Stunning jacket and that fit/cut for you is about as good as it gets Dale. I bought a pair of Kato jeans last year and have been really impressed. They’ve worked their way into consistent rotation for me.

14 minutes in, I’m sold on the Target Goodfellows jacket! I personally hate denim fading if I bought it “dark” so that’s a pro in my eyes. I understand it’s stiffer and takes longer to break in, but that makes it still feel and look “new” after 50 wears like you’ve had with it. Still looks beautiful!

The rate that indigo transfers from denim doesn't really indicate quality. A good example is comparing Samurai Jeans to Iron Heart jeans. IH is notorious for being very slow faders and Samurai jeans are just as notorious for being quick faders. Both are quality Japanese made garments made of high quality denim, yet have different fading characteristics. It all depends on how that denim was processed and dyed. Also that Target denim jacket seems to have a tighter weave to it, which will add to it's rigidness. Stretch denim tends to be softer to the touch and is more drapey than 100% cotton raw denim.

i'm back to this review because i'm considering getting this jacket. as a big dude i'm afraid of pleats! but sizing wise on their website, the XXL should fit me pretty good! pleats on pants were always terrible on me. my thighs were always too thick and the pleats always felt like it created a spotlight!

I had purchased that jacket, but I didn’t like the fit in the chest. It was too slim fitting. I opted for the Sugar Cane Denim type 2 version. Another great Selvedge denim jacket is the brave star Kaihara mill type 3 jacket, which I also have. It’s a great jacket for someone on a budget.

I do not like the pleats on the side that are stitched at regular intervals down the side of each opening it makes the fabric pull at each of those tack locations which to me brings to mind a guy putting on a shirt that is too small and the fabric pulls at each button

I get the point of a catchy title, but "greatest denim jacket ever"...With all due respect, that would leave out all the Samurai Jeans, Iron Heart, The Strike Gold, Studio d´ Artisan, Momotaro etc etc etc... in our denim world. Plus, it most likely is not just the love put into a garment that you pay. Choosing a Japanese denim mentioned above (or a high-quality Swedish (e.g. Indigofera) or US-made (Rogue Territory and others) will also assure you a hand-made product where work conditions and products are correct. No cutting corners there. And this is also what you pay for. Now regarding pricing: Whether can spend that type of money or not, is not my point. I get that it is very expensive buying Japanese, but my point is that you buy high quality and that pays off if you consider the time span you will be able to wear it. I have Japanese denim Jeans for 8 years plus that I still wear. A Levi´ s would hold me a year and is dead. Do the math yourselves.
