As far out as one can get in the continental United States is a place tethered to nothing other than the open skies, dramatic landscapes, and a deep feeling of freedom. Removed from the stresses and restraints of the cities is a community living by their own rules. Today, we meet up with a local character named Will, who shows us what living out here is like in rural Utah and why he can't imagine it any other way.

"guide service" is likely about to get shut down by BLM/NPS. His 15 minutes of fame couldn't help him from running his mouth and putting a target on his back. We all own that land and entrust management agencies to regulate commercial activity in order to preserve and protect it. Pirates are selfish and don't truly care about the places they trample. "Operating without a required SRP or participating in a non-permitted event or activity that requires an SRP is a Federal Class A criminal misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $100,000 and 12 months incarceration." He'll be back in Jersey, hanging drywall, and paying us back soon enough.

I live somewhere similar, in terms of ruralness, lack of formal law enforcement, and community policing. We have the elected sheriff (and no deputies) for ~65 square miles of county. There was a man who was rumored to have raped a girl. The girl was definitely raped, the sheriff couldn't peg him for it, but he'd apparently been bragging about it at the local bar the next day. A few weeks later he was found floating in the river and just loaded with lead. Sheriff ruled it a hunting accident and never bothered to investigate. The vigilanty/community justice Will talks about is super real in places without police.

As a Southern Utah resident, just on the western side of the state, the area he took you through is absolutely one of my favorite areas of the state! He's not kidding when he says it's an extremely remote area with minimal services... And that's a great thing!! That's where I love to go to escape civilization. I also grew up very similarly to him, only in CT. Anyone who's ever lived in the Tri-State area knows how hectic things are and what a lack of a moral compass there really is there. That was the most telling thing for me too when I moved to Utah was that there really was value on human life and a solid moral compass.. This is one of the many reasons I've stayed here, along with the unbelievable natural beauty! He's definitely a bit more hardcore than me though doing the van life. I give him a lot of props, but he's chosen an incredible area to hang out in!

I just left this town. Cool town. I four-wheeled around a bit and no one bothered me. It's pretty secluded but I wouldn't say it's the most secluded. There's definitely not a whole lot going on but It is Monday. If you need to grocery shop you're for sure limited and I bought the last frozen steak in the place. What I will say was pretty disappointing is there is a lot of garbage and broken glass in the desert and trails immediately surrounding/within the town. So much so that I was worried about puncturing my tire while driving around the trails in the town. It's a shame that when people get freedom they use it to destroy and use their freedom to free themselves of respect and since. That same mentality is why the government is restricting what we can do on our own public lands and why we are losing a lot of our dispersed camping areas and off-road areas.

Mitragyna Speciosa Kratom Plant saved me from a ridiculous heavy legal pill (opioids) addiction. Ive been Sober since 2017. Kratom is a plant thats legal in most states in the USA . It works so well and cheaply the powers that be (Pharma ?) are trying to discredit it. Kratom pulls you out of withdrawal and can have pain relieving and sedating effects in larger doses. You can take to much and it will make you feel dizzy lightheaded blurred vision and its not a good feeling to me. If you take to much (abuse) allergy meds or cough syrup or many other medications its not a fun feeling unlike the legal pills were at first. Used even semi wisely its so much better than being addicted to the alleged cure pills like Buprenorphine or any of the dangerous addictive treatments prescribed today by expensive doctors and expensive medications to replace a drug very similar chemically and in its addictive potential. These cures using pills like Buprenorphine only switch your addictive substance to another addictive toxic substance. Kratom is also addictive but its all natural plant derived and pennies on the dollar compared to US AMA cures . Big Pharma must always get paid. First i get addicted to there synthetic Opioids (Oxycodone) then they sell you an expensive cure pill (Buprenorphine) which you have to take daily or face worse withdrawals than the Oxycodone it replaced. How does any of that make sense ? Kratom i take twice daily or whenever i feel bad and i am able to function like a regular person. Kratom has saved many people read all you can about it . Keep in mind the source because there is a lot of negative propaganda about it from uninformed people. Read the reddit forums or whatever social media you want but listen to actual users both good and bad reviews although there are fewer by far negative reviews because this plant has helped so many people with the only downside at least for me is having to take it daily as it does have some withdrawals if you just quit taking it. Coffee does this Sugar does this many things we use daily will have some side effects as well as withdrawals if you just stop taking it daily we just call them cravings or coffee headache’s some other socially excepted term. Kratom is from Asia and is grown and used in many countries and cultures as a pain killer and probably other uses. In the last 5 years it has been sold in smoke shops across America. I buy my Kratom in bulk rather than the ridiculously overpriced smoke shop varieties. Unfortunately smoke shops also sell Kratom extracts which are concentrated and IMHO serve no useful purpose because like anything more isnt always better. If you have read this far then maybe you will do a proper thorough internet search and look at both sides of this plants properties and responsible usage. Here is the actual name to start your research …. Mitragyna speciosa. Sorry for the long rant but if even one person reads this and i have avoided saying this up front . If you have read this far then maybe you need a change or just someone who has been theres advice . You can quit heroin oxycodone any opioids and to some degree alcoholism with this amazing plant and the most amazing thing about this is it will save you from having withdrawal within 10 minutes of taking a spoonful of this powder all that agony and sickness is gone . This alone makes this plant amazing. It works by attaching to the opioid receptors in the human body yet its not an opioid. I hope at least one person has been helped by me writing this long comment my writing and english skills could be much improved from my casual run on forever sentences 😅

