Aloha , With my Emergency Honeybee calls here in Hawaii , there was one call days after leaving the hospital and I was unable to go to help the firemen and police . I spoke to the Fire chief and made sure what they had going on . It was a swarm of robbing bees so thick it closed a major highway . I suggested to the firemen to use their 'foam generator ! Since once wet ,bees can't fly , to cover the source of the swarm , a dumpster full of honeycombs at the road side . They did and in 30 minutes the problem was over . The large swarm in your video , was a good candidate for fire fighting foam !

Kitana Corvidae I can see why some people will try to connect things based upon them occurring in similar time, but the most likely explanation is something as an affect of the eq, like the hive being damaged from movement from the eq (whether underground or in structure), or a release of a pesticide/poison to them, that released from movement of the eq. The speculations such as magnetic or air changes are not supported.

I just had a cheap idea. Two garbage bags. Set one inside the other about 1/3 if the way in. Duct tape the outer bag to the inner bag. 3x for secured. Take the bottom of the inner bag and remove a section of the bottom's center. Duct tape the hole around the circumference of the hole to make a funnel. More scooped bees, and it lowers their chances of escape from the bottom bag compared to the single bag shown. Obviously there may be some offsite prep for this. Shouldn't be more than five minutes to prep 3 to 4 bags.

I am a beekeeper in The Netherlands for over 35 years. Never seen a swarm this big....however...I think there's more then 1 queen inthere.... To my humble opinion it would have been a lot smarter and easyer working if they had brought 10 or more complete bee-houses and 'scooped' up the bees by cluster. These clusters most sertainly have held a queen each. By putting these clusters in a beehouse each, they would have had an instant new colony. When there's no queen in the cluster the bees go out the beehouse within 15 mins. anyhow to search for their queen. When there is a queen in the cluster, they simply stay. By taking each cluster away, you'll reduce the mass part by part creating new colonies and make it appear more naturally. All the bees left behind with no queen eventually break apart and devide themselves over the created new colonies. Therefor they should then have kept the 3 (or so) smallest colonies of the 10 (if using the method I just described) and place them within 5 yards maximum from the event we just seen. Within 12 hours all the bees will be in the beehouses.....then when moved at night not 1 bee kept left behind. Another tip from my side: use water in a spaybottle to keep the bees wet. Water cools them down, which reduces their activity and on a hot day that water also benefits the bees since they need water as well as people do. I hope you can benefit from this tips and keep up the good work!!!

Using smoke in this situation does not really help, just only to move them from spots you can't reach, since smoke simulates a fire which trigger them to fill their stomachs witrh honey so they get lazy and don't sting so much. In this case there's no honey to fill their stomachs with.

I don't believe these are Africanized bees. With the number of bees being stepped on, or squashed in some manner or other, Africanized bees would be all over their hoods and face area. It is a shame that they were not collected and split amongst 5 or 8 hives with caged new introduced queens in the ones without, to put them back to work pollinating.

@@mastergx1 you would be hard pressed to find non-Africanized honey bees in Arizona now days! Do a little research on Africanized bees it's a real eye opener ! I've got hives of European bees in my back yard and I will be bummed when those girls make it to Michigan!😢

Job was done in about an hour & we just drove away with them:) Some just flew away. We’re not out to kill all the bees. We just don’t want them living in our homes etc. The swarms that survived the drive to the ranch were realeased.

Those are valuable honey bees, pollinators that we need and are useful. They shouldn’t be bagged up like trash. They should be left alone and will leave on their own. They’re just there until the scouts find a suitable hive.
