I love love love Lorier!! And the Astra is so cool. The way they’ve applied the lume without sacrificing the polished indices is genius. Also, the acrylic is what makes a Lorier a Lorier and if you don’t understand and appreciate that you don’t need to buy one because it’s not for you.

This is one of the first videos that I've seen that showed off the Kuoe watch. They pop up in my FB feed quite often, and I was always attracted to the designs. Seeing one in the flesh really shows just how lovely it is. Thanks for the Vid!

The Astra is a beautiful homage to the classic time pieces of the mid-20th century. I could see it on the wrist of Don Draper in Mad Men. Definitely my favorite of the 3.

My brother, a story!! I ordered a Breitling Colt, silver dial, 41mm in a bracelet. At my surprise when I received the watch it wasn’t silver, it was cream!!!! At the beginning I was upset and contacted the vendor. After talking to them and whining for a little while they apologized and offered me a credit along with paying the cost for the return. Then the customer representative advised me in an informative matter the following, if I where you I would keep the watch we sent you by mistake. There are not to many of them. You now want I did? I keep it, the watch is astonishing and I have not seen it on another person ever. I get compliments every time I wear it. Cream is the way, at least you should have one in tour collection. It goes with everything!! Thank you for the video!!

Two of these watches are on my shortlist. I had a goal of only trying to purchase watches in person but the Lorier and the Kuoe are making me reconsider that goal. These watches have a very classic and timeless style. I like the attention these microbrands are getting.

I have only one cream and it is Citizen 7 original from 90s era, the watch that my mum left for me before she died. Serviced, works fine with absolute accurate time (+-0 sec a day)

The Lorier Astra is gorgeous, and I think it’s priced really well for what it is. It’s elegant and unique enough to be not a copy of an exact watch, but have enough design similarites with watches from the past to make you feel a certain way when you see it. Can we get a review of that watch?

The Lorier second hand is a thing of beauty with that little pointer at the end. The seconds are the more precise measure of time on most watches and deserves that little point to accurately point at the minutes/seconds track. Of course it's all subjective, but second hands with a ball at the end (I'm looking at you, Mondaine) always look unbalanced to me, and imprecise because of the vagueness of where it's kind of pointing. Nope, the Lorier second hand is perfect. The only thing that could make it better is if they put it (and the rest of the dial) into a 40-42mm watch. Then I could wear it on my 7 3/4" wrist. Love the video, as usual. Always looking forward to the next one.

Great video! There is a neat story behind Kuoe and their watches reflect the historic charm of Kyoto. I put mine on a green and brown NATO strap with the sapphire crystal.

Great trio review, Max! For me, it's a draw between the Kuoe and Lorier; the Boldr isn't bad, but I have more than one watch in that category I actually prefer. Definitely looking forward to more solid but wallet-friendly reviews.

One thing to note about these dial colors is that as you age and your eyes get worse, they get harder to read. I had the same problem with my SARB035 which ended up with me selling it about a year ago. That said, the Lorier is gorgeous.

Great video! RE the Lorier second hand having the pin after the bubble, I personally like that as it makes it much easier to identify the exact second when setting.

Recently got a Lorier Hyperion Skyward edition, white dial and silver hands, in the last drop they did. I was so hyped to get it it. When it arrived the bezel insert was way off, lots of dust under the dial and a dark blemish on the white dial. I was extremely disappointed in this as I heard the QC was really good. Granted, I emailed them right away, Lauren sent me a fed ex label and shipped it back to them after having it less than 24 hours. They said they will fix the mistakes and send it back to me. Hoping it is a quick turnaround…

Bought the same watch at last drop. Bezel alignment was not perfect, but not terrible either. Everything else about the watch is great, and I’ve been very happy with the purchase. I’m sorry you didn’t have the same experience and wish you the best with your replacement!

I hope yours get resolved soon, it's good at least their response is prompt. My Hyperion Skyward from the same drop is perfect fortunately, hopefully thats more the norm than the exception

Follow up on my comment. I looked at my Hyperion skyward under my iPhone macro, and noticed quite a few small dots on the cream dial. It almost seemed as though the small black dots were embedded in the dial paint. It is not noticeable with the naked eye, but quite visible under macro. I only have one other cream dial, and it is the Oriental bambino. I noticed less but similar spotting on that dial as well. I imagine it is difficult to get a perfect white or cream color dial. Especially at a sub $1000 price point.

Beautiful watches! Too bad Lorier doesn't have a retailer in Europe because I'd buy one. For me, the best watch that fits the definition of Value is the Douglas Outrider 38. Nothing beats its value for money. A very underrated watch.

