My autumn plans include sewing a dress out of this celestial print bedsheet I found at the goodwill, and wearing it to the apple orchard along with the witch hat I crocheted, and proceeding to pick way too many apples and tiny gourds whilst looking like an astronomy prof from Hogwarts. ✨

I made a Poison Ivy costume years ago and definitely used the machine to “stitch” the leaves. It definitely went faster but DO NOT LOOK AT THE INSIDE! I love that the color pattern kind of reminds me of a phoenix :)

Okay first of all, I was so excited when I saw on your IG story you were putting out this video, because all I want is to share ideas with the creators I admire on social media and for them to go "yes good this is an excellent idea I agree." So you literally made my WEEK! Second, coming back with more random animal facts that no one asked for: the 2nd bird pic you showed was that of a yellow-billed magpie which is my favorite corvid (usurping the ravens of yesteryear); they happen to be an endangered species endemic to the Central Valley of California where I live. They are little trash gremlins, with the prettiest blue streak in their wings, and sound like they're laughing when they all come together and sound a predator alert (we had a lot of stray cats in our neighborhood). Third: I totally agree about making stuff just to paint and weather it. THE best part of any project. Anyway, love how it turned out!! It looks so good, you can't even tell there's hot glue. The flutter sleeves were definitely the way to go!

I love how you deal with your chaos. Yes I'm one of those "old ladies" who likes what you wear but doesn't have the nice figure to wear them... also I live in Oregon so my leaf dress when I get to putting it together will be more late Victorian in style. I react to sewing machines the way you react to putting sleeves in... hence my hand sewing everything.

I had an idea similar to this, but paint the leaves instead, and make it look like the leaves are falling down the dress and collecting at the hem. (The inspo was Rachel's recent corset video)

This is going to be the weirdest complement but hey I'm known for weird complements anyway I'm so glad you show how many times you rip it out and lose motivation because I wanna get into sewing (but I'm too poor for a sewing machine) and making my own clothes is a dream that I'm intimidated by and I like to see that I'm not just a fail human and people who do this for work/hobby also get frustrated and put projects in time-out

I'm so excited for this !! This reminds me of the nature fairy from the line of Tinkerbell movies - I'd say if it was that shredded it was very very successful XD IM SORRY I HAD TOO ! the real Edward was as pure as a snowflake ba dum tssss - hey stop beating yourself up! If the executive producer had half the bottom half of that dress you were cutting around at 5 ish minutes in so it spread out fully it would have naturally draped the way you had hoped!! Every project no matter how many years you've been sewing is a learning curve!!!!! I chalk up mine to no end and make sketches for hours before I make cuts and still mess up BUT THATS WHERE LEARNING BEGINS! but making edit notes where things went wrong can help for next time and I gotta get with the digitalness bc it'd be so much faster and I could add pics along the way but my ADHD likes hand writing on paper so I'll index card my way thru making sure to number them by the end I'll have enough to novel XD (I've been sewing for only a total of maaaaybe three years of my 24 on earth this go around as knitting and hand sketching is more my speed ) It takes that long to learn how your own brain works and sometimes ur brain switches up on you without notifying you the mandatory 6 weeks notice HOW RUDE!

I started sewing this year because for 1 I wanted to be able to make my own fantasy clothing, and 2 because I like the way the string threads through fabric ( may brain loves the way it looks, and it feels so satisfying to see my SUCCESSFULLY threaded needle go through the fabric so effortlessly )🧐
