Just a tip ~ the back opening you patterned was a straight line but the finished look of the laced back you wanted is a V opening, that is why it didn't work the first time and the finished look doesn't have that wide lacing panel you wanted. Hope this helps for future projects can't wait to see more.

I've started my first sewing project in over 4 years! You have been such a big inspiration and motivation for me to get back into sewing. Making a faux fur cape for my witch outfit (currently just a hat I made like 6 years ago). Got plans to make a full autumn inspired outfit 😊 Also when my dog and cat kept coming to check on my progress - wanting to get in the way- I felt like I was recreating one of your videos😂

Psssst I have THE trick for gathering... You use a large zig zag stitch and during sewing, you place a long thick thread in the middle, under the foot of the machine, parallel to the stitching so that it's trapped between the stitches, then when you've done your length, you pull on it (secure one end first) and voilà ! (tips from a costume maker)

The castle at 4:07 is in Slovakia, it's called Bojnice castle. I was like: "Wait! I know you!" So yeah, just a bit of The more you know. The dress is beatiful and I hope to make it sometime in the future, because 'tis whimsical.

If you're ever looking for another technique for finishing armholes check to see if you're sewing machine has any overlock stitches. If it does you can sew the sleeve on line a normal seam, then trim the seam allowance and overlock over the seam allowance using your machine until the overlocking overlaps itself. I've done this with lots of projects and it even stands up to the washing machine.

I have a suggestion for the little curly bits. If you cut the ribbons in circles and hem them with fishing wire they end up really curly and don't lose shape.
