Hello, Im not sure if youll see this. But last night was our first ever online raid and we used this design. It took the attackers 4+ hours 12+ C4 and 8+ rockets for them to give up. They did not find TC and the entire time we had a ton of fun defending the base. My entire group would like to extend their thanks and gratitude for such an amazing base design. We couldnt have asked for anything better

I made this build for the last wipe; with minor variations due to my construction errors and it made it through to wipe. I was offline raided last night by experienced raiders on the server. Looking at what they attempted, I can see they were very confused about their strategy. Initially they tried going through the front, blowing up the three doors to get to the hatch. They stopped after entry to the hatch and decided to go through the second floor walls outside. Upon getting entry they then blew up a floor wall to get to the first floor furnace room. At this point, they ran out of munitions and left. I still had three more garage doors to get to main loot and a reinforced window for TC. Base design gets an A+ from me, even if they had successfully raided it, it is still an amazing and defensive design. Ive grown very fond of the base. Huge fan of all your base designs and thanks for all the hours it takes to design the bases, film, and edit them. Have a good one...

Aggravator raid story time! (TL;DR: Aggravator is my all-time favorite base, and it's even better in a cave). Expand this comment if you want to be regailed with my recent experience of solo-defending my underground Aggravator from a well-organized raid. So I'm playing on a vanilla quad monthly server, end of week three. The most active and successful group on the server is bragging about how much sulfur they have, calling out who they're going to raid next, taunting them for a while, then swooping in to raid them and grief their base. I had been living in a nice cozy cave on a snowy mountain, pretty close to launch site and train yard, and unfortunately also next to the jerkbags with the boxes full of sulfur. I had managed to lay low for most of the wipe, but Friday night they saw me coming out of the cave and the jig was up. What the raiders didn't know however, was that I am a diligent student of Evil Wurst, Prince Vids, Viceless Games (now "Vis Versa Games"), and Twisited, and I had been preparing for this moment for the past couple of weeks. FPS PVP isn't my jam and this game is just one big building simulator to me. The setup: Caves are small, round, and two stories tall. They fit the Aggravator like a glove (minus the roof, the back honeycomb, and the turret pods, which you don't need anyway cause.... it's a cave.) Prince Vids' door push bunker (which I've yet to see a raider ever exploit its weakness where you can allegedly push past it, cause most people have never even heard of a roof push bunker) takes a bit of horizontal space but very little vertical space, so is perfect for the cave entrance. Behind that I placed an airlock up to the second floor and blocked the corridor into the second floor of the aggravator with a roof stability seal that I placed from within one of the auxiliary rooms. In this particular setup, the stability seal is great not just for offline raid defense, but for online raid defense as well, which we'll get to later. I spammed garage doors all over the second floor and threw a couple auto turrets in the middle of the second floor, hooked up to a gas-powered generator turned on by a pressure plate hidden under a sleeping bag behind the roof-push entrance bunker. The raid: My stage was set and I heard the first rounds of explosive ammo starting to blow through the sheet metal doors in my high-qual door push bunker entrance. These guys had raided everything bigger than a 1x2 in the region and they were salivating at the prospect of fresh meat right on their doorstep. "Oh Benny boy," they said. "Guess what time it is." I upgraded the roof stability seal and the walls around it to high-qual, so now there's two layers of high qual bunker between the raiders and my Aggravator. These guys were not lying about their mountains of sulfur, and they made short work of both armored bunker seals and all the garage doors in-between. They ripped down 2 more garage doors and were pushed temporarily back into the airlock by the autoturrets waiting for them. This was the moment I had been waiting for. I quickly replaced the roof stability seal and pulled out my hammer to upgrade it to high-qual, but these were experienced raiders and they shot down the roof before I could upgrade it. This was unfortunate, as now they were wise to my plan to block them by replacing the stability seal. My auto turrets meanwhile were proving to be nearly useless. The new patch made them "undrainable", which apparently rather than having better aim, simply means they don't shoot anybody if they're peeking out from a corner, and I listened to the raiders shred one of them with their AKs while my turrets made sad little noises and didn't fire a single shot. I opened the doors to my auxiliary room and entered the fray to give my remaining turret some support, but my PVP skills are lackluster at best and it wasn't long before their boots were trodding over my corpse and the remains of my two autoturrets. Looking around themselves the raiders were now faced with a labyrinth of garage doors leading in every direction. They kept tearing down more garage doors in a straight line to the back of the cave, which was a good choice because that's exactly where I had the chute leading down into the primary loot room with the TC and all of my high-qual and gunpowder. (In retrospect perhaps I should have put the TC chute on the side somewhere...) My sleeping bags were all destroyed but one in one of the auxiliary rooms where I had no access to gear or the stability seal. Incapable of mounting any further resistance I listened helplessly as they fired a seemingly endless supply of explosive rounds at my layers of garage doors, working their way directly to TC. All hope lost, I listened to them breaking the boxes in the front of the primary loot room and tearing through the final two garage doors. Then suddenly I hear BLAM BLAM...... silence...... And I remembered Evil Wurst's words from 3:17 on this video: "Since there were no traps behind the first door, raiders might feel safe at this point to enter the chute with all their team members and all their explosives." An ember of hope flickers back to life as I cautiously emerge from the auxiliary room to the pitch black silence of the second floor core and the reverberating echos of water dripping from the ceiling of the cave. Peering down into the TC chute I see the remains of two raiders, lured into a false sense of security by the lack of traps behind the first garage door. If there were any other participants in the raid they must have been back at base crafting more explosives or transporting loot back to the base. Quickly I grabbed some HQM and jumped into the stability-seal auxiliary room and replaced the roof-seal that blocked the entrance to the airlock. A couple minutes later I hear footsteps in the airlock. "That's cheap. You got lucky." Evidently they were finally out of sulfur. I estimate they spent at least 75,000 sulfur to get as far as they did. And they're right. I did get lucky. Lucky that a Rust base building video appeared in my youtube recommended videos one day. Lucky that I found the channels of builders like Evil Wurst.

