I love the lean coffee format. Best collaborative session I can imagine. There are some interesting challenges to facilitating Lean Coffees which are worth sharing 1) Being too polite. If you start late or continuously ask permission to move forward in the lean coffee the "mechanics" can take forever. I used to be part of a Lean Coffee group that took 20 minutes of facilitation time and only 10 minutes of actual talk time. 2) Carrying topics forward (prevalent with remote). It is really easy to "save" lean coffee cards for the "next time". This action makes it difficult for new comers and carry's over strong personalities 3) Lean Coffee is actually an interesting problem itself: Many people have declined lean coffee's because they don't drink coffee or beer! TBH, I have been surprised by the objection And unrelated: Mob programming is growing. Anthony Crain suggested a great way to do "stand-ups" now is to have the first few minutes be traditional and then have an hour or three as an open call mob so people can enter and leave the mob and leave the line open so everyone is collaborating.
