Here's recap from RUSH himself and reacting to JaeDong's commentary. 16:10 JaeDong: When I practiced with RUSH, he built a command-center first on his base. let's see if he does the same. RUSH: There's no reason to change the build. In the practice game, I won all games against all 8 players using this build, if Zerg goes hatchery expansion first build. I chose this build because I don't have to block the wide entrance (lower ground) with my buildings. 16:45 RUSH: Hero's drone control was insane. I didn't think his drone would get my SCV. it threw me off a little bit. Hero's drone control isn't usually this good. even thought I lost 1 SCV, I am still in a good shape because I built the command center so early. 17:45 JaeDong: Hero is going all drone now knowing RUSH has the command-center first build. combining that with 1 drone kill, it's not a bad start for Zerg. RUSH: agree. 18:45 JaeDong: RUSH will probably go 2 Barrack/Academy build now. the reason why Zerg goes 3rd hatchery in the base rather than the lower ground is because it's hard to defend the hatchery from Terran's 2B/A push. 19:28 JaeDong: Hello? RUSH? what are you doing? RUSH: LOL. my SCV defense was pretty decent though. I only lost 1 SCV and 1 marine here. Actually... this is what I found out practicing and it put me in a great position... When I make a gesture of marine push here, it forces Zergs to build two sunkens. because there's a little of time left spire to complete, Zerg will often produce extra 6-8 zerglings. Then Terran is in such a great position. that's why when Hero's 6 zerglings sneaked into my base, I didn't pull back right away. I actually pushed forward a little bit before retreating in order to Hero to produce these extra zerglings. 20:02 RUSH: this engineering bay...lol... I completely forgot that I already had one in my base... I don't know why... here's how I found out... I noticed that I could build the turret when engineering bay wasn't completed. then I thought to myself... shit! I already have it... so I cancelled it and build 4 barracks. 21:17 JaeDong: It's actually not a good feeling for a Zerg player to build 2 sunkens and extra zerglings for nothing... RUSH's marine could get swamped by mutas and zergling here, if RUSH is not aware of these extra zerglings... RUSH: I knew already because Hero's mutalisks came late than I expected. 21:25 JaeDong: huh? Is it right? are you sure? (when Hero's mutalisks and Zerglings sneaked into RUSH's base. RUSH: agree. I thought it was a bad move from Hero and really nice opportunity for me to extend my lead. 22:08 JaeDong: this is a critical moment here! not enough... not enough... not a plus for Zerg... Zerg needs more... it's not a plus... RUSH: yeah. I retreated immediately to defend... In order for Zerg to take advantage here, he should have pull this attack while keeping only two sunkens, not 4 sunkens. 23:00 It's not a good scenario for Zerg. Zerg delayed hydra den and queen's nest to use more mutalisks actively. he needs to do more damage... 23:56 JaeDong: AHH! get that tank! Oh No. he missed it. oh... tank might not have been in his sight... that's big... it looks like RUSH is prepping for 3 tank push here... 25:00 JaeDong: This is extremely dangerous moment for Zerg... 3tank + 1 Vessel push... Defiler won't come out in time... RUSH is going to initiate his attack in any second. 25:22 JaeDong: This counterattack looks good with lurkers! RUSH is pulling back! I think he should keep pushing forward and not retreat! RUSH: I retreated because I was scared... I think I would have lost the game if I pushed forward, because the game would have turned into chaos, and I wasn't confident that I could multitask well here... I didn't queue up a tank and these lurkers probably have sieged my barracks... so I retreated... 