The dog wakes up at 8:40, moving off the dark couch and onto the light floor. This improves the dog’s position exponentially, as it is now in a more favorable spot to attack the food bowl, while putting pressure on the door to outside.

However, Rover responds with nose to the couch. This is really an excellent move for Rover, as it could allow for ideas like sniffing the couch, or kicking Spot with his hind legs. Spot cannot counteract with moving across the room, because he is lazy.

As someone who's relatively new to chess it feels as though some high level games can be coasted through without any real ability or creativity. A low level player could more or less get to the drawn position agadmator points out simply by remembering the theory up until that point. Seems like only in the endgame is where real skill is introduced.

Amazing endgame by Carlsen. It is very hard to pinpoint when did Fedoseev in fact go wrong. Most probably, he should have played 66 b3 (instead of 66 Nxg5). This would have granted him a few crucial tempi and allowed him to sacrifice the knight for the black's queenside pawns. Great video as always agad! :)

+Chessentials I would say he didn't actually make a mistake. He played the second best move, and Carlsen played the best move. After a couple of moves, the position was winning. But who knows :D A highly enjoyable endgame :D
@ongbonga9025
@ongbonga9025 6 жыл бұрын
I don't think 66 b3 works. It buys white time, and although black will eventually have to give up his bishop for the h-pawn, black will have as compensation two linked passers on a+b with the king right next to them, vs white's knight all the way on h7. Something like... 66. b3 Bf7 67. Nxg5 Bg8 68. Nf3 Ke4 69. h4 Bxb3 70. h5 Kd5 71. h6 Bc2 72. Ng5 Kc4 73. h7 Bxh7 74. Nxh7 Kxb4 I think I like 65. Nb3, preparing Nc5. Black can't protect a6 fast enough, so white can break those pawns, abandon his pawns, and sacrifice his knight for the last black pawn, leaving Carlson's bishop to deal with the h-pawn. I think 65. Nb3 draws, so I feel like white blundered with either 65. Nf3+, or if that moves is ok certainly the pawn grab wasn't. The action is on the queenside and it will take too long for the knight to get there. Move 65 was a chance to get there quick enough to break the pawns.

Dear Sirs, Thanks for a great channel and analytical game. Timestamp: 12:54 - Bishop don't capture pawn on H5, instead makes a wait move on diagonal B1-H7, But not on C2 and H7. - When pawn is on H6, then bishop goes to H7! - Black is forced to move with King or Night and then is easy to win. Note: - No stalemate when Bishop captures Knight on C2, when the H pawn is alive!

@@dascandy I after taking the bishop you trade captures with the pawns and then you can abuse the king with the knight checking him one or two more times until you improve the position of the knight to where he can prevent a promotion. (this is more based on the hope that black misplaces the king at least once)

11:32 F6 was possible. yes, but then magnus would just do Kc4. NxH5 then a3. whether white would take it or not won't really matter since either a or b pawn would be queen-ing. (both white's king and knight would be too far away to prevent it) the only way to draw the game was to stop black from queening by removing both pawn, not taking the bishop. (black bishop was just a distraction)

11.31 - I'm just checking that the Black king moved to d5. Knight to f6 would win the bishop via fork but I guess it's too slow. The Black king would come to c4 and that'd be that.

12:54 After h5, Bf5, Be4, Bd3, and Bb1 all win: after h6 Bh7 White is completely zugzwanged for the same reason that he was forced to move the Pawn before--all moves lose the Knight without controlling the corner. This is easier than Carlsen's actual move of taking the Pawn.

This reminds me of the concepts of sieges. White made the fortress in the bottom left corner, while Magnus essentially "starved" white by making white have to move and lose pieces, thus losing the fortress and allowing Magnus to enter and forcing white to surrender.

I remember I played this girl that was part of the chess club when I was in high school and I think I was boasting that I was pretty good. we ended up starting a game and she was pretty much whooping me and I was overlooking everything. she took my queen and most of my peices actually. but but she ended up castling in the beginning and pretty much trapped her king in the corner. lol believe it or not that was the first time anyone used the castle tech on me and I was like what?! you get to move 2 pieces! but either way I ended up winning with a rook and a bishop while she still had a queen and I think it was 2 knights causing me to move my king quite often. lol I almost gave up, but all my years playing yugioh told me i had a chance with the heart of the cards!
