Japan and South Korea are among the fastest ageing nations. Can a greying Asia and their elderly prosper? In Japan’s Mie Prefecture, the once thriving pearl industry is losing its lustre, as climate change hits yields, leading to an exodus of young blood. It’s a preview of how the economy - especially sunset sectors - could be affected as the pool of young workers shrinks. In South Korea, newly created jobs are mostly going to seniors, who are seeking fulfilment and additional income, rather than those in their 20s. As the elderly live and work longer, how is this changing the employment landscape and retirement?
As seniors begin to outnumber youth in South Korea, places like schools are reaching out to the elderly to arrest problems such as falling enrolment. The rise of school-age grandmothers and octogenarian models points to how society could be reshaped to create new runways for the older generation. We look at how Asia’s grey tsunami has a silver lining in CNA Correspondent.

Invest while you're young, so you don't purely rely on savings from employment for your future needs such as retirement. You can never outpace inflation with savings alone

we're always depending on kids, either indirectly through other people's kids (pensions) or your own.

Absolutely not, overall quality of the local environment goes down when you bring such as heartless as it sounds, seen it happen way too many times.