Two corrections: (1) the raid calculations assume that walls behind the chutes are solid, not with windows as shown in the build. With windows, there is some nasty splash damage possible that can lower the raid cost (2) when I calculated the raid cost to TC, I still had 3 garage doors in the center triangle. Last minute, I changed the design to Old Fool's triangle with furnaces, which makes the base less prone to splash damage, but also lowers the raid-to-TC to 22 rockets
@Nor1MAL
@Nor1MAL 5 жыл бұрын
Why don't people use low walls for splash protection? It's much cheaper than half walls, since they cost and has the same upkeep as full walls, but low walls has 1/3 of full walls; right? Or is there a downside I haven't learned or thought of yet? In the case of this build, with the triangle above with furnaces in them, low walls would serve the same purpose right?
@EvilWurst
@EvilWurst 5 жыл бұрын
@@Nor1MAL I made some tests once where I shot on top of low walls, and the floor tiles below still got damaged, this is why I now use half walls.
@brianross9926

Wurst, why the three furnaces in the middle triangle opposed to just capping that half wall with a sheet metal or armored floor? Furnaces have much less durability and I would think would provide less durability than the floor? I am guessing it is because of splash somehow? Do rockets on a half floor hit two floors or something? Man, thanks for the awesome builds and the very clear and thorough way you explain them. I just built the skeleton of this base on the first day of my solo server. Now to build loot rooms, upgrade and add garage doors!

Door switches are by far my favorite item in the game. I play on a x2 server and use some of Wursts ideas, but I add a extra layer of honeycombing around the outside and put doors on all of them, and when I throw one of my door switches all the doors open up and shotgun traps tear anyone near the base apart as well was my turrets in the cardinal directions. Hello Evil, Just wanted to let you know I used this design for the first time yesterday on a rusticated 3x (everyone usually gets raided). This base took super long to build, whereas every aspect of this was foreign to me, you just build completely different than I usually do, however I appreciate your expertise it has made me a much better builder from this design. I am here to let you know the minute the base was done and the last code lock was on, it was put to the test. Literally I locked the last code and heard a rocket go off outside. I laughed and told the boys lets hold it down as I heard it was easy to defend. We easilly defneded a 3 man rocket raid using SARs and Hazzys (They were full metal ak). They got into one loot room, died from the shotgun traps, we killed another, and the 3rd took off with his tail between his legs. They said they would be back, but I woke this morning to a base without a scratch! We do not deserve you, and your German building techniques, however we are thankful! TY for keeping my crew safe! Amazinggggggggg tutorial my friend!