25:55 JaeDong: Vessel!!! OMG!!! RUSH: LOL... I was too busy defending my base from lurkers... there's no way I could have save that vessel... Only Flash can multitask here... 26:31 there’s a quite a bit of manual control here… Once 3 tanks sieged into a nice position. I manually targeted these left two eggs morphing into lurkers… then I target the lone lurker on the right… and then two lurkers inside the dark swarm… 27:15 RUSH: despite what people may say, I think the game is on my side at this moment, because Zerg can't really get my tanks any more, and I start to pile up vessels. also because I had command-center first start, it still has an effect. Zerg has no vision between 11oclock and 7 o'clock. and usually Zerg never rebuild the broken sunken line so I can move my units back and forth between 7 and 11 and keep building up my units. JaeDong: even though Zerg can push Terran out dark swarm + lurker, terran can repeat unsiege -> move back -> siege forever and get gas-heavy units little by little without a massive damage to its army. In this map, Zerg has to push out its defense line up to mineral expansion, and that's when Zerg can start to take control of the map (by connecting to other bases), but Terran will not allow that to happen... 28:30 JaeDong: until Zerg gets 4th gas stabilized, it's an uphill battle for Zerg... RUSH: correct... it's a constant battle for Zerg until it can get my 3 tanks with plague. until it happens, terran get keep increasing the gap and longer I keep my tanks alive, the gap will grow... 29:20 JaeDong: I see... this was RUSH's game strategy... keep harassing zerg and engage in small battle here and there between 7 and 11 to get zerg's gas-unit a little bit at a time while keeping his siege tanks alive... so Zerg is so hungry for gas... RUSH: correct! exactly! he knows... Game 2 36:25 JaeDong: Honestly, I don't like this Zerg play... it's not a good move... barrack's placement allows marine to come out behind the wall... It's not going to work... 36:55 RUSH: I build first depot after 8th SCV and the first barrack after 10th SCV. With this build, there's 2 seconds gap in SCV production, but the first marine comes out 5 seconds faster. with a normal build, the first barrack goes up around 1 minute 25 seconds into the game, but with this build it goes up around 1minute 18 to 19 seconds. with this build, you can defend against 4pool if you are human... 37:15 I saw the search drone here. timing wise, this is 9th drone search or 4pool search. I think Hero wanted to trick me that it's 9th drone search. usually 9th drone search arrives when barrack is 400 into production. this was a little late. so I thought the search drone may have search for a hidden building in the map, but I didn't rule out that it's 4 pool search either. 37:25 because of Hero's insane drone control in the last game, I was so focus controlling SCV here. in the game 1, even if I lose 1 SCV, it wasn't a big deal since I had command center first build. but here, it's a big deal. I controlled my a$$ off so I don't pause the SCV building the barrack... if I would paused a second or two building barrack like game 1 because of drone harassment, the game would have been completely different. JaeDong: There's a reason why people don't do 4pool. it's because Terran these days does SCV control so well to surround zerglings 38:00 JaeDong: Terran won the game already... RUSH: to tell you the truth, terran players usually do 11th SCV barrack build not 10th SCV barrack. Imagine marine comes out 5 seconds later, it could be difficult to defend. JaeDong: why did Hero do 4pool? it makes no sense... RUSH: beats me... maybe he thought I would do command center first... JaeDong: It won't be weird if Hero GG here. People say if Hero kept attacking the left depot, he might have had chance... I would say no... even if zerglings break the left depot, terran will still win. there's 10SCV + 1 marine. if you try 10 times, terran wins 10 times. not a chance... even if there's 8 zerglings, it won't work... RUSH: correct! destroying the left depot increases the chance slightly, but still... There's a reason why we build the first depot on the right side. it's to force zerglings detour and if zerglings were to get it, it forces the battle to happen left side around the mineral where it's easier to block the zerglings with SCVs and protect marines. JaeDong: It's insane how fast RUSH reacted when the search SCV saw the zerglings. rather than controlling the search SCV to save it, he immediately switched the screen to his base and dragged SCV just in time...

