Keely Smith sings several of the great songs from her career, including "I Got a Right to Sing the Blues," "I Wish You Love," "That Old Black Magic," "I'll Walk Alone," and "It's Magic," in this rare TV appearance from 1983.

She was 55 then and sounded as if she was still in her twenties... easily one of the best singing voices of her generation.

This woman had one of the greatest voices I've ever heard! She had a purity and solidity to her voice that made her stand alone. Her delivery was impeccable. Classy. When someone truly is a skilled and gifted singer, they don't always need to do acrobatics.

So many technically pure skilled vocalists from my parents and grandparents Era. It was born of a fusion of jazz, blues, Broadway, romantic ballads and Vaudeville showmanship . Keeley was one of those elegant lady chanteuses of her day. She was an actress in song making the lyrics alive with emotion. While vocal acrobatics do have their place, for her they were unnecessary and just a distraction from the intent of the composer. Keeley was a poet's best friend. No gimmicks, no fireworks, no clouds rising off the stage, no backup singers to disguise errors in a performance, and no soundtrack trickery to cleanse the air of offensive sounds. We miss the beautiful vocal presence of this sister of song 🎵 😢

Why Isn't she listed among the greats? Keely Smith was extremely underrated, I mean mind-blowingly underrated if that's even a word lol, her voice puts me in a state of euphoria, she had perfect pitch and the ability to make a song a powerful emotional experience, she was not only an amazing singer/musician but she was art itself, she seems like the type of singer who could sing anything if she wanted to, her voice would apeal to anyone, Keely Smith was really something, thanks for blessing us with your beautiful and angelic voice, rest in peace.

Heard her doing backup with Louis Prima singing Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody (highly recommend) and after hearing the small bits she sang wanted to hear her sing something solo. It was definitely worth the search finding this. 👍👍

I don't remember ever hearing her before. But tonight I was listening to "Radio Deluxe," the jazz radio program with John Pizzareli and Jessica Molaskey. When she came on, my ears perked up. How come I hadn't heard her before? So I had to do a KZfaq search. Full, rich sounding voice.
