WELCOME TO SPEARHEADZ! This casual gaming series is going to explore Warhammer's new format of fixed-list casual gaming. This wide-onramp new system for playing Games Workshop's cosmic-fantasy wargame is perfect for the kitchen-table game crowd and is perfectly suited for where I'm at with gaming.
The Fire and Jade book in the new Skaventide boxed set has the complete game along with all the armies for this format; so we're going to dig into that all week long!

Random Skaven lore, the Under Empire had actually united before the End Times, in order to fight Nagash for Nagahashizzar. They in fact lost the war, as he managed to bleed the entire Under-Empire of the time dry of resources. He was also bled of resources and was basically seconds from true death when the Skaven sued for peace and made a deal for warpstone. Fortunately for the Warhammer world the Skaven knew the threat he was and betrayed him before he could finish his plans to conquer the world.

The award for the smallest Spearhead model count goes to the Son's of Behemat, with 3 Mancrusher Gargants.

Questions to @GMG Do you think the Cards have too much influence on the game? From all the replays that I have seen, I think you can be screwed by the Cards quite heavily So I am wondering to add a house rule (as GW is not going to change anything) Either a) Once per game, at the start of your battle round, Discard up to 3 cards and replace them with 3 new cards OR b) At the start of your battle round, you can discard 1 card and replace it with 1 card from the Deck

Watch Season if War. They have done battle reports for every faction (although some are members only).

Ash, don’t forget, models don’t take health loss, units do. That can make charges from your opponent.

I don't know if its just me, but I kinda feel like the person going second should count as the round 1 underdog. Especially since a unit which has a movement of 5 still will probably make a charge. It might be different for 2000 point games, but at least for these small ones...

I feel like there just shouldn't be a twist in round 1. Will need hands on playtime to really know though

Going second in 1 is a bid for double turn and to control the engagements.

im looking for an Ogor Mawtribes army and realised 2 spearhead boxes would be perfect (to save money), just switch the 2nd tyrant for a butcher and add another unit of gluttons and a mawpot to complete it. Meatfist 2k (according to warscroll) Leaders: Tyrant (150) - Butcher (130) (mawpot) Units: 3x6 Gluttons (720) - 2x 4 Leadbelchers (300) - 2x 2 Mournfang Pack (300) for flanking. Artillery: 2 Iron Blasters (400) what you think? should i go with this ? :D

Great battle report but I thought skaven auto wounded on 6s would have made a big difference in round 1 against the lead belchers

I thought Combat Phase abilities triggered at the start of the phase for both players before Fights. Active player uses all of their abilities, then defending player, then Fights. So the Rat Ogres would have had to decide to super juice before any attacks were rolled. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Great game guys. I think you set up wrong though. On that board your territories are in corners hence the diagonal line across the board. Its the other side you set up on the 2 long ends. Keep up the battle reports, there a lot of fun.

You get to choose if you’re doing diagonal or flat on either side.

Can you refill your hand if you choose to take the double like Ash did in round 4? I thought that was the big new thing for 4th. Does being the underdog let you break that rule?

So David chose for me to have the double in that turn I believe, meaning I did refill my hand

You only don’t refill it if you win the initiative and make the choice to.

Oh, I thought you won the roll. Edit: Yes, rewatching it you won the roll and chose to take the double in round 4 so shouldn't have refilled your hand.

@@PickleTheHutt I might have! I honestly can’t remember as we’ve played so many games now but it’s definitely come up a couple times that the doubles been forced and they still get a refills

@@GuerrillaMiniatureGamesyou don't draw cards if you choose to take a doble, which you did in round 4. You do however draw cards if you are the underdog and losing by 5 or more points. And ofc if opponent gifts you the double, you draw as normal.

I gotta admit I also don't like the turn 1 twist, it just feels odd that there is a "twist" before the battle even begins. Also kinda important note, if you take the double you Don't get to draw any cards.
