The Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz is the 4th stage of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour. The 10-player tournament takes place in the St. Louis Chess Club from 10-14 August. The prize fund is $150,000, with $37,500 for 1st place. 7 tour regulars, including World Champion Magnus Carlsen, are joined by wildcards Leinier Dominguez, Yu Yangyi and Richard Rapport.
The rapid section on the first 3 days is a single round-robin with a time control of 25 minutes for all moves and a 10-second delay from move 1. The final 2 days are a blitz double round-robin, with 18 rounds of 5+3 blitz. Rapid games count double, with 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. A 2-player tie for first will be decided by a 2-game rapid mini-match (10+5) and, if necessary, an Armageddon game (5 vs. 4). Official website: grandchesstour.org

Rahul Khanduri because 99.9999999999% of people can’t beat gms and it’s very likely he cannot beat Magnus Carlseon, not opinion or close mindedness...it’s objectivity

Calm down people. The purpose of the original comment was to make a joke about some questionable moves in this game, not to show any level of skill. I consider myself an intermediate player and I know that no matter how low on the clock GM would be, he would still beat me, since he can think when I'm making a move and that's already enough.
@danielnery4054
@danielnery4054 4 жыл бұрын
@Rahul Khanduri are you dumb? It's obviously an exaggerated percentage just to make a point, there aren't even enough humans on Earth to make that number possible. And I have no idea why you are so mad about this, maybe just to say to everyone that you can beat a GM.

This is not uncommon......the problem is you are too focused on the "main line" and expecting your player to do the best, or at least the best 3 or 4 movements...........but not when your opponent makes the WORST movement possible. You never consider the movements which come after a blunder.

#Suggestion From the 69th ch-RUS 2019 Women's tournament, there is the nice attacking miniature (28 moves) Shuvalova-Girya from round 3. From the same round Charochkina-Kashlinskaya has a very nice exchange sac combo (from move 37) by black that wins white's queen. In round 4 Girya strikes against #2 seed Kosteniuk with a powerful pawn center leading to a passed pawn. An excellent display of "passed pawns must be pushed" and how to do it, tying up your opponent in the process. Also Rd 4 Kashlinskaya-Tomilova becomes another passed pawn battle. All worth checking out but Shuvalova-Girya is perhaps the most exciting, especially with Girya currently leading the tournament! Keep up the great work.

@6:14 in the video: if Qxb2 and Rb1 to pick up the knight on b6 after the queen moves, then doesn't Qc3 defend because of white's back rank problems? (Also isn't it the same back rank that 2 super GMs missed?! Did Agad miss this too? Or am I missing something?) And if white continues with h3 to prevent back rank problems, then black can just simply push a3 and still the knight can't be taken, no?

My recently developed tactic involves missing that i can win an unprotected piece, then instead playing a shit move that loses me a piece. Done it three times this week.

At 6:19, the queen can capture on B2. If Rook to B1, it does not have time to capture the knight on B6. Reason: Q-d1, threatens mate in 2 if rook captures knight on B6.

#Suggestion Check out the game Moltylev-Inarkiev, 72nd ch-RUS 2019, round 1. A great back-and-forth attacking game. There is also the very interesting positional struggle Alekseenko-Artimiev from round 3 where it ends up being a rook ending with black a pawn up. You think, well this is a draw. Then Artemiev shows a clever way to breakthrough and win the game. Predke-Inarkiev from the same round has a race between black's kingside attack vs white's queenside passed pawn. In this case the passed pawn wins.

At 6:20 I don’t think white was worried about the knight, I think he was more worried about Ng5. Qe2 prevents the knight from being captured

#suggestion. I think the pictures you use in the titles of the videos should be for both the players, because in some instances we automatically know who won and I think it would be interesting if we had to watch the video without knowing

Yeah, there is a tactic (don't know if Levon saw why Bc3 is losing) it would have been followed by Nc5. Now, you still can't castle, and if you play any slow move, Ke4 comes with a double attack on white's Queen and bishop, though the bishop is only protected once, so you would lose a piece. I mean, if you want to cover the e4 square with Ng5, you just get h6, forcing Nh3 which is just terrible Then, last option if you move the bishop, you can either play Ba5, then white continues with his previous plan of Ne4 attacking the queen, and whereever you play your queen to, Rc8 is coming, threatening nasty things on the first row. Bb2 would be your only option, then comes Nd3+ which is just nasty really...

Rc8 and you need to move it to b2 again becuse if it goes to a1 Qc1 wins a rook.

At 06:13 where you propose the Qxb2 line, surely this is immediately winning for black? So, after Qxb2 you go on to say white will play Rb1, then picking up the knight on b6 after the black queen moves. BUT, this doesn't work for white as it leaves him open to a back rank mate. For example, if black plays Qe2 after Rb1, white can't play Rxb6. Am I missing something...? EDIT After Qe2, white doesn't play Rxb6, but Ng5. I haven't calculated all the variations, but it looks like white should at least draw e.g. Ng5 Ra8, Qxh7+ Kf8, Qf5 etc.

The commentator would also scream that GMs can miss a mate, Grischuk is the one that failed to notice it against Anand in one of the games. Google it. ;)