TL;DR: base works like a charm but 2 loot rooms got brute-forced. Got raided 2 days ago with this. Base was full strength with all garage doors closed and everything fully upgraded. They went straight through front window and through the wall and into TC shoot. Raid path: reinforced glass, Sheet metal door, metal wall (of loot room and splashed the 2 adjacent, garage door, sheet metal wall (back of TC shoot so were behind the shotgun traps ) garage door, reinforced glass (of TC) and the other 2 garage doors. Was very surprised at how they managed this and is well over 35 rockets by my rough calculations.

You've always been one of the best if not THE best rust KZfaqr at structuring and narrating your videos - and this video may be your best ever. As for the base design, I was struggling to like your new chutes. After some thinking about the unlootable lootroom nerf they're probably better. More aggravating, less frustrating. Perfect naming :) Cheapest way in seems to be through the top window (4 rockets or 200 explosive rounds). One (+3 rockets or +150 explosive rounds) or 2 (+3 rockets) more garage doors and you're in the living area and can work on getting down into loot and TC. Looks like a weak spot - but 3 HQ floors (+15 rockets each) are a lot. Just remember to spread your valuable loot and build a new base once you store more than 25 rockets or the equivalent in it. I don't think this base can be a masterpiece, but it's a very decent update to a masterpiece - which makes it better than the original :D So yeah - very well done.

@@EvilWurst one thing we have done,is place an open faced triangle facing each loot drop down so anyone trying to get to the drop down gets a shotgun trap in the spine,its personal preference, we see an empty space where a trap could go, we're happy enough with it being slightly more cramped if it means raiders have an even harder time.The more hopping up and ducking down they have to do, which pushes them into trap situations,the happier we are.

