I really like the Recoil side better but they're both beautiful. This video was extremely in depth and helpful. I once asked another youtuber that was comparing these products what the difference was and she simply replied "They're different" while I did appreciate the she acknowledged my question I didn't feel like she answered it. However you just answered it so thank you!

Thanks for that review. I have both products and really like them both. I think your hair looks beautiful, if I have to choose 1 side, I'll pick the re-coil side. For sure, the re-coil is one of my favorite curl creams

For my thin, shoulder length hair, I use half the ReCoil you used for just one section, for my whole head. LOL I find a little really REALLY goes a long long way. I only found that out through some experimentation. I expect it'll take me a year to get through the whole bottle. I love it as it makes my hair super soft, and my curls last for days with just it and a bit of gel.

I managed to get my beautiful hands on the AG definer I need to do a haul video. I did see the recoil, but I have not seen any video until I saw that you ade video of both products. Oh by the way I managed to score on the biolage gel of all places my local grocery store😂

Great comparison! I own and use both but I have to use a harder hold gel with the curl fresh definer. Also the scent is really strong so I prefer the re:coil. It has a permanent place in my shower and I rotate other creams around it!

Thanks for the video. I am a fan of Recoil and Liquid Effects. I like the packaging of the larger bottle of Recoil as it has a pump so I don’t use too much. I have hard that it you use AG Plastique before the Recoil you get more volume but I haven’t tried it yet.

I like the recoil side much better. I’ve never used it but I have the curl fresh definer and it’s definitely not a one and done for me. It gives me decent curls but I have to add gel for hold. I do get some frizz like you did and it doesn’t really hold up for me over a couple of days, I have to refresh. I probably won’t buy it again. Might try the recoil at some point.

I like the recoil side better, I have had both products, for some reason the curl fresh definer keep on going liquid for me, had four bottles, that I have to return, my salon is the normal formula, says it on the bottle. Their going to look into it, it made a big mess at the salon one day. I have swapped it for the recoil and I have been liking it.

I like the Recoil side better too. I have the same problem with the curl fresh definer. I stopped using it because it annoys me. I’ve heard it’s been discontinued for reformulation because of this issue. hopefully they get it resolved. I did like it and would definitely use it if they fixed the formula. Thanks for the video. I love AG recoil and have been trying to get my hands on the fresh definer for weeks, it’s sold out in Australia at the moment. I think I’ll still give it a go, I have super fine hair. I need to find the right combination with the recoil, if I layer it with a gel it is too much for my hair. Hopefully the definer won’t be too heavy to pair with a gel.

Recoil for the win! How did both sides look on the second day? I am going to try out the Recoil, some gel & the AG mousse the next time I style. I don't use the Recoil much (not sure why?) I have eczema too. Severe eczema. I have to take a shot twice a month to control it. It has been a miracle drug for me. Nothing else would work. Pray yours is manageable. Tfs! Blessings!

I agree! On day two it was just a slightly frizzier version of wash day. The recoil stayed more defined than the curl fresh. Sorry about your eczema. My daughter struggles with it a lot more than I do. Mine is very manageable and basically only exists on my left elbow for some reason. Weird. Thank you for watching!

I liked the results of the refresh cream but ugh the smell! Total deal breaker, took it back to Ulta. I am so thankful for their return policy. If AG would just make the cream without a scent it would be so much better!

The curl fresh definer have been temporarily discontinued to reformulate it due to the inconsistency. Apparently a lot of the product was ending up too runny

😂2 minutes in… I put in too much Recoil. No wonder it left a gritty feeling on my hair 😂 If I still have my Recoil, you’ve inspired me to give it another try. I like curl creams with that sticky, clumping. You talked up the Living Proof Curl Definer and now it’s far and away my favorite curl cream, probably my favorite styling product- period. 💖

Lol. It’s definitely really easy to overdo the recoil. I’m so glad you found your favorite product through me! Yay! The Living Proof is such a good curl cream. The downside to having this channel and so many products is that I don’t get to use many products as often as I’d like. Would you ever cocktail the two or layer them together? Also, Curlsmith just came out with a thickening cream! I know you probably already have a ton of other products to get through, but will you eventually be testing that one out?

That’s a good question. I think I’d maybe cocktail them together and it would be mostly recoil with a smaller amount of the definer. I want most of the effects of the recoil with the added slip of the definer. That being said I can think of other combos I’d probably do before cocktailing these two. For example, I’d cocktail the definer with Evolvh Wonderbalm to help with the frizz. Or cocktail the recoil with the Curl Keeper curl cream because that one has a lot of slip. Or layer the recoil over a leave in with a lot of slip. Maybe Innersense Sweet Spirit leave in. I do plan on testing out Curlsmith’s new cream! I might try to get my friend Nicole back on here and test it on her hair. She has very fine low density hair and I think we’d see the effects of the cream on her hair more than mine. But I’m sure I’ll try it on mine too because why not? Lol. I also still need to try their bonding oil. So many fun things to try! 😁

You guys should both try the new thickening cream- it'd help viewers with both curl types see how their hair might respond to the product and would be a great comparison.
