What’s the break in time?

With the success of our wedge sole on our African ranger we’ve now made our Razorback an option with this sole. The softer rubber and wedge design goes a long way for comfort. As for the midsole route we are working on a new more narrow last and boot design which may feature a leather midsole. Stop early days into this idea but feel free to drop us an email for updates or suggestions🥾

That is the one criticism I have on the RBs, they are too heavy to be good hiking boots. I I compare them against my winter Churucas they are significantly heavier and you feel that when walking. Doesn't make them bad boots, I love mine, but for hiking there are better alternatives even within the the JG range.

@@rogercarbonell3696 I'm not sure I would trust a light weight shoe/boot on long hikes. I like the extra protection that leather provides. the sole is strong enough that I don't feel every sharp root and stone but still tactile enough to be able to feel the ground. the boot is roomy enough to hold my favorite insole so I'm comfortable all day. and the materials and construction are solid and proven so I know the boot isn't going to blow out on me when I'm 5 miles away from my car which has happened to me in the past with a pair of newer tech glued together boots. if I want to shave a pound of weight off my kit I'll just go to the bathroom before my hike or leave something else home. I just don't see the logic in shaving weight off the bit of gear that is actually between me and rough terrain with every step. as far as weight goes I could stand to lose 10 or so pounds off my love handles, if weight were an issue for me on hikes I'd likely be better off starting there. 🤣

Hi Matthew, thank you for your support and kind words. The AR8 boots are on their way to the USA as of the moment and are expected to touch down around the middle of September. We are still keeping our wide toe box in the range and developing a more narrow range as requested to cater for more feet 💪

The STC last without a steel toe cap is what the African Ranger boots are built on. I just ordered a single lasted pair of AR8's built on the STC last with the Oringo wedge sole of the African Rangers. The best part of JG is their custom shop.

Hi Barry, our insert in our boot is removable. We would recommend removing this insert and replacing it with one from around the house (EG. Old running shoes) or one from your local store. A thicker or thinner insert can adjust the fit and feel of your boots and hopefully eliminate the toe rubbing you are experiencing. Please get in touch should you require further assistance.

Thanks for the interest in our boots, so we use a polyester woven material which is not the same as board as mimics leather to some degree, if you have issues within a year of use we will replace them for you. We then offer custom requests, and you can opt for a leather midsole. Check out our custom boots of the week videos where most go for this
