Your demonstration with the dry erase marker (starting at 3:46) was so simple, so elegant, and SO HELPFUL. Why haven't any of the other sources I've been using explained it so quickly and so well?!?

Im still trying to understand the last part on how accelerate is to the north
@AeroNerd
@AeroNerd 6 сағат бұрын
@@LordBagdanoff Let’s say the magnet on a compass is attached to the “N” part of the compass. If you were to look at the compass from the top looking down at it, you’ll notice the compass is a circular disc being balanced on a point in the middle like a spindle. The magnet is submerged in kerosene to allow it to freely move when the aircraft is turning and the magnet will have little effort being attracted to the north magnetic pole. Since there is a weight on the circular disc (compass) on one side, it offsets the balance of the compass disc. So if you were to accelerate or decelerate, it will throw off what the magnet “suppose” to do. The inertia of the acceleration will cause the disc to swing backward toward you giving you a false error, and vise versa when decelerating. I hope that makes sense 😬
