The paste is to increase thermal conduction normally to the heat sink which then release to air. In short thermal cooling.

A lot of the snarky/sarcastic remarks, although supposedly intended for “comedy”, were extremely distasteful and came off unpleasantly rude. Didn’t laugh at all this entire video