So much appreciation for every cast you guys do! I was so sad when Kespa ended and sc2 looked like it might kill bw, don't mind the occasional hiccup at all and just grateful for these great matches 25 years and going strong!

1. I like the changes (I like to see tasteless but I'm fine with that tradeoff) 2. Sound is perfect (subtle music in background, gamesound and commentator loud and clear) 3. Amazing translation by Ziggy! That must have been a lot of work 4. Length gave away the victory too early. If possible add some random stuff at end please 5. No names in titles please - in case someone watch the whole series later 6 . Love you and want to watch you comment broodwar the next 30 years ;-)

On the recording changes, here are a few thoughts : - looks like we are missing the outro (not too big of a deal but still, the ending was a bit abrupt. maybe we can keep it next time ?) - It sounds like we have less delay between Artosis and Tasteless ? So a lil less speaking over each-others etc - It will be cool to have your reactions to the interviews now, it was missing a bit - I don't care too too much about the delay between the real games and your cast but I guess the quicker the better - BUUUUUT I really really really miss having Tasteless on camera... Without it it doesn't feel the same good old "real" cast, I don't want it to look like another "twitch reaction" or something. Thank you so much for what you're doing guyz, it means a lot to us too.

Love you guys dearly and love the ASL casts. That being said, I would be willing to wait the extra time it takes to have video of both of you. I even like the little outro that ASL does. It's a small thing that gives the VOD a really nice closure. A nice polish that I feel detracts from the overall quality without it.

I'd rather you take a slower time with some minor audio issues but keep you both on screen. Doesn't feel the same without seeing you both :(

Honestly, I wouldn't mind waiting for a few weeks until you could upload a well formatted and edited video but I understand how other people might not feel the same way.

Brutal games. game sound could be a *little bit* louder otherwise the audio is great. i noticed some of the previous videos issues but nothing that upset my viewing at all. thank you guys for keeping up the ASL coverage.

I think the most important part is no audio issues etc. I am fine with it being late. Seeing Tasteless would be great but if this is the best version, I am happy with this approach.

When doing RT only webcam maybe throw up a pic of Tassles in a scene similar to the regular setup, so he can be there in spirit. And Tastless volume needs about 2% raise hes ever so slightly lower than RT. Overall this was an amazing cast.

This provides much better audio sync, which makes a big difference in key moments of the game. The game can change so fast when players make clutch moves or big mistakes. Better audio sync is much appreciated and needed to enjoy the commentary in those moments.

For me it is pretty easy to stay spoiler free - I kind of miss seeing Tasteless along side Artosis though. I was also kind of hyped to see you guys wear buttoned shirts - maybe you could dress a bit more formal for the finals, I think it would be quite cool of you!

Appreciate the 'hotfix'. I think Tassles audio level is juuuust a bit lower than RT's, but it still good.

Appreciate the new format, sad not seeing Tasteless though :( My comment in case it helps: - The translation seems to be way better, great job, maybe Korean voices need to be lower volume? - Tastosis talking is better now, I can feel you are speaking in real-time with each other, not interrupting, etc. - I felt like tasteless was watching the events just slightly ahead of the video, not too problematic though. I hope this helps, keep up the great work, thank you!

RIP Tasteless cam. Maybe you guys can figure out a way to bring that back even with the new format, but definitely appreciate the speed of this release. Hopefully this solves the audio issues as well. Either way, still loving the casts!

Despite video's coming out late, I like Tastosis commentary videos apart from commentary, mostly for the translation part of it, which gives you a better experience overall.

I was literally about to comment that the mic quality seemed much better this ep! I feel like there's more hype when its cast "live" as well!

@Game 3: I think it's insane when Zergs don't get burrow in the late midgame ZvT. It's a hard counter to erasers.

Tastosis, I think focussing on the desync issue is great - there are solutions other than recording the whole show 'live' in one go, but I understand that requires a different kind of work. I love your commentary, been listening to you for over a decade and I'm not even 30 yet. I appreciate the work, I appreciate fixing the issues like desync but ultimately I just enjoy your casts more than I enjoy those of others even when there are problems. I should really support you on patreon but I am on benefits so things are very tight and I don't want to stretch myself even thinner [I think in your country it's called welfare, although it exists there even less than it does here]

Great work addressing the audio issues with this quick fix, but I think having both Arty and Tasteless on camera is just irreplaceable!

