This was an amazing game! I never knew which side would win until the very end! I can't believe how well beasty was putting pressure on viper, and how well viper was defending that pressure and counter attacking, from the very beginning to the very end!

At 4:27, TheViper didn't need to finish his walls - he already managed to quickwall in Beastyqt's spears. Quickwalling is one of his favorite pastimes in AoE2, so I'm not surprised he's practicing the same thing in AoE4 :).

That was a masterpiece to watch, viper absolutely decimated his entire civ, like a lion unleashed from his cage. The backdoor landmark attempt reminded me of bd in dota lol.

Truly a battle between the Gods! but clearly Beast didn't have enough game with the Mongols he got excessive food most of the game and played right into Chinese later game strength, he would have won the game if he keep the pressure in castle age, that early Imperial age didn't help him at all. and on the other hand the Champ just played a perfect Chinese game for himself! what an amazing match!

I've been binging on your AoE4 casting videos ever since I randomly stumbled upon your channel. I don't play this game and it's daunting to even think about it, but I really enjoy the quality of your casts nevertheless. I have the impression that Viper is constantly trying new things and that's what make his games interesting. He casually tried all the chinese dynasties units and buildings against the number 2 of the ladder. Once he starts to play seriously he simply destroys his opponents...

AOE4 has been my first AOE game. Watching players at the top level is so mesmerizing. I just don't get how they do it. I am still learning and working on my key binds. I am too scared to try online play. My buddies and I have worked our way up to the Hardest AI. We beat them occasionally, but this game's AI on Hardest are just flawless aggressors.

Great game! Beastie is an amazing player, he really is one of the best... but man, viper's macro is just so perfect. He just nails the big picture: army comp, economy, and army positioning

An absolute masterpiece of a game. Anyways, for me there are a few takes from this game: - Beasty's and Viper's micromanagement is pretty much on par with each other. That's from me watching a few games of them playing against each other. In one other game, I thought Viper was at a disadvantage on that end, but his performance In this game is way better than that one so I guess he just didn't have his warm-up the other day or something like that. Which is lovely to know. - As a follower of both Starcraft 2 and AOE2, I definitely can confirm that these two had managed to translate the way they play those two other games into AOE4. I mean, to move out with that small group of units to harass in age II is definitely an AOE2 move (which is actually much more efficient to do in AOE4 because in AOE4 the arrows do guarantee hit), and the move a hit squad of units with one high-value artillery unit to break static defense or to clear a small group of defending unit that the enemy left behind is a Starcraft 2 move. There are a lot of other things as well but I'll just point out the 2 that stand out the most. - I'm actually quite surprise that a lot of people are saying that Viper is taking a handicap by playing the Chinese, especially after their being buffed. I mean, the Mongol shouldn't be so clearly better anymore. Anyway, from what I see, it might be safe to say that the strength of the Chinese lies in the fact that their economy is more efficient with all the buffs and their units are cheaper and thus are more cost effective to trade. And the map is very convenient for this play style too, as it is fairly wall-able. I mean, Beasty was clearly controlling more of the map and made the most out of within his micro capacity and yet the Viper was sitting on better income while controlling only 2/5th of the map and also came on victory in the end in the war of attrition. (And with Viper taking a couple of bad trades here and there as well). - This game demonstrates how the Mongols inability to wall themselves could be a problem in the very late game, because once you get wiped there's just nothing there to buy time for you to rebuild your army. The opponent would just find themselves in the heart of your production facilities.

This game pretty much explained the importance of the Great Wall... BTW, very entertaining game and very well covered!

The other pond seemed to only contain 2 fish.

Beasty has incredible micro. Springalds are like snipers in Company of Heroes. Half the effectiveness is mental. Viper seems to favor spears plus archers.

Dealing with fire lancers in late game as mongols seems kinda tricky considering you can't build walls

Hey Aussie, I think the cause of the bug of non-moving units is caused by the player sending the "attack command near some units (not directly on them). However, the player's units decide to lock onto a ship, but cant physically reach them. So, they stand still cuz it cant reach ships.

Man the patch changes really changed things up. Id love to see more civs have their "own" units. China has gotten great men at arms (palace guards), fire lancers are really good at taking out buildings AND units, Nest of bees arent terrible either. Gotta say when it comes to civ that has the most overall uniqueness to them its China.

Dont play the game but have watched a few replays, this was the first I really enjoyed. No constant forward wall or castle building which I hate, just army building and let strategy decide the victor.

The slow Imperial age paid off for Viper. Why didn't Beasty go straight for bombards as soon as he hit age 4?

Mongols really can't deal with firelancers on open maps. Bit funny when you consider what Yuan dynasty is all about.

I think I've seen that game a hundret times already. Viper plays greedy, trys to pick up every advantage adong the way and then claps the opposition in lategame.

AoE4's competitive scene continues to look better and better.

Ridiculous civ. Lost dozens of troops, but still kept siege power, horse power, fast pikemen, better buildings and economy.
