A ship, stranded in time. William Parker is plagued with cryptic dreams. Ever since becoming stranded in time with his crew, his dreams have only become more realistic. With no clear plan of action, Parker and his crew must dive into the fringes of known (and unknown) science to investigate this dream if they ever hope to survive. Real laws of physics are at play in a story that dares to wonder, 'What if...'.

I enjoyed the serenity of all actors ! bravo ! I applaud the use of science fact & theory (at least the onces I am familiar with). As you emphasized that dreams and visions of a universe with planets & stars, so do I hope that all those who are aware of the flat earth imagine and create a glorious future where men and women can travel into space : to infinity and beyond..... NOTE: For the 1st time since long the lead character showed me beauty, heart, empathy and above these trust which I crave to posses in my life right now. Marvelous, splendid - I am and I am not , there never was a question.

Most of these kind of movies, I get but not this one. It has nothing to do with being stupid. Don't put yourself down like that. Maybe I'm reading to much into your comment but I hate hearing someone say that they're stupid in any form or fashion. It could be the way it was written that made it unclear. I'm not sure.

Really good, a big thumbs up :-) It's also a possibility that we all live - past, present and future simultaneously, that we create our life's experiences from our thoughts - as we think, so we create. Have you ever thought something only to find yourself a year or two later living out that very thought? We create our future in the moment of the present based on what's happened in the past - you can change something that may not be good for you or have much less negative consequences if you can experience all three aspects of time at the same time - it's like time traveling within the space around you and in you, just a thought.

As a person who thoroughly enjoys short films to the point of passion for the art form, there was a lot of things that I am usually critical of in this film. Yet, in the end, I found this 'hard science' time travel film enchanting. Whenever I was about to give up on it, where I would want to throw up my hands, you brought it back just before it was too late and then doubled down on it. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this, and while I found some of the acting to be questionable (but did not hurt the film overall), I absolutely loved the character of Grey and the actor who portrayed him. I can see myself coming back to this film many times to re-experience it, to understand it better. Really, quite a nice film. 🤙

Woah! Very thought provoking. There’s more to life than just what we see or what we think there is. Very well written script, well executed with excellent, gifted actors, and land’s end (on the beach of the ocean) is the perfect description for what the characters are facing and experiencing. The music pushes it over the top for me, turning it into a very emotional scenario. I loved it.😊 I think they ultimately returned home triumphant.

I liked it...to a point. I thought the acting was fantastic, then it got overly dramatic for me. After some time, I felt like I was being read a book and almost didn't need to look at the screen. The concept and focal point of dialogue were both amazing but I felt it was more of a short story than a short film.

Ok so they made it back to the 1000 yr. mark they were shooting for and collected the data they were suppose to retrieve. But you left me hanging, were they able to make back to their original time, or was this their original at the end? Maybe it is, as you see the sea gulls flying above and the greeting from I suppose is Parker's brother! Anyhoo, it was one of those thinking films where you really need to pay attention to every little detail, I needed this to shake the cobwebs outta those dormant brain cells in my head!

I'm guessing that the man Parker embraced at the end was his own son, Daniel, seen in the photo as a child, but now a grown man. Since it's impossible to reach 1c in a simple universe, they were only enabled to reach 1c by jumping to another universe in the multiverse, but the particular one jumped to would ordinarily be random amongst an infinity of possibilities. The son (in the time-reversed symmetric universe) had sent out a radio message with the equations to make the right jump. The message traveled backwards in time w.r.t. our universe, until it emerged into ours through the Big Bang, where all the universes meet, and traveled forward in time through ours until finally received by Grey and deciphered by Reeves.

I might be able to help. The counter on the ship was at .999999C with C representing the speed of light and once they hit light speed they actually made it into the other universe that had time flowing backwards or in a different direction at least making his brother (who passed away in his regular timeline) now be alive and in his spot because maybe he died instead in that universe. The big hints to this are them talking about different universes right next to each other, but flowing completely different rates of time and the other hint was the dream he had finally came reality and his friends were there at the end looking up at the spaceship the AETHER get destroyed. So they now live in this new timeline.

My problem with sci-fi and time travel theme in particular is that I am too bright to have my intellect taken the piss out of by some films and too dum to grasp the well made and well thought out films. This film thankfully and also frustratingly falls into the latter category. The sci-fi movie paradox.

There are decent references to known scientific concepts. So that was fun. And with any sci-fi, gigantic liberties have to obviously be taken. But, I'm sorry, this old trope of always feeling things have to be overtly wrapped in some supernaturality of souls, spirits, and dreams is just overly simplistic to the point of being a cheat.