Audio was good! I really wish we get to see Tasteless too. I do like the translations too but for the Ro4 and finals I really hope we get Caster Park subtitled, his speech is so enthusiastic even though I don't understand a word of Korean. Just can't compete with that.

Excellent translator. I found it very easy to listen to the interview compared to normal.

I had no issues with the new format. If this can help you guys alleviate any sound issues while also getting these videos out faster, I’m all for it! If there is ONE thing I could ask for though, it would be that you add some white noise at the end of each video and make them all 5+ hours long or something for spoiler reasons. When the VoD is 1h 25min and one player wins game 1 and 2, it’s incredibly obvious that the match will end either 1-3 or 0-3.

Great casts as always. Personally, this is the only way I interact with ASL so the timing doesn't really bother me either way (the sooner the games come out, the sooner it's over after all) but I can imagine getting spoiled if you hang out in streams or forums. One small thing I did enjoy before was watching the highlights from the group selection before each group in Ro16 but I’m sure subtitling it all had to be way more work than it was really worth. I did like that Tastosis commented a little on the player interviews at the beginning of this one, makes them feel a little more involved and it seemed like they don't usually hear them, maybe due to when the translation happens relative to the commentary (or maybe it's just that the pre-match interviews are nearly always pretty meaningless so they don't bother, which is also fair). Also, it's always nice to see the two of you on camera a little, especially after a hype/funny game. In any case I’ll keep supporting for as long as you keep up the fantastic casts!

I much prefer the quicker releases over everything else. Always nice to see Artosis and Tasteless side by side, but we know you guys are halfway across the world from each other anyway.

Wow, I love to new format. I was shocked today that we got a Round of 8 game so quickly. Definitely an awesome treat. I do have a suggestion for future uploads. One thing that VioleTak, DiggitySC, Moletrap and KlazartSC used to do back in the Pre-SC2 Days for Amateur English Commentary on KZfaq is Anti-Spoil the Starcraft Match by extending the length of the video by an hour or so and having a static image of a Starcraft match. So for example, if the match ends in a 3-0 or 3-1, and the viewer is 1:00:00 into the video and there's only 34 minutes left, there's an extremely high likelihood that if they look at two time stamps that they will spoil themselves the result of the match. So by faking the length of the video by an hour, it gives suspense to the viewer that this one match might actually go to 5 games, and it will truly be a surprise when it ends in 3-0 with another hour of fake video footage left. Just a thought to throw out there.

great broadcast, i personally love faster broadcasts. Obviously in a perfect world I'd prefer Tasteless to be on screen, but if that is the key to massively cutting down editing time I think it sadly is preferable to waiting / audio problems. Maybe in the future you guys can figure out some more streamlined way to have both of you on screen? Either way thanks a lot for the cast as usual, it's always a highlight of my days when this pops up in my feed

Stream quality was immaculate, upload speed was a gift. I wish herO could have given us the same out of the games themselves, but we got a sick RO4 shaping up. Super stoked!

Really appreciate what you guys are doing, keep it up! My only complaint is that the length of the vod is a spoiler in itself. I do understand if you might not be able to make it spoiler proof either cause of production or youtube itself. But if your goal really is to improve our experience, that would be the main thing for me at least.

The new format seems great, no audio desyncs and much quicker The commentary and the games are what matters and they’re both great now The only thing I could say is please put time stamps for the games starting and for commentary in the video description. People have to put the time stamps in comments, but there are spoilers in the comments too

Thank you for trying to improve your videos. I think I prefer the other format, and Im comfortable with the extra delayed time it takes :) If keeping this format, it might be good to side chaine/duck the corean interview against english translation with a compressor, or at least lower the decibel of the original sound :)

The thing I hated about this not being cast live by Tastosis is I knew the whole time they were talking about the comeback potential of hero they were putting it on because they knew the time of the video, I hate that I saw it when I opened the video that the first person who won was going to win would take it 3-0 or first to 2 would win 3-1 based on time. I almost had some hope of uncertainty when Hero almost took a game with the 4pool would have been super quick and would have obscured the winner for a little bit longer. Tastosis still great but I'm nostalgic about the earlier seasons.

