When this video was made Canadians only lost 40 soldiers, we've now lost over 150. This is a great video though, kudos to the other allies working with us.

Interesting they do warning shots. When I was there in 2011, we were required to flag down vehicles first, then pen flares. If pen flares didn't work, then someone was getting shot.

At 3.46 the guy gets off the radio says were not going to Kandahar. meaning they did not go all the way there. IF you have soldiers out on these fobs you have to patroll the roads to keep the lines of communication open. these canadians were sent there by there government same as us and uk soldiers.

this is why I hate the Canadian Military that I had the "pleasure" of working with in Afghanistan. They caused more harm then good, pissed of the people more than before, AND took up alot of OUR medivac helicopters on mission to rescue Afghan civilians that DIDN'T need to be injured. Thank you Canadians for serving us ice cream when we came in from our month long operations....that I DEFINITELY appreciated!

I've been always wondering whether the civilians actually know how to behave when approaching a military convoy? Couldn't most insidents just be caused by misunderstanding? I've never seen that the locals have been informed e.g with leaflets or so.

@mateen420 If you followed the video you would have heard them talking about "They ignored warnings and warning shots". Hell if someone comes driving at you. They don't stop when you shout "STOP" and waves at them to stop. You shoot in their direction and they do not stop. Obviously you're gonna think it's a suicide bomber. That's what you're trained to do. Do not call them motherfuckers. They're the one keeping you safe. They arent there to kill. They're there to help. Respect to all soldiers.

OK since you opened the topic...here we go. As that element commander in that village/truckstop I would have stopped my command short of the location, OFF the hardtop. Any vehicles then approaching my element would have been a obivious threat. Mistake 1 by the CF element commander, again they created a situation in which they did nothing but alienate the locals by firing on thier vehicles in warning. IT WAS UNNESSESSARY. Piss poor tactical judgement on thier part.

Why not set up some decoys ? Decoy stryker roadblock, forces pulled well back, stop signs, couple of exploding micro charges in the road to simulate warning shots and let the bombers come to them blow up a wooden vehicle ? etrapment ;-) I wonder if that would work, let a few bombers blow themselves up on nothing!

Again, that was a sarcastic comment. Familiarize yourself with the concept of sarcasm and what it means. I put "noble" in quotation marks, which means that I was being sarcastic. I love how you keep making hypotheses about my membership of this or that organization. Put your mind at ease. I don't belong to any organization. If a person makes a comment, it's not necessarily because they belong to a political organization. Read through all your posts. You just randomly ramble on.

It's not "new." Canada ruled that women should be fully integrated into the military in 1989 (except for submarines.) It's the norm for Western countries, and has been for several years. Norway went even further, not only are women allowed to serve on submarines, they even have a female submarine commander. The United States was the last hold out, and even they announced a few months ago that women can now serve in combat roles. Countless U.S. women already have as "Exceptions to Policy."

I respect your point of view and yes sometimes troops get a bit out of hand, but given the circumstances they have done well. In that scenario where the troop shot on the ground with a warning shot, the car looked like he was gonna ram him and keep going. Just look closely and put your self in that troops position, they are on edge, out there you never know when death might strike you, I wouldnt be surprised if the car got within 20 yards that the troop would have used the Grenade launcher.

@SDProductions72 You assumed pretty quick that I want to let people die. "All for a couple spark plugs", stating that it is amazing how much work it is for our men and women, risking life, to find two spark plugs. A comment of admiration, not a comment desiring for humans to die by way of dehydration. :-) Thanks for the concern though.

Good work Canada, although it does seem kind of a waste of resources to get some spark plugs though and an unnecessary risk. And flying a copter to take a dude to a hospital? Seems like a inefficient use of resources. What if a NATO soldier was critically wounded an there were no medivacs available because they were flying the wounded afghan to a hospital? I guess they know better than me how to run the war. I'm just an armchair general.
