It's upon challenging the dragon that Grigori awakens, awaiting that moment to find a new Arisen. Combat is not required for an Arisen to be chosen or get the dragon's attention, but in this instance it was.

Oo never thought about it, but that seems highly likely. That would make complete sense, with both the translations of his dialogue and seemingly more animalistic nature in the cutscenes before the arisen attacks.

The arisen is chosen as someone with the will and drive to live and survive bringing meaning to life. This it is when he attacks instead of fleeing, his heart shows strength and the arisen was identified. It’s not that Grigori chose him, but merely found him.

Grigori was once an arisen that failed to beat a saneschel.

That's why I wouldn't try to physically attack them. Ideals though? They will listen.

Grigori is strong, he probably refused to kill the Senaschal rather than got defeated. Probably he used the Godsbane on himself during the fight.

honestly just sounds like narcissism, and you'd most likely end up like the zealot, thinking you know the dragon, but in reality your just tediously rambling until he just steps on you.

He mostly likely would just eat you for trying to waste his time and find another with the will to fight. The dragon only gives you 3 options fights, sacrifice or run away.

@@TheLigon27 Literally, his whole deal is "Action" he wants to see action, not debate philosophy. His whole purpose is to find someone who has the will to live, which means to fight. Not talk. He literally only stopped fattacking the village AFTER you fight against him. His eyes were clouded, showing he was in a bestial state. He wouldn't listen to shit, and even when he is awakened, he'd just think you were full of shit. OP wasn't paying attention to the actual cutscenes and just has main character syndrome.

No, the dragon is the previous Arisen that failed to defeat the Seneschal.

@@tracemacmillan9718 There are 2 endings involving the Gosbane, although one could be considered a 'game over'. Using Godsbane during the fight with Seneschal will kill you and turn you into the dragon, just like you would lose to him normally. Using the Godsbane after you become the Seneschal will break the cycle.

DD2 was less about dragon and more about breaking the cycle, fight was definitely shorter though without the chase/escape sequences

Compared to Grigori, DD2's dragon seems to be more depressed like "let's get this over with, yeah?" type thing

It's his role in the cycle, to terrorize the world, giving the arisen a reason to kill him. He isn't evil, he's just part of the system, playing his part

Since it's a cycle, he probably wasn't in full control of himself, only playing his required part until a future Arisen challenges him. I'm basing it on his cloudy eyes that only clear after you attack him. Or you know the previous player could just have been an asshole
