Courtney - Great Video as always!! I can add some info on the Frontier pusher. I purchased a 60" Frontier pusher late summer of 2020, so It's the 2nd season for it. It's totally different in design than what you had in pictures. Let me start by saying I wish I would have purchased HLA. The back Drags on these Frontier bend very easily, just as you had pictured. My 60" Frontier is 16" front to back and 20" tall. The metal runners are adjustable, but a fixed choice of 3 holes provide limited options and are not a fully adjustable "Slot". That does however make the runners replaceable. The main cutting blade and back drag blades are also replaceable. My Frontier does have a formed back to the pusher with 2 bends giving it 3 surfaces at different angles. Also, the side walls on my Frontier are not double walled, but have a totally enclosed brace from the back to the side. I have plenty of pictures if you wish to see them. As you said, Frontier uses different manufacturers, and I'm sure the differences in what you have found and what I have are because of those different manufacturers.

Courtney, I shopped all of those and bought the 60” Frontier AS10F for my 1 Series. The base price is about right at $850, but the poly skid shoes add about $300. The back drag and rubber edges add more too. Mine with all that was about $1200 new. Also, the weight you list isn’t right. It is right about 200 lbs with all those options. A base model is 140 lbs.

I have the HLA 1500 60” for my 1023e, I put 4” wide x 3/4” thick UHMW skids bolted to the existing runners. I find they don’t set into the gravel on the driveway like the existing 1.5 “ runners do.

I have used Johnsons paste wax with incredible results. I use it on my tractor everywhere, wheels, hood,fenders. It works on my bucket and my snow pusher. Here in Maryland, we get a different snow each time it snows. The pusher is great with a dry powdery snow. I have to use the bucket when we get a heavy wet snow . These heavy wet snows usually starts as rain ,then freezes then snow on top. The pusher is not for the ice under the snow. In either case the Johnson paste wax (can be used on steel , wood , plastic etc. ) is the best for snow not sticking to any part of my 1025 . Give it a try it lasts so it won't break you.

Another informative video; thank you!! I have a 60" Frontier frame mounted plow on my 1025R, it works really well especially if you are "space" challenged. However it is not quick attach, it is a bit of a chore to switch back to the loader/bucket if you want to do some removal or relocation of snow. I wish I had gone with one of the loader mounted options that Courtney is talking about!! The back drag option woud be well worth the investment.

I have 3/4 pure stone in my driveway. Unless the stone and ground are frozen solid the skids I believe would just work into the stone and start pushing stone at some point. The best way I've found is using the bucket in float mode with the cutting edge tilted up an inch. I haven't had to clean up gravel out of my yard since I got the 1025r.

Hello Courtney, The HLA that you shipped out to me is working great pushing the Idaho snow deep and high! We're now doing double duty for a neighbor who plow is being repaired. If you could add this to your test group, leave the product containers outside after you spray the blade down. I am finding the aerosol cans are clogging up and won't spray on those 25 degree days. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Great comparison of the snow pushers. Also if the landpride is an 05xx model not a 10xx that could be the difference in weight. The 05xx is primarily built for the BX tractors therefore lighter.

Hey Courtney - Great comparison video. Happy with my HLA 1500. Its pretty much my starting attachment for the winter before I flip to the blower when i run out of push room. Haven't had much of an opportunity to use it here in New England yet this winter. Not complaining...Always happy to have a break from the heavy wet snows we tend to get here. All of that said, I am thinking about adding the HMWPE edge to the backdrag. How much would that be for the 1500? Thanks for sharing!

Courtney, sounds like you are going to get your chance to move some snow tomorrow morning. Thanks for the comparison. I have several Land Pride pieces and I will say that the rotary cutter appears to be built lighter than I expected but the back blade is very solidly built. The variation could be between attachment as well as between manufacturers.

When I bought my 2032R last year, I purchased the Frontier snowpusher with it for the 0% financing. I paid $1250. For that, I got the snowpusher with backdrag, polymer skid shoes and rubber blade on the backdrag and the pusher. I've only used it a couple of times but have not had any problems with it. I'm not near it now but, I highly doubt that it is 30 inches tall. 20 inches sounds about right. The fact that the backdrag does not cover the entire top is a benefit in my opinion. I have not found that it leaks snow when backdragging. The snow just sticks to itself and blocks the opening. The opening does however, give an indication as to how much snow is filling the box and, it makes it easier to clean the snow off the inside before you put it away. Frozen snow on the inside does reduce the usefulness.

I have to question the idea of calling them OEM. My parents and Grandparents had tractors and implements that were all made in International Harvester factories, in the late 60's that changed. Quite simply, i wouldn't count either Frontier nor Land pride to be OEM but a wholly owned subsidiary that is "preferred " by the tractor manufacturer but to me they are all aftermarket now. As evidenced by the fact most (not all) offer if you're willing to special order and wait, will sell them in a color to match your tractor.

So I would love the hla witch is built like a beast and has the nicest pull back option, but the price drove me to the frontier, which I also found used, for $700 about 30 min away on marketplace. I did go to deere for the pull back kit for touch over $150. And yes the pull back is fairly easy to bow. Again for the tots investment, I’ll modify as needed to stiffen it up later on if needed. So all in all I’m in it for under $900 and it’s been effective. Now moving it around it weights virtually nothing for its size. It’s a comfortable two person lift, so I can’t at all believe it weighs 400lbs. Maybe 200lbs…. Honestly it’s light. The skids are bolt on, as well as the pull back and main cutting edges are both reversible.

Ariens also markets a spray. Tried it last year and it did well in keeping the slush from clogging both my Ariens 1028 walk behind as well as the Pronovost INV-80 tractor mounted. Heavy wet slush is always the hardest to move. I've at times seen the "blowers" look more like sausage packers with a long tube of ice coming out of the chute. It's when it can't even push that that things clog and when the Provonost clogs, it's a solid mass to break up. Last year, we had 2 days that I was basically slinging slush and didn't have any clogging issues. Could have been just the wrong consistency, but it's pretty rare to not see the Ariens clog at least once in those kind of conditions. Hopefully we'll only get good snow this season and I'll never know if the spray works or not. (^_^)

I didn't want to comment twice but watching the video again I can't help but wonder why the manufacturer doesn't add a spring system like you would see you on a plow in front of a truck. That way when it hits large immovable objects the entire thing can flex and go over instead of just jamming and pushing into the object.
@JCWren
@JCWren 2 жыл бұрын
It would probably add about a foot to the length. Truck snow plows usually plow faster than you would on a tractor. So given the cost, added complexity, weight, length, and another point to fail, it's just not worth the cost.
@Allworldsk1
@Allworldsk1 2 жыл бұрын
I think you should develop a heated pusher.! If you heat the blade from the inside with propane you can probably completely stopped the buildup of the snow when you don't have to worry about it. Just have to engineer properly but that seems like the best solution that I have thought about. And I know there's going to be people to talk about the heat in the fire with the hydraulic system and everything else but that's why you keep everything separated safely. Attachments can go out quite far when you're talkin about snow pushing
@JCWren
@JCWren 2 жыл бұрын
You'd have to do some calculations for how many BTUs you'd need, but I suspect you'd be burning a lot of propane. The back of the pusher is a lot of surface area, so it'll cool really quickly. You'd also need a good bit of space to get a burner behind it and a place to mount the propane tank. The liability insurance on a product that like that would be through the roof.