@@adams1253 Yes but in my country the tax is 23%. Add to this the duty payment, shipping costs and the watch will unfortunately cost too much compared to what it offers.

@@adams1253they do, but with customs added to the US online price it can unfortunately quickly get a lot more expensive. Offering a VAT-free price for overseas purchases like Scurfa would be a great move by Lorier.

Without a horrible arrowhead hour hand this is the first Lorier I like. In fact, I was looking at it on their web site last night. About half my watches have white/silver/cream dials. The only failure is a 38mm Bauhaus style watch which, with the combination of skinny bezel/large dial, looks HUGE and I'm almost embarrassed to wear it in public.

That Boldr was a great pick! What an awesome watch in both design and price! (I am a fan of blue collar affordable robust watches) The 2nd pick was interesting good choice (Kuon field watch). Not really a fan of the lorier but each to their own 😉

With me not having a lot of disposable income I need justification for buying a watch e.g. I don't yet have a chronograph = I want one! I have a dressy watch = can't buy another. I have 2 divers = can't buy another one. But white dial is like a wild card for me. I don't have one, but it could infiltrate any of the other styles and bends my rules. Would definitely love a white dial diver (the new CW C60 Atoll is looking favourite so far!)

I'd honestly get the Lorier in a heartbeat if it came with a sapphire crystal. Kuoe offers a sapphire crystal at a premium. There's no reason Lorier couldn't do the same. The extra scratch resistance would be worth it, in my opinion.

The Lorier Hyperion was a great looking watch at a good price. I found the crown was too sharp and kept annoyingly digging into my wrist. Had to go! 😢

"Rubbing your watch out"?????????? Umm.....Are we still talking about Hesalite Dome Crystals. Just picked up, and on the wrist now, the Lorier Hydra SIII GMT. Absolute hands down an amazing watch. Especially for people with small wrist. Mine is 6".....what can I say...I'm skinny. Ha.

Kuoe all the way. Loom dial on the Lorier is an automatic NO. So sad they decided to do it, would’ve been an otherwise cool watch.

I don't get the Kuoe. It's an expensive watch for an NH38 powered micro brand. Not a field watch IMO with polished case, deployment clasp and dressy leather strap. I would go with a Hamilton over this all day long.

I’m going to have to say no on Lorier from a brand perspective. Whoever is running their instagram account got into an unprofessional spat with someone under a political post that Lorier put out. If they want to take a political stance as a company that is very much their prerogative, but they chose to respond to those who disagreed with that political stance in a very unprofessional way. I liked several of their models and was considering purchasing them, but it put a sour taste in my mouth for the company.

Well, if that’s what’s going to stop you from buying a watch brand, that’s your prerogative… So do you still buy products from China? I’ve had most of the things you own or made entirely or at least in part by China… So you’re OK with genocide? Child slave labor? And only things and supporting a country that is given the chance would put you down like a rabbit dog?! I’d say there’s a good reason not to buy some thing… Or at least more so than your reason not to buy a watch!

I’ll take the Lorier. I need a watch in my collection that serviceable as a dress watch and I like the vintage vibe. I like the 9000 series miyota at this price. I have it in at least 10 of my watches and it’s performed great.

@@JohnBuckmaster-sw3wm I think you need to read my initial post again. It has nothing to do with what they support and had nothing to do with China. They can support whatever cause they want. It has more to with how they interact with those who disagree with they views. Whomever manages their Instagram came off like a spoiled middle school brat. It was unprofessional and again put a sour taste in my mouth for the brand as a whole. Why would people trust a company to support a individual as a customer, if they can't control their temper on social media. The post in question wasn't even regarding a hugely divisive topic, but Lorier chose to represent their brand in a manner that leads me to believe they would not take care of their customers with professionalism. I like their watches, the fact they can custom engrave the caseback was great, and was probably going to order several of them in the future as gifts because of that. But again, their petty behavior on social media has cause me to look at other brands. People can get what they want, no judgement, I'm just giving my opinions and observations.

I hate that people try to defend Loriers BS methodology about putting a plastic Crystal on 5, 600$ watches. I don't care that they include polywatch. I want to wear my watch and not have to wipe it down with ointment once or twice a day like if it was a baby. I want to wear my watch and be carefree about it. If they put a sapphire crystal on it will have almost The Identical look it's just a BS excuse to be cheap and overcharge. That's why I haven't purchased anything else from them other than there is every which ironically enough is a dress watch with sapphire LOL what a bunch of garbage