Yes this was my suspicion also, that one crew member had already jumped a universe. (Yes have read a lot of sci-fi in my days so the idea came naturally.) Then to set up the Aether mission again to make a new attempt of finding one Earth that havn't been blown up - whatever. But my argument against that is that would not save the Earth that get blown up, instead finding the cause. The dialog where they discussed the physics about relativistic travel could have been done a bit better, it's one thing to simplify, but it can be done a bit too much - as is the case here. The lucid dream idea could have been connected to the hypothesis of the quantum brain also, making the case for that stronger. (Nothing to say it's correct, but good scifi do indeed take possible new ideas and bring it into the story.) The acting is superb, even when not saying anything Grey standing there looking uneasy about the situation, speak volumes. I did interpret the ending as another Lucid dream, and the story to be open ended - not knowing if they failed or not. That ... I liked a lot! Thumbs up ofc. ;)

Nice short, but then I like anything with time travel in it. A few quibbles: problems have been solved throughout history by the same level of consciousness that created them; and at the beginning of the short, they indicate the mission was to go forward, gather data, and come back. Why would they then be surprised that there was a way back? As for the real ending, they all were killed when the mission was originally launched, and this was all the hallucinations of dying brain cells. The whispers are the doctors in the trauma center, and the light is the operating room spotlights.
@SuperEpicJBJ
@SuperEpicJBJ 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Bruce! Very imaginative interpretation of the ending, you might be hitting the mark on a few things ;) As for the “level of consciousness” quote, it can be interpreted as one has to go beyond their original frame of thought in order to move past a problem thought of as impossible. While still a generalization, applied to the world of science and physics, it seems to hold more weight. And for the mission, it was always a risk. There wasn’t a guarantee that they would travel 200 years forward and find the data they need, remember when Grey said that Halprin (the organization they work for) was “being optimistic” because of historical precedent with the “luminiferous aether”. If the data wasn’t there when they arrived...well they’d have another decision to make wouldn’t they? :) Thanks for your comment!

well now that we know in 2019 that FTL travel is in fact possible due to relativity being based on faulty data, i think it would still be impossible to change time that has already happened. therefore when he sees his son all grown up at the end, its because they didn't know any history past what they knew before taking off from that past, and that's why they couldn't go back any further. My other theory was that the signal they were receiving since the "big bang" was a calculation sent to them through time from someone (maybe his son) from the future relative to the time they originally left for the future or it was sent from another universe or dimension.
@SuperEpicJBJ
@SuperEpicJBJ 5 жыл бұрын
Thanx for watching! A lot of cool ideas. Here’s a few bones - Parker and the previous Captain were siblings, the picture is of them as children. -In the world of the film (based on science fact) time is symmetrical. If things are always moving forward, there must be a place where time is naturally moving backwards. You can’t change the past but maybe you can find a universe with a different past. The Big Bang could’ve perhaps created multiple universes....so maybe anything sent from other universes register as very old...food for thought :)

Wondering about a couple of things. One, is that perhaps a bit of an homage to Planet of the Apes, where 4 astronauts travel into the future, but something goes wrong with the woman's hibernation chamber and she ends up dead? Same number of astronauts, time travel, and the woman's death. There is another thing in common with the cast but I won't point that out .... Also, wondering if there is significance to their time travel being 1103 years? The angel number 1103 assures us that everything that happens in our lives is for a reason, that nothing is random, and that every moment of our lives has meaning. We learn that the main character has had these dreams his entire life, and he is certain that the dream on the ship is missing one important detail that will bring the meaning of the dream into clarity.

Excellently epic enlightening and entertaining short film. Evidently, the ending escapes me, eventually evoking something ethereal. Was their endeavor just entanglement exposing the evidence of every multi-verse extended throughout time entrancing them? Who is Daniel? The envelope of my mind bends with engaging questions of the reality entombed in plain sight. The encryption embedded and encoded experiences exist beyond my minds explanation.

How can someone disprove the multiverse theory? :D
@joestewart396
@joestewart396 5 жыл бұрын
Balf82 the same way they were trying to prove it, the math. Physics is all about the math and when the result is 50 times out of the expectation then the math is busted and so is the theory.

Where did you read the article. Iam curious. I never heard of such a accomplishment. And it sounds silly :D . Like you could prove or disprove something like multiverse :) .

12:51 the faster something goes does not mean that it gathers more Mass it simply means that it gathers more inertia the gravity of its impact would increase not the mass. graveity the negative impact exchange with respect to change

slayer 1 I’m no scientist but aren’t you refuting e=mc2? I’m pretty sure one of the guidelines of physics is the faster you go the heavier you get. As soon as you get close to C and you give something a push, that energy has to go somewhere and it goes to mass.
@toolguyslayer1
@toolguyslayer1 5 жыл бұрын
I think my conversation applied to inertial Mass which is like the faster something goes the more of an impact it makes as if to assimilate the object being bigger because of the impact via the speed thus the term inertial Mass so Masters increase with speed accordingly

@@JasonGuySmiley it is not so much E E equals MC square as much as the explanation of Relativity that is most valid not so much the formula itself it is an indirect relation to that which is above is as below relatively speaking if the roots of the plant are not healthy the rest of the plant won't be healthy at all either and vice versa basic relativity

Finally something you can believe in, not a God. Man believing in himself and anything's possible? Believing in something we'll never agree apon will only lead us to keep repeating our mistakes. Parents tell their children, just as I tell mine. Believe in yourself and anything's possible? Anything! Too much faith and fate will have the final say?

SuperEpic Thank you.I have been obsessed with the thoughts of exploring the vast cosmos since my childhood..My dreams are mostly about some new worlds and dimensions.So i came up with the name..Once in my dream when i was trapped in another dimension,one bearded man said”if you are not there then you are somewhere else”This scared the shit out of me ,hhaha ,instantly thought if i was dead.

Cosmic Surfer Stuff like that is always incredible! Scarily realistic dreams were a huge inspiration for the creation of this film. Sometimes it’s hard not to welcome the thought that dreams are a peek into another possible universe, a non-physical exploration of the cosmos.
