Tone Mapping for Local Contrast Enhancement (Affinity Photo)

Although typically used for tone mapping HDR content to SDR, Affinity Photo's Tone Mapping Persona has a secret weapon for enhancing structure in any type of image: the Local Contrast slider. See how to use it in this video.

Wow! "Tone Map for Local Contrast" and "Channel Mixer to Gray" are perhaps the most significant improvements to my Affinity Photo experience. Just these 2 have given new life previously edited so so photos. Looking forward to more of your expert tutorials.

Many thanks for the demo, I found this feature is very powerful and useful. When I select Tone Mapping Persona in a RAW file, it prompts me "Please select an RGB pixel layer before entering Tone Mapping". How do I select this function? Your advise would be appreciated. Many thanks:)

Hi, this could be because you're working with non-destructive RAW-these layers are not technically pixel layers but are instead "RAW layers". I would duplicate your base layer, then right click it and choose Rasterise to convert it to a pixel layer. You should then be able to enter the Tone Mapping Persona. Hope that helps!