I've never been to an amusement park, Disney land or Disneyworld, etc. but have been to all of the lower 48 and 9 Canadian Provinces. A note on terms. I think that, while one can escape urban areas, few can escape civilization in this age. Every item you carry with you is the result of, and depends on, the material culture of civilization. You can add to that: the very thought process in your head and the laws you are subject to, written or imagined. It is because of civilization that you exist the way you do. Every year that I can, I take my van out and escape "my normal life" to go to the desert, but I stop by civilization first to keep the van in shape and stock up for the trip. Can't do it with rocks.

@@CrimsonCapsule The world exists as it does due to a combination of men and women. You have a mother, correct? Men wouldn't be here without women, and vice versa. We're both essential to the survival of our species. While much of the physical world we live in was constructed by men, a lot of societies turmoil was caused by them as well. Men have committed literal genocides to fuel their own egos. Rapes, murders, etc...an overwhelming percentage of violence in the world is mens doing. It's also worth mentioning that for a lot of history, women weren't taught to build anything, or given a voice in making major world decisions. Our role was wife, mother, maid, caretaker, cook, etc. So, of course a lot of the world was built by men when women were barred from participating. Knowing several women in STEM fields, I promise you it's not due to our lack of ability. I hate that men and women have become so pitted against each other. The modern day "Independent Women" that men seem to be so salty about, are a result of women getting tired of being treated like shit for generations. Now that we're better able to support ourselves monetarily, we're pickier about what kind of men we're willing to put up with, and it's causing quite the rift.

Nice work as usual, Peter, showing us who we inhabit this earth with. The wonderful people that we forget to look for and love. Man... You let me feel like a citizen of "Earth" instead of some party, religion, or neighborhood. Interestingly, the feeling is comparable to the love and joy one feels by being in awe of a spectacular scene in the wilderness, an experience with an animal that warms the heart. You tap the experience of AWE. Which, I have learned is a very important thing to experience in physical and mental health. Thank you for providing the very healthy AWE, we need. FANTASTIC!

As someone who loves the desert, this place is gorgeous. That store built inside the mountain dugout is like a theme park for me. Would love to go there some day.

This is the life I lived in Nevada for 30 years until a serious accident caused me to relocate. Now I live on the Oregon coast. Some people would call this remote, but I call it too citified for my taste. I long for the solitude and simplicity of the high desert and seeing this video made me hunger for it even more. Thank you so much for going there. I think you had a really good time from the looks of it.🥰And net some real people who know what matters.❤

Guess you’re the new Saturday morning cartoons these days lol. As I always try to make clear, thanks for all you do and I hope you have been enjoying yourself out there and taking care of yourself. Until the next one I’ll be looking forward to it ! Thanks Peter and Natalia for the excellent work editing! All the best!!!

Into my 7th decade now, I’ve decided you’re either a desert person or a mountain person; either a “people “ person, or an “alone” person. There’s a whole lot of open spaces in the West to make those happen. Don’t fence me in….

We tend to lionize or at least fantasize about these types of folks and their living situations, but the older I get the more I realize we should br celebrating those who've chosen to participate and make better our imperfect society

I grew up in rural Ohio and complained about it probably everyday. Now that I’m 35, living in the burbs since 25, being in corporate America, around humans everyday, the desert doesn’t seem so bad after all!

The American Southwest is gorgeous. It's fascinating, dangerous and beautiful, all at the same time. Depending where you are, the summers can be brutal, but in most places, the rest of the year is fantastic, although the rainy (monsoon) season can be tough sometimes. The people are independent and hard working but also very friendly. They can read a BS'er real quick and they don't like people that are looking for handouts. These areas can draw a lot of transient people and some that are looking for a place to do drugs and not deal with the law, etc., but they also draw creative, artistic, strong, independent trailblazers that many times, are jacks of all trades and masters of more than one........ The one thing almost all people living the Southwest have in common, is their love of freedom. People from these areas don't like big government or excessive regulations or a lot of oversight. They do things right on their own, they don't want a "big brother" constantly watching over their shoulder........ and charging them money for it at the same time.
