I was just there 2 days ago. The canals were not blue but murky. Still rad to see these in the Salt Flats though. FYI, take exit 4 and go North to the gas station near the freeway. That road will take you back about 1/4 mile to one of the canals. This is public land and also the road that takes you back to the Salt Flats Raceway. Great little stop for some cool photos and the opportunity to drive on the Flats at any speed you like. Just make sure you stay on the road during the winter/early spring or you will get stuck in the mud out there.

@@ImageThisPhoto Thats not how a scientific theory works, jackass. "Theory" in scientific language is a completely different concept than "theory" in layman's terms. A scientific theory involves factual, proven, empirical information that is all connected in some way, and the only missing piece is exactly how those facts are connected. Its not the same as the common way people would think of a theory as a guess -- in scientific terms, that is described by the term "hypothesis", although a hypothesis is generally much more well developed and educated than a regular guess or layman's theory. Y'all really missed 6th grade science where you should have learned this very basic information? Are you proud of having the scientific literacy of a 3rd grader? You should be ashamed instead. You don't know better than experts and people who have studied from reputable academic institutions for 20 years. You just think you are smarter than you really are, and you think that reality is whatever you decide.

The masses have spoken, they want access to a unique area like this... looks like this mining company has been presented with an opportunity to develop a new revenue stream and solve the problem of people accessing their water by capitalizing on this demand for unique entertainment. We all share this world together. What's wrong with people trying to enjoy something without being exploited by somebody else that feels they have a higher claim over us. Nothing but rules, regulations, and fees.....freedom please!!! Freedom is eternal vigilance in today's currupted enslaved reality.

It's funny how the authorities always try to stop us from enjoying gods free gifts. I'm sure they are working on a way to cash in on this gem of a geological feature. I fully understand the parking issues. Please do not park on or near the freeway. This being said I hope people are careful and respectful and dont do things to damage the ecological area.

I just watched a video about the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. It reminded me of this, and that’s why I came here. So in Iceland, someone made a lagoon for bathing, from the mineral water that is basically a by product of a geothermal plant there. It is now part of a lush resort that makes a ton of money from tourists. This seems like a missed opportunity to me. These owners could probably make a ton of money if they made these canals safe for people, put in a parking lot and charged a nice entrance fee.

just gunna copy/past what i already wrote -> As a long time over the road truck driver I cant even remember the amount of times I've seen wreckers on that stretch of road pulling cars (including a few big trucks) out of the muck.. I've been passed by cars going 120+mph easy on that stretch of road only to see them wrecked a couple miles later.. and people think its safe to park on the side and have a pick-nick and drink a beer.. sheesh.

I believe these canals are part of the reason that the Bonneville Salt Flats are deteriorating. They extract the potash and it affects the quality of the salt, which leads to problems with the surface of the flats and leads to problems for the speed record races held annually on the flats.
