@@KillerBeeGuy I was telling my wife how you couldn't use a regular bug zapper because those killers would just clog the mesh until it just shorted out. But if you placed 2 wires just wide enough to catch wings and let the bodies fall thru, it might be better than spray adhesive to knock the swarm numbers down. The sound thing I got that idea from the 1970's movie "The Swarm". Like the buzz of drones agitates the hive. Seriously how many bees could be zapped with a Model T Buzz Coil and a 12 volt deep cycle battery energizing the grid with a ignition coil?

@@KillerBeeGuy Something new came up since asking you this. I remember a couple of times talking to you where it came up that the africanized have more drones in their colonies, higher percent drone populations. I don't doubt this is true. But now I'm curious if this means they put out swarms faster with shorter intervals between swarms and queen breeding than the european genetics? It would be interesting to find this out. And maybe it explains how they've spread so successfully in the south. Perhaps this explains the higher numbers of drones also?

Disappointing to see the huge loss of resources as a result of this operation, the drone didn't seem to be very useful as the propellers only served to mash bees which caused release of even more attack pheromones, a quieter less combative approach using copious amounts of cool smoke may have been more productive. The regular alignment of most of the honey comb would have enabled the majority to be cut to size and transferred to regular langstroth frames and secured with suitable sizes of rubber bands. Probably 2 or maybe 3 standard production hives could have been made up rom the cut outs and re-queened with a less feral variety which would have given a better return sustainable into the future rather than a one off haul of honey and wax for the considerable effort involved. Converting this feral stinging machine into managed bee-hives would have been a better approach IMO.

I wonder if you could just hover a drone near a bee nest and kill all of them over time. It's making a huge buzzing noise that bees hate, and the rotors are milling the bees into a fine spray that smells like war to a bee. The more bees that attack, the more get juiced, the more it smells like B-Day to the whole hive. It would only end when drone ran out of power, or the rotors became so fouled they could no longer generate lift, or you ran out of bees.

Besides attitude-no. The only difference between different types of honey is the type of flowers the bees are foraging on.

@@KillerBeeGuy yes have worked thousands of commercial colonies pollinating in Nicaragua and Panama. Interestingly the temperament of the African honeybee calms out according to moon phases. 1 week before and 1 week after a full moon is the period of time, when hive management should be avoided.

That is amazing! For some reason here in Cochise County we have the most aggressive Killers known. No idea why. They can be pissy anytime here. We've heard of them being more angry depending in the flowers they are pollinating. Here it makes no sense! We are so glad you are enjoying the vids!

The hole was cut years before we got there. All of the wild honey bees in the state of AZ are genetically Africanized. These are not our Grandfather's honey bees. We are here to mitigate the threat. The honeymoon is over. Also there is no relocating these monsters just so they can kill someone else somewhere else! We are so glad you are enjoying the vids!!

When the Africanized bees first came into Az in the early nineties I worked in conjunction with the St Dept. of Ag here in AZ in that we would send samples of all of the hive and swarm removals to them for testing of 5 of Africanization. In 1998 they called me and said to not send anymore as ALL of them were testing Africanized. It was a done deal. I was featured in a Nat Geo show 'Monster Quest'-'Giant Killer Bees' that proved this exact fact. You can see it on KZfaq. At this time I am certified to teach for the state for CEU's and for licensing. We're so glad you are enjoying the vids!
