't see why it shouldn't work though. However, they can be incredibly slow! I've got one leaf in soil that's been there about a year - the leaf is still green and it has roots but no new growth, whereas I've also had others in soil which are green but no roots after months! Maybe try them in soil instead (or use a bit of rooting hormone to prompt them to root). I hope they do root - still a good sign they're alive and growing though. 🌱💚

Hi Mary, thanks for watching. These should be available in most garden centres and some plant shops. Some homeware stores that sell plants might have them too. They are coming into season, lots of Bromeliad varieties available now, so keep an eye out for them. 🌸
