Very different but also similar. Both have great bass....although the Top has more quantity Mids and highs the SA6MK2 is just surreal, that extra smoother.....more detailed.....more organic, so I would go with the Dunu.

Just got my pair of Studio 4. Hoooolllly crap these things sound smooth. Incredibly balanced with a touch of warmth. Waaaay better than the Blessing 3, imo. Will try mixing with them in Traktor next, but just listening to them, Im quite amazed so far. Im afraid they sound even better than the Senns HD600's, there I said it.

This really helps put things on perspective, thanks for the share. It's sad to see moondrop losing its mojo when it comes to tuning. On the other hand big thanks to Dunu to sticking to their winning formula bringing only minor shifts in tuning for the fans to enjoy what they missed in the discontinued editions.

If you look at frequency response Studio 4 and Blessing 3 are the best. The Dunu is heavier than neutral on bass. I understand that many people love that. However, if you have a good quality parametric equalizer or DSP you could accomplish heavier bass by turning up. For my 67-year-old, hearing Flat neutral sounds the best. Bass heavy really interferes with the other frequencies. Also, the power of very heavy bass is a detriment to your hearing.

Caveat Emptor re Studio 4. I've tested 3 different sets each bought around 4 months apart. In isolation, the tonality and mids is excellent. However when I came to revisit several of my tracks and clients' tracks in the studio (pun fully intended) the instrument placement of the Studio 4 was all over the place and completely incorrect. Sounds like the IEM Studio 4 is completely drunk and unable to correctly articulate and place. No such problems with the P8.

Really liked the video! I have a moondrop varistions, what do you think of them? Do you think any of thise may be a good upgrade? I ding have a general preference of tuning, i like the harman of the variations, but i also really love a neutral, less bass in ear...

I think performer 8 would be a good neutral sidegrade to your variations. It has a slight bass boost, with very high quality detailed bass. Definitely not overbearing by any means, just not lacking.

This is a great shootout selection. I've only heard P8, and didn't really care to try SA6 or another Blessing. Fantastic treble on P8, but very disappointing lack of bass, as a P5 owner. Lack of bass is its major problem, not price. If these other 3 IEMs have similar bass, I don't want them. Yet, I doubt these compare to my top 2 IEMs, U12t and Odin. :) Interesting that you have Penon in the description, but none are in the shootout. I am very skeptical of them, as well, when 85% of their rated store models all have 5/5 star reviews, some how. . . May I ask what approximate age your ears are?

Contemplating getting one of these in the 11.11 sales SA6 MKII is $500USD Studio 4 is $368USD Aful 8 is $330USD I will try to squeeze the sa6 mk2 but if I can't afford to get them which one would you say is a better value aful 8 or studio 4?

Have the p8 an sa6 mk2 and i prefer p8 veri similar to my mest mk1 is like 92% of the mest,just laks the incredible soundstage, en when yo a b them yo notes the quality of the drivers

@@akros9333 Ya, I've heard the bass has a nice tonality and is more of a kick, than a booming sound, but is less prominent than most iems. Either way, I would still have my Katos, so if I ever felt like I am in the mood for some bass I can go back and forth! Thank you for the reply!

Performer 8 is neutral with a slight bass boost. Variations is a sub bass focused Harmon tune, but it lacks mid bass. I’d get xenns top over variations, the midbass isn’t nearly as scooped. P8 is good for monitoring, but it also takes eq very well.

Hey, maybe someone will be able to help me.. I want to reach a higher level in IEMs. So far, I've had two pairs, KZ ZAX (I like their soundstage) and after a week, I bought Moondrop Kato, which were a significant improvement in all aspects (except for in some aspects soundstage). I had to learn them a bit due to their "shouty" vocals. Now I want to achieve another level up, and I have $500 for it. For a week, I've been watching and reading reviews and I'm considering: Aful Performance 8, Softears Studio 4, and Penon 10th. I listen to various genres of music, from classical to hip-hop, folk, jazz, and recently started learning techno. So, I'd like them to be somewhat versatile. I'd like to experience that "wow" feeling again, like when I switched from tws to iems. I would like this purchase to be top-tier, and the subsequent ones I will buy at lower prices for learning purposes if I feel the need. I know I'm starting from the end, but I'm impatient and have limited resources.

Told him, will try my luck checking with you, as I am not aware of any other reviewer who tests and compares in great detail as many IEMs as you do. Thanks! You don't usually talk about Amp/Dacs, but thought I shall try. For my recently purchased Senns HD660S2, I was contemplating Cayin RU7, dac/amp; portable and powerful i hear. @@akros9333 the bass opened up for me after I switched to final audio type e tips. Better fit for me. Had azla but it tamed bass. Switched to S&s , was better but got a greater fit with Type E

@@MaheshutubeI also want the ru7, lol. $300 is a bit of a gamble for a portable dac though when I already own a qudelix 5k, btr7 and Shanling m3 ultra dap. I’d say if you don’t have a good portable setup yet, go for it. I’ve heard great things about that and the hiby fc6.