Just coming to the end of another monthly wipe in this amazing base. I continue to use this base every wipe for its strength, space-efficiency, and low profile. I often go the entire month on active servers without getting raided a single time, even as all of my neighbors get raided off of the server, changing the landscape of bases around me every week or so, but my Aggravator remains an unchanging landmark. In my opinion, the best feature of this base is its small size and low profile. By slapping on a wooden airlock and a half-finished wooden (or even twig) shooting floor, and just never finishing it, it is possible to make this base look like a truly horrendous piece of garbage, and thus a very unappealing raid target. Too big for small-time raiders, but too crappy-looking for more serious raiders, it is the ultimate raid repellent. Despite the low profile, it boasts far more storage than many much larger bases, especially since I use one of the auxiliary rooms as an overflow and low-value loot room. Here's my advice on how to make the Aggravator even better at what it does best and adapt it into the ultimate raid repellent: 1: Remove the entire square airlock with the drop chest room on top. While it provides excellent visibility when exiting the base, it dramatically increases the horizontal profile and apparent size of the base when looking at it from the side, in addition to making the base look more professional, making the base significantly more likely to be chosen as a raid target. I recommend removing it entirely. Instead I use a traditional triangle single-door airlock made of wood. To make up for the loss of the drop chest room, I highly recommend placing a garage door instead of the stone wall on the right, and using a half-height floor tile as a shelf to place two more large boxes behind the airlock, one on top, and one on bottom. They will stick through the garage door so you can access them without opening and closing the garage door, which is only one less rocket to raid than the stone wall, but now you've made the base look far smaller, utilized space more efficiently, and still managed to keep a few large box drop chests. Place windows on the floor above to partially-compensate for the loss of visibility from the square airlock. 2: Upgrade the wall behind the entrance airlock (the wall protecting the drop-chute loot room) to HQM, and place wooden window shutters on the above windows so looky-loos can't look in and see the HQM wall. Of the few times I have been successfully raided, it is common for raiders to start by door raiding, but when they see the doors leading up to the second floor they begin to suspect drop-chute loot rooms and they think "fuq that" and just drill through the walls on the first floor. Discourage this by upgrading that wall guarding that loot room to high qual, and leaving the first double door leading into the second floor of the base as sheet metal. Encourage them to keep going a bit farther with door raiding because once they've spent enough sulfur on it, the sunk-cost fallacy will make them unlikely to reconsider their strategy of door-raiding. 3: If you use electricity to open the turret pods with a switch (use solar panels instead of a wind turbine to reduce raid bait), consider using the floor tiles above the drop-chutes for more drop chests/overflow loot chests. This further compensates for the loss of the drop-chest room, while sacrificing nothing but the ability to open and close the doors manually from within the base, which is unnecessary anyway if you rig them up with electricity. While you're at it, don't put windows there either. Just service the turrets from the outside. While I doubt I'll ever see a raider take advantage of it, those windows are an Achilles heel for the Aggravator. 7 rockets gets you through the garage doors on the turret pod and then the window, and then more rockets fired at the underside of the floor tile behind the window will simultaneously splash the garage doors in the loot chute as well as the door leading into the 2nd floor living area, and as if that weren't bad enough it gives a perfect angle for taking out the traps down in the loot room before going in to clear it out. If I ever raid an Aggravator out in the wild, that's how I'd do it. 4: Less important but use one auxiliary room as utility, and the other as overflow and low-value loot storage instead of a bedroom. The Aggravator is clearly not designed for online raid defense from within the base itself (unless you add a shooting floor, which defeats the low-profile strategy), so using sleeping bags on the second floor instead of beds really isn't a big deal. Instead build one or two small and cheap flanking bases, and put your beds in those. Far more effective for base defense, while simultaneously keeping your upkeep down and your profile low (people often assume the flanking bases are simply neighbors). 5: Put a bunch of twig and wood on the exterior of the base. I often start making a twig shooting floor and then never finish it. When people build twig outside your windows to look in, leave the twig there. Sometimes I add a couple of foundations and open walls to the side like I was expanding the base but never finished. Make the base look like a horrendous piece of shit. Like you're inactive and you have no idea what you're doing. People walk by my base all the time and say things like "this base is such a piece of shit. what even is this?", and I just smile, knowing I can shred them with my defense turrets with the press of a button, and that my loot is safe. 6: Keep the base small. Do not add anything that would advertise your wealth. For example, do not add a shooting floor, instead make flanking bases. Do not add a heli hangar on top, just build a separate building for that (I like to hoard minicopters so I prefer a hangar that can accommodate at least four minicopters). Do not add a wind turbine, instead use solar panels. Do not add a SAM site unless you want to get raided 15 minutes after adding it. DO NOT MAKE A COMPOUND (just make a separate large furnace base for smelting). You're invisible to big clans if you don't have a compound. Just don't do it. The turret pods give you all of the door-camper protection that you need, and without the compound you can bait people up to your base and kill them, which is much more fun anyway. 7: Be judicious with your use of the turret pods. They're highly effective but they scream "raid this base." If you kill a group of full-metal AK roamers with your turret pods, move your loot cause you're probably about to get raided. 8: Even with these strategies, ALWAYS use external TCs and flanking bases. ALWAYS assume that tonight is the night your base will get raided, and be sneaky with your loot. It's good to be strong, it's better to be sneaky, but it's best to be strong AND sneaky. Imagine raiding all the way into the back boxes of the loot chute in an Aggravator just to find a note: "Sorry bud I smelled this raid coming. Maybe I put my loot in one of these other buildings nearby. Maybe I put it all in the furnace base... or the heli hangar... keep raiding and maybe you'll find my loot!"
@Raiden1

