I'll never need to upgrade the drive because I'm not loading it up with footage. I work off of drives whenever editing with it.

You will also find apple fanboys criticise small windows laptops for not having upgradable ram while their laptop don't even have upgradable ssd pluss the crazy price for the upgrade at time of purchase is beyond theft

@@jose-Maki i think apple air is perfect for his use case -- a workstation at home and a light capable laptop with a great battery life for cafes and travelling.. if you don't have a house and constantly on the move, thats when its becoming more difficult..

Should i get a acer nitro 5 with 3060 but 67% srgb or legion 5 with 3050ti with 100% srgb I am trying to learn to video edit, so should i chose power while sacrificing screen?

Hi Ben. Im looking for a laptop for 4k video editing my gopro and dji drone photage. Nothing to hetic, mabye 10 to 20 minutes video ,I have it narrowed down to the hp envy x360, r7 15.6" 16gb and the hp victus 16.1" 32gb 13700hx there is a $500 difference here in Australia . Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🤙

It'd be cool if you can review the Lenovo Thinkbook 2-in-1 Gen 4. Not in the US market yet but I have been seeing it on the Australian, Hong Kong, Malaysian and Vietnamese Lenovo websites already.

If you were to work in a single place, such as your home, and you had a preferred desk, would you still choose a Mac as your go-to laptop? I was down for a Lenovo after watching your previous videos 😅 but now I'm debating whether I should get a Mac with M1/M2 and 16GB of RAM or a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (4060/4070) for programming/ML and video editing purposes.

If I were in one place and was going to select a laptop for my entire work life I'd choose the Legion Pro 7i. That's what my editor uses and she has no issues editing my big projects. It would also allow for a lot of connected devises which is important to me. The Legion Pro 5i would be a great choice as well, but the i9 processors provides a little extra multi-tasking.

I'm leaning towards the Zenbook pro 14 with the 4070... but should I feel a little fomo without the ultra series Intel CPU and gsync for occasional gaming?

This video is such a unique premise to educate and help laptop enthusiast. love the way your channel is growing mate! not gonna lie, it was surprising to see 3050 being your preference on your main rig. love the final choice. two questions: question 1: is there anything you would suggest for portable unreal engine development? i was looking into 4080s + screen combo but many laptops had various issues (razer with RMAs, ASUS with Quality). I was looking into G16, but is there a better option? question 2 : have you looked into oneX player and oculink? its like ROG ally + flow connect but instead of proprietary, it has standard connection. upcoming lenovo ThinkPad might have one of those. Thanks..

Thanks for watching! I've had the set up for a few years now and it's never given me issues + all the performance I need, so I've not needed to upgrade past the 3050. 4080 will be a good choice for Unreal Engine. Personally I would look into Lenovo. I've found the build quality and component optimization to be second to none. If you're not a fan of Lenovo you could check out the Asus Pro Art StudioBook Pro 16. There are a few GPU SKUs available, but now that I'm typing this I DON'T think 4080 is available only RTX A3000 or RTX 4070. Honestly I've been testing the new G16 and it's shown promise. The RTX 4080 in it is powerful. I'll hopefully be posting my review soon.

I looked into asus proart for the same, 4070 was turn off. thanks for suggestion. i would love lenovo and take you up on the advise. looking forward to review of G16. @@BenGKaiser Also, for my question about oculink, have you looked into it? onexplayer was just an example. but it made so much sense for super compact external portable GPUs, was hoping if you had access to the tech or in mind. Either way, thanks.

@@RAGHAV4882 hey! i'm also looking for a laptop for professional gamedev, and i'll work around an Unreal Engine, Blender and Visual Studio. Got a budget of around 1.2k€, and that realistically gets me a 4060 with a Ryzen 7. Do you think that's decent enough, with an eventual 32GB RAM upgrade?

If you find a screen protector which doesn't ruin the image quality and correctly covers the whole screen, the expense should definitely be considered as replacing a screen is quite... Pricey 😢

guys serious question, is better the MacBook Pro m3 pro base (18 ram and 512gb) or the MacBook Pro m1 max with 64 ram and 2 tb (cpu 10 core and gpu 32). I can buy them for 1400(m1max) and 1500(m3pro)

for me the best Windows laptops are for overall usage with 4070: - Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9 - ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 2024 for light tasks without GPU or with 4050: - HP Spectre x360 2024 - Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 9 for gaming and hard tasks with 4090: - ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 with R9-7945HX3D - ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 2024

Really confused between the two, especially about the RAM, no upgradability has been a bummer, but is 32 Gig soldered LPDDR5X 6400 MHz really that bad against upgradable RAM? Also... worried about thermals of 2024 version

I don't understand, why would you need 6k for youtube! FHD looks excellent on most 14-16 inch screens, 4k is already an overkill, but 6k!! do you do some other kind of work or am I not getting something? it seem a total waste of energy resources rendering such heavy files.

The g16 4080 is a far superior laptop. Better ports, display, cpu, and gpu speakers. Great keyboard can upgrade wi fi and storage. No brainer.

I love watching tech channels but I think it's an open secret that 99% of reviewers recommend powerful Windows machines and then switch off the camera and use a MacBook. Macs are just so far ahead of windows laptops that people will sacrifice certain advantages of windows for the quality of life that Macs inherently bring with their unrivalled build quality, portability and battery life.

If I would be just doing video editing I would agree with the choice. Unfortunately apples walled garden and it's purely based on greed decision that I can't upgrade anything.... It's still a big NO for me. But each their own

If I ONLY had one device I most likely would choose a windows based laptop with a dedicated GPU. But my desktop allows me to enter the walled garden without hesitation. Lol!

No offense but it's just meh... When I work, I'm usually plugged in so I really don't care about power efficiency as much. A 4080/4090 and AMD 16-core equipped with 128GB/192GB of ram is where it's at. Apple doesn't serve high end well...
