I was in freshman or sophomore year of highschool. I remember seeing it on MTv and immediately fell in love with this song. The music video is fantastic. Definitely still holds up.

Haven't listened to this in forever. Think I saw Against Me play more than any other band back in the day. Mostly local underground shows but with Foo Fighters after they got big. Always loved the energy.

I discovered this band because I first heard this song while sitting in my car in line to get into the Hoover dam. The car in front of me I had the top down and all I could hear with my windows closed was the baseline for the song and I thought damn that sounds really fucking cool and then I just had to try to remember a few of the lyrics so I could Google it later. Can’t stop listening to this song.

Album that I liked, but my father who was an OG goth and punk in 76 77 owned every album and couldn’t care less about what you think. When we met Against Me! Mary Sue according to Laura in her book Tranny, he didn’t like it and he hated the cover of the album too. She mentions he said it in a way that really bummed them out and it played a huge part in why they went to Warner Bro’s for their next album.

Man, when this came out I was 9 years old... I've been reading Laura's biography and this song just makes captures how she described when feeling like a sell out, and having her own community push back against them. the repeated "you're losing touch" really hammers in how they where having this message constantly bombarded against them

Cody Wirth his name is Thomas James Gabel, he was not Laura grace during this time. Don’t erase his past because of who she is now, I knew these guys before they signed with fat wreck and as much as I respect the hell out of them he was a awesome musician and deserves recognition before his departure.

IMO this album was the start of their downfall and they just got worse and worse. Pains me to say it because their first two albums were classics. But those two were produced by Rob McGregor. Now they sound like some shitty ass Green Day ripoff.
