Afrobeat better than dancehall

Afrobeats has grown in popularity to far bypass genres like Dancehall, Soca, and some might argue that it has even surpassed Hip Hop in terms of popularity.
Some say that Afrobeat is a fusion of other genres like Dancehall and Hip Hop, but Vx from the 18 Karat Reggae team begs to differ. She believes that Afrobeat was always there, and it is Hip Hop and Dancehall that was influenced Afrobeat.
In other word, Afrobeat is like the alpha and the omega of music, it was always there, and it will always be there; before it, there was none and after it, there will be no more.

Dancehall beat is raunchy, also afrobeat is raunchy but not violent, there's a soul connecting and you can't ignore Afro beats. Going back to the roots. Some dancehall never leaves the shores of Jamaica.

Some Jamaicans claim that Afrobeat is merely a remix of *Dance Hall.* Little did they know that they are not the only country claiming to be the originator of Afrobeat. Even Hip-Hop is making the same claim. So, is Ghana, Cameroon, etc. People who say Afrobeat is a remix of their music are speaking from pure ignorance. Have you all visited Nigeria, and sampled the thousands of native, ancestral rhythms that exist therein? Afrobeat is mostly a creative repackaging of ancestral rhythm, using modern musical instruments. New generation of Nigerians creatively layered western chord progression and melodies on top of raw, ancestral rhythm. *The video below shows how Afrobeat is played in the rural area, without modern musical instrument. Mom and grandma still dance to it.* Every tribe in Nigeria has hundreds of diverse native rhythms, and Nigeria has 330 tribes! Afrobeat artists borrow bits and pieces from thousands of ancestral rhythms, and then enhance the beat with western chord progression and melody. Africa is the root of rhythm. That is why everyone is claiming that Afrobeat is a remix of their music. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7iYjZZymqmznZs.html The world just became exposed to the seductive, pulsating and melodious groove we have been dancing to since creation.

@@phantasytv5878 Reggae and Dance Hall do not have even 1% of the pulsating and melodious groove of the type kinds of music that influences Afrobeats. You are speaking with limited knowledge. You have not sampled hundreds of ancestral groves that Afrobeat borrows from. Like this one: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7iYjZZymqmznZs.html You probably think Jamaica invented Reggae . Listen to Cumbia music with an open mind, and you will discover where Reggae got it's groove. In a documentary on Reggae music, Jimmy Cliff conceded that Cumbia greatly influenced Reggae. @@Chainbreak2023 Everyone claims to be the originator of Nigeria's Afrobeat, but none of them can produce it. Jamaica, Ghana, Cameroon, US, etc, we challenge all of you to produce Afrobeat, But you can't, because Afrobeats is mostly a repackaging of Nigerian ancestral, native rhythm, using modern musical instruments. Nigeria has 330 tribes. Each tribe has hundreds of ancestral musical genres, and we abandoned our rich and diverse musical resources to borrow from Ghana. Ghana is not even Nigeria's neighbour. We crossed 2 countries! Nigerian-Americans are the most successful immigrants in America. Nigerian immigrants have the highest levels of education in America. A Nigerian is the richest man in Africa. Chinese and Indian Movie Industries were already long established, but Nigeria took over and became the second biggest Movie industry after Hollywood. In many things, Nigeria is enterprising......except..... music! Nigerian has to depend on Ghana to teach them music. And this makes absolute sense to Ghanaians! Ghana's is famous for associating with Nigeria's success, instead of trying to learn from Nigeria. Enjoy this groove. It is one of the Nigerian genres that influences Afrobeat: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7iYjZZymqmznZs.html Enjoy this one, too. You will hear a peculiar rhythm that feature in almost all Afrobeats track. Here the sound is made with small slit-drum and shekere. In Afrobeats, the artists will replace native instruments with multiple different modern instruments, like Snare, Clave, Hihat, Bassline, etc. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbdpndaBzNK0kZs.html It is unfortunate that these videos are made with phone camera, but hearing the music live will give you an idea where Afrobeats gets its seductive, pulsating and melodious groove. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNSFnpCXntvckmw.html

No one made a video asking why hip-hop took over from dance hall or reggae or whatever. Now Afrobeats is here and suddenly everyone seem bothered. Is it that no one wants anything good to come out of Africa or no one expects Africans to do anything good? Why can't we just enjoy it for what it is? Afribeats has always been around . No dancehall is not sampled after Africa. Jamaicans originated early music from American radio and so on and so on. They kept the mentality of pure African not the lifestyle. Same as Americans keep the lenage, make orignal identity. Now dancehall was with lyrical toasters that run with the rhythm. Same as hip hop rap the bass line. No disrespect but African didn't have this heartbeat yet, Jamaica did. That's why dancehall went worldwide, and we all it wasn't because of the topics. It wasn't until they started learning the island lingo that it went another way, a la gangster. Nobody can ever tell me that dancehall copied anybody. Like American hip hop, nobody can say they copied anybody. Now other places I beg to differ. They are saying now because afrobeats is all inclusive now, but dancehall wasn't back then, and it still made it's way because of the heartbeat of the music.

The essence of black music is the same no matter what form it manifests itself into, very rhythmic and expressive. Shout outs to my Jamaicans and Americans and every other black diasporian that took this essence and fashioned a unique style but to say Africa didn't have a heartbeat is wrong and disrespectful. Correct yourself.

In fact all the early reggae songs were direct lyrical covers of American songs! It then evolved into what is today, a Jamaican sound! Afrobeats is different in its culture and applications because we don't do "versions",our artistes don't "ride a riddim" and all that! Every artiste comes with his own production fresh and intact! Our various traditional languages, slangs and age old culture gives Nigerian Afrobeats its own distinction! Rema, Oxlade, Ayra Starr, Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel, Fireboy, Joeboy...there's nothing "reggae" about their music. When reggae morphed into Dancehall, it lost its musicality and melodies! That's why they are reaching a by far bigger audience than reggae artistes nowadays! So sick and tired of people biiatching about how Afrobeats copied this and was influenced by that! It's genre for the time being, and like other genres of music, it might lose its appeal and popularity in another decade or so!