Amazing comment. Really learnt a lot from it. I really resonate with the sneaky bit because I keep moving high value loot to dumb locations like the heli garage, and my teammates start getting paranoid, not trusting me when I tell them that its less likely to be found there xD. By the way, is this base still viable in 2020 with the box and door placements? Because sometimes when I try to build older designs I end up having to change up the loot rooms due to the old update that made it so you can't place things in between doors, etc.
@benjaminmason9424
@benjaminmason9424 4 жыл бұрын
@@Raiden1 Thanks! Yes the Aggravator is still viable in 2020; loot room rennovation is just more of a pain in the ass due to the door placement update. When you start placing garage doors you have to move all of your loot out of the boxes, pick up all the boxes, place the garage doors, and then put all of the boxes back. Tedious but I play on a monthly server so I only have to do it once a month. I've recently started adding an autonomous defense system to the Aggravator. Since the honeycomb of the base is open and accessible from the second-floor interior of the base, I started placing HBHF sensors in the honeycomb and in the roof access and front door airlock, hooking them all to broadcasters that activate a suite of six inward-facing turret pods positioned on top of my external TCs, as well as the 3 turret pods on the base. Last month I watched my autonomous defense grid eat 3 different groups of raiders for breakfast while I watched silently from my flanking base without bothering to fire a single shot. One group managed to bait me into opening the 3 main turret pods so they could fire incendiary rockets in to destroy my primary defense turrets, at which point they all jumped up on the roof and breached my roof access with explosive ammo. It was night time and I watched my defense grid automatically activate in response to the breach and my inward-facing raid defense pods and my python autoturrets painted the night sky orange with bullet-tracers and the shadowy figures of panicked raiders were shredded and dropped. I leisurely retrieved an inventory of rockets and explo ammo. The funny part is that even if they had successfully raided the base they still wouldn't have found my valuables.
@Raiden1
@Raiden1 4 жыл бұрын
@@benjaminmason9424 that's ridiculous! I can't imagine how great that must have felt. Did you use wind turbines to power all those turrets? And were the inward facing turrets on top of your extrenal TC's equipped with pythons?
@benjaminmason9424
@benjaminmason9424 4 жыл бұрын
@@Raiden1 Since I only need the inward-facing external TC turrets to activate for raid defense, I simply trickle-charge a large battery dedicated for powering all of them with spare power from my main grid. I sometimes make a little 2x1 electrical building to house this battery and circuitry for my defense grid so it doesn't take up space in main base. To get power to the turrets and the doors on the inward-facing turret pods I simply string it through memory cells (since memory cells do not consume any power you can simply string power from one to another using the "inverted output" on the top to infinitely extend the length of a power wire). If there are rocks and hilly terrain you can even run the power lines underground so the turret pods on the external TCs have no apparent source of power whatsoever. When the system is activated it simultaneously provides power to the door controllers and the autoturrets, so the autoturrets are only consuming power while they're being used. This power efficiency is only possible after the recent battery update and allows you to run huge power grids off of just a few solar panels if you're smart about how and when you use power. Right now I only have 6 solar panels but I have 3 large batteries fully charged and ready to power different systems as need arises. Also, right now you can easily glitch any battery to have "infinite power" and not lose any charge if you simply make the first thing it outputs into an "electrical branch." If a battery is hooked up to an electrical branch, then when the server restarts it will be glitched to have infinite power, so in theory you can have a single solar panel hooked up to a splitter, running to 3 large batteries, each of those hooked up to an electrical branch, and then as soon as the server resets in the morning you now have 300 volts of power from a single solar panel, and now you don't even have to be efficient with your power and raiders are going to wonder how the fuck you're powering 9 autoturrets, proximity detectors, intruder detectors, broadcasters, cameras, etc. I even have all of the inside doors in my aggravator hooked up to a single button that opens and closes all of them (as well as turning on lights) at once for the sake of convenience, which sounds like a security risk but I have it rigged with redundant failsafe mechanisms that close all doors and permanently deactivate power to the system if an intruder enters the base until I reset the system manually myself. I also have the system rigged to automatically close doors for me one hour after I open them, and while the doors are closed the system automatically opens and closes one of the doors in the roof access every 20 seconds to give the illusion that I'm always online to reduce the chances of an offline raid. The door button is a power-hungry system so I have it programmed to automatically divert power to the defense grid whenever it's not in use.

