Thanks for posting this. It is informative and what they are doing needs to be encouraged. It is tragic to see the Afghan people so torn between allegiances. Then again, they have been doing it for hundreds of years, unfortunately....Nicola must be absolutely gutted. I feel so sorry for her.

You know.....All we can do is try......Try to leave, Try to help, Try not to hate, and Try to feed... As a Warrior I have a job. I love my job and I hate that people hate me because I do what I have to do. Until you really understand and go over there you will then see why, but until then YOU may hate me and I will take that hate from you and hold it....Never Sorry for what we do because we love it.......I pray for the day when the world really needs us.....Pray we will be there for YOU...

LoL, let me guess. The LAV rescue vehicle is HEAVIER than the normal one? Reminds me of problems we had when the CV90 got stuck in swamp areas where we trained. The Leopard 1 rescue vehicle was twice as heavy. Goes without saying that you cant drive a 40tonn tank into a area where a 20tonn got stuck...

If we go in and fight we get criticised, if we do nothing we get criticised, if we have an opinion we are criticised, we are even criticised for just being who we are. We are blamed for all the world's wrongs, expected to address them and criticised for doing so.

I think this is why this war is going so slow and victory is a long way. If you promise something, you gotta stick to it. Abandoning people while they practically have execution waiting for them is terrible and above all immoral. We need more troops in Afghanistan to create a stable situation. This way of working is not going to do any good, not for anybody..

@Otacon237 I did not ask you to 'prove' anything, you might want to read back my replies. I think you look into matters like these with an one sided perspective. You might want to consider that they didnt do it just to help the locals, it was because the locals might help them or might refuse to help the Taliban. Since you are such a smart person who studied 'military history', can you explain the different reasons for invading Afghanistan?

Sad about the villagers, they don't really have a choice but co-operate with whichever force is near them. Can't blame a village for not co-operating with NATO if they know NATO is going to leave after a short time and leave the village to be punished by the Taliban savages. Awkward situation.

It is embarrassing for every army. The officer exposed here is a regular occurence. Every army has good officers and bad officers, and mediocre officers. It has always been that way, and it will continue until the end of armies and military, indeed the end of the world which sees war as progression, which is our current world, which will always see war as progresssion.
