About five months after the Palma de Mallorca Interzonal (1970) qualifier was held, the first stage (the quarterfinals) of the Candidates matches was held in four cities in May 1971. In Vancouver, Canada there was a 10 game match between Mark Taimanov and Bobby Fischer, played May 16th - June 1st. Fischer sensationally won the match with a perfect score of 6-0, thereby proceeding to the Fischer - Larsen Candidates Semifinal (1971). After the event, Taimanov was reported to have said, "At least I still have my music." He wasn't being merely melodramatic: the consequences of this loss were to haunt him for years. In an interview with Joel Lautier, Taimanov later recounted:
"Until the match with Fischer in 1971, everything went smoothly in my chess career. This dramatic match changed my life into hell."

Me : pieces are moving on the board Agadmator: this is the specific variation of the specific defense played to this kind of opening that has this name oh and by the way historically he chooses this kind of response as opposed to that kind of response because last time he did it it was in this tournament of that year in that location when he moved the piece exactly like this and not like that. Also do you remember this game by other players where they ended up in this position and played such and such moves ...

I've come across your videos at random several times over the last couple of months. I have to say I really like your style and your execution! You do a good job of compressing for time (which you must do for KZfaq videos), clearly have a lot of enthusiasm for these great games, and you cover the main ideas excellently. 320,000 subscribers? That's a lot for a chess channel, but I can see why you have so many. Add one from me after seeing this video - possibly the 6th or 7th of yours I've seen over the last few months - and thank you for your content. I look forward to exploring more and hope you come out with more in the future!

Thanks very much for the channel and your vast knowledge of games. I had been stagnant for a long while in improving , but , since I started watching all of these great games and seeing the ideas the best players came up with , my game is improving quite a bit . I went from 1475 to 1550 rating on chess.com for the last 3 years , to 1600 to 1700 and I can see that my board vision is much better. I need to do more tactics, as I am weak in that area, and I am sure the improvement will continue. Thanks very much I hope to one day be presented as hoodie man on your channel for a brilliancy!

It would be nice if the board could have a frame around it when you are showing possibilities. I am trying to follow the game and you provide many alternatives, causing me some distraction

6:31 “The d6 pawn is attacked 4 times, and if you try something like bishop captures, This was played in the game” Very smooth way of saying it doesn’t work!!

Outstanding channel...thank you so much...your videos are both informative and entertaining, I just sent you some monetary thanx. If I could ask a question, I am a novice chess player but want to get better, I like to read (real books), could you suggest a couple chess books for me to start with?

What's the best book for endgame knowledge 50 years ago are used to play in the open tournaments at the Henry Hudson Hotel and I used to play for three hours and be up at Pawn as soon as I walked into the endgame I would lose the pawn and fill my position to be losing a couple of comments on why The king or the rook moves to a certain position would be extremely helpful thank you

@agadmator at 14:58 why doesn't Fischer play rook to B6 check? It seems like the black king would need to retreat and then he could push the pawn out of harms way and with check

In min 8:20 why black has to go to b8? He could go to c8 and the rook would not be trapped and why in Minute 16:00 rook to h6 instead of g3?

In the position where the blunder happens, can you alternatively check the King with the bishop and push the pawn to h4 next move?

I believe that you have to explain that the king can get to the corner even if it is down a pawn and a bishop it is still a drawer so mark would have moved his King back to d6-e7 -f7 -g7 draw

15:00 Why not Rb6+ Kd7 and then many possibilities as white rook and bishop would be pretty active?