I tried to figure out a different route for the raid and the best I came up with was 24 rockets, then 15 more to get both other loot rooms. Though I doubt anyone would do it, if you went through the foundations, all the way to the room before the tc and then blew out the window on the tc from underneath the shelf it would be 4 for the stone foundation, 8 for one metal, 8 for another, and then 4 for the glass. From there you could splash the tc room and get into the other 2 loot rooms with 15 more, assuming you can line up those shots. Hate to make you redact your claims again, but I just figured you would like to know. As I said, it is incredibly unlikely someone would raid like that. But I do want to make sure you were aware and see if you agreed that I am right about that. I am pretty sure it works out, but maybe from just watching the video, I missed something. Either way, great stuff. Me and my friends usually default to my building because I am pretty knowledgable about costs and raid protection, but last wipe we used your Tough Small Group Base | Double-Stacked, Unlootable, Trapped Loot base and we found it good, but like you said with the changes to unlootable rooms we found it lacking for the cost. This might have to be our next try, if I don't whip something up in my own dastardly mind :).
@The_Grimsun
@The_Grimsun 5 жыл бұрын
Actually, I take that back, if you went through the stone foundation and then the metal foundation, then through the garage door, and through the window, it would be 23. But that is assuming the foundations aren't able to be flush with the ground, which I am not sure if that is how you built it. But a word to the wise for other people.
@EvilWurst
@EvilWurst 5 жыл бұрын
True, if you assume that you can raid exactly through those specific foundations, your calculations can work@@The_Grimsun. It's kind of true for any base: if the foundations are too high, you typically loose one wall of protection. I suggested that the cheapest full raid I found would be *ca* 40 rockets. The strategy you describe (15+23) make it 38.
@The_Grimsun
@The_Grimsun 5 жыл бұрын
@@EvilWurst Yeah, like I said I think your calculations are right, but if someone messed up the build that 23 and 38 would be the cheapest possible raid. @The_Grimsun 5 жыл бұрын
@@EvilWurst O yeah for sure. I meant no disrespect by my statement. I was empathizing with the fact that no matter how hard you try to find the cheapest raid scenario you are bound to miss one or two. I really love your work and to be honest you try a lot harder than other base builders to give the accurate data about the builds. Ser Winter recently put out this base build that I see everyone using and I think it is like the biggest joke ever. But never have I thought your bases lacked in that way. Not to take away from my positive outpour, but it is worth mentioning too, that with that Fool's triangle you can also raid all the loot with 37 rockets by splashing the inner triangle after the TC is gone. And as I said my comments are just to help collaboratively make things better. Truth is that anyone who raids this base will find it a SOB to get into. But just for the theoretical situation where someone has 40 rockets they are looking to burn into a base and they also are ESP gods, it is fun to speculate.

EW, something for your viewers to note: with the patch making door placement tricky, you have to make a few adjustments when you build this now. First off, you have to place the half-high wall to place a floor tile, first. Then, you'll place the frame and first garage door. Then you'll place the next floor and door. THEN you can place down the deployables. Frustrating, but at least I found a way to make it work.

What's up, Evil! I guess I have came across with one of your creations - or something inspired by - so I was wondering if you could check it out to confirm whether it's something you have made or not. It seems like a "lazy version" of the Aggravator - see those three triangles on the sides supposedly serving as an utility room or just a little honeycomb to avoid raiders trying to make their way in through the side walls. Not to mention I have a feeling their loot rooms are full of shotgun traps just like on the video. Well, I'm planning to raid this in a not-so-far future, I just need to gather more resources and hope they won't upgrade those sheet metal to armored - as if they haven't done it already on inside. So I will can confirm if they used the shotgun trap trick in the loot rooms. No plans on how I'm gonna invade it yet, tho. but I'm working on it. So, what do you think? i.imgur.com/CANYy2G.jpg

Amazing base as always. Would be great to watch a series using this base on a medium pop server as a duo or trio showing how you progress. I always find gears to be the hardest thing to find for these bases. The shotgun traps and garage doors eat up so many. I think including 1 more auto turret in the main compartment could be nice as well. Isn't it just 1 stone wall and 1 door into the main compartment? An auto turret would help. Question: is it easier to go up the chutes without the triangle there? I know it's not hard to go up the ladders even with the triangle there if you look up and to the right as you climb the ladder.
@EvilWurst
@EvilWurst 5 жыл бұрын
The triangle above the chutes makes it harder for raiders to get a good angle, and they take the risk of falling into the view of the shotgun traps by accident And yeah, put down an auto turret in the main compartment if you like. However, in my experiences, auto turrets are only effective if they are behind a drop down, or if you can control whether they fire or not (via garage doors). Everything else will just get drained

I build this every wipe and it is one of the easiest bases to defend against online raids. The only thing that won't work in current is obviously auto turrets, everything else in the video works as intended beside maybe the loot room design he uses in the drop box area.