Keep this format, I prefer the upload speed and quality more than anything, also the hand puppet comment is a must as well.

Love the speed. I had this idea around the round of 16 but was thinking about it each group if it was good enough but youtube used to allow for manual translations for videos... but when there are some of the interviews in the middle that dont get a dub translation... Maybe in the CC settings someone can add the translation to english in the later days after the upload like a week or 2 later.... I know theres an AI that takes care of subtitles now but an officail translation for documenting what is ASL years later would be AWESOMEEEEE!!!! Love you guys. STARCRAFT BROODWAR 4EVER!!!!!

Inline with some other comments, for those of us who tend to not have as much time to go through the vods as quickly, it would be really appreciated as a supporter of the channel to have spoiler-free titles!

I was very surprised to see how fast this came out compared to the last one and if this is the speed then its a good idea. I do think it would be the most fair to swap back and forth between you 2 on who gets the camera spotlight per episode and probably worth it to still have both of you for the finals.

If all we lose is a camera shot (which are pretty rare in a full broadcast anyway), but get much faster and cleaner uploads, then I'm all for it. Great translations by ziGGy too btw.

@ASL ENG production, please watch through your videos at least once for quality checks. The English/Korean audio overlap at 44:34 is very annoying.

Is there a way to combine the faster turnaround of this with the longer time it takes for the subtitles? It won't be quite as fast as this one, but a little faster than when you did subtitles before? Perhaps that would make everyone happy.

I appreciate that you guys try things with your productions. Overall volume is a bit low (balancing seems good, just volume compared to other videos generally. Overall solid though). I don't know if it's viable for you, but I wonder about a quick release (like this) and then something else uploaded with the full (written) translations, possible footage of Tasteless added in (if it could even be captured), etc. Failing that, I personally prefer the overall higher quality and slower production, but I get that you guys get a lot of pressure and criticism about production speed. Similarly, I don't care about length/spoilers - I'm focused on quality. Edit: you know, going with this format and refining it will probably do wonders. Bonus would be some of the translations in some way to add in, especially for people watching later on or even re-watching matches/groups.

I like the new format: audio was good, speed of release was awesome, and I really like that you can hear the translation of the interview and comment on it. For the last few seasons there were often moments where you never commented on some of the fascinating comments made during the interviews.

And the KZfaq bar telling me how much time is left RUINS the suspense when you get about 2/3 thru the vod, I use a yt bar blocker but doesn't work on my phone/tv... Add time at the end that is black screen to remedy?

Some Feedback for Tastosis: - I really appreciate the fact you are staying SHARP and continuously trying to improve and hearing us (the guys in the chat 😅) - It is amazing that you brought this VOD so RUSH! I always wait for you, because you are the BEST casters ever and also the other English casters are a disaster! Personally It has been a KILLER to wait 10+ days for you and to try and stay spoiled FREE, but specially it has been a shame for me to not being able to talk about the games with my friends because they preferred to watch the other English channel or even the overSEAs casters because their videos come out quicker. - it’s sad that we can see only Arty, since tasteless is way handsomer 😂😂 jokes aside: It is sad but I appreciate the EFFORT to bring the VODs quicker. I am sure you will find a solution for that in the future, maybe you have already something in MIND. - Ziggy’s translation was awesome! Nice, CALM and good to understand voice & accent. I prefer this to the subtitles, because I SCAN do something else meanwhile or just close the eyes and don’t miss ZERO content. - The Korean audio during the translation was a bit too loud. A MINImal change required there. - audio between Arty and Tasteless was balanced and the in-game audio was also balanced. - video quality and comment quality was like always incredible! - keep up the good work, you are our HEROs! - Guys in the chat, don’t LETArtosis and Tasteless down, sing up to the Patreon! They are bringing us the Broodwar ACTION with an amazing quality!
