Take care of yourself and life will reward. My dad is in his 60s and still works his excavating job shoveling with my brother and I, hammering cement, and picking up logs and brick. Usually he’s in the excavator but when he hops down to help with the hand work you’d think him more fit than most 20-30 yr olds. It’s a shame people think after 30 or so they just become unable to do physical activity and can’t stay fit for much longer. Truth is, human bodies are very adaptable even in older age.

My dad always said "my body is getting old, but in my mind, I'm still 25." He passed January 30, 2020. He developed Lewy Body dementia and it ravaged him quickly. He was very intelligent, so we noticed things quickly were going wrong. He hated what was happening to him. He was the smartest and strongest man I have ever known, and that disease stole who he was from him. When he passed, he had aged 30 years. He deserved to grow to be an old man. He loved life, and his passing left an enormous hole in our family that has still not been filled. I miss him so much.

@crustydownunder I understand that. My mom was a terror. She died when I was 21 and I still grieved her terribly. My dad was by no means fit towards the end of his life, his health failed over his last decade of life. It frustrated him greatly especially as it became harder for him to walk without pain. He passed so peacefully in his sleep. Just went to take a nap one day and didn't wake up. May we all be so blessed to go that way. 🙏

Around 2012 or so, my great-grandfather was in the hospital for something that I don't quite remember. I think pneumonia, but not sure, I was like 10 at the time. What I do remember though, is that he was put with the elderly people, and his reaction to that was "look where they put me, between all the old people". He was most likely the oldest in the entire hospital wing lol, at a nice 97 years of age! He definitely felt younger than he was. I am working at a retirementhome as a nurse on a station with people who all have dementia and it seems like this is what they go through all the time... some of them being in their 90's saying "tomorrow i will visit my parents" and everytime i hear that i can't let them face reality and lie because it would be horrible to say "they are dead and you are 94 years old" or even ask them how old they think they are... sometimes one of them who can not stand up anymore says they want to go home just for me to reply with something like "i am sorry you are at the hospital and you can not stand up at the moment. We need to take care of you the next days" or something like that. Sometimes a nurse has to be very very creative the way they talk with elderly people and even more with from dementia suffering people. It can be hard to keep an illusion alive just so people do not have a worse time.

Should win an Oscar for best short film. Technically it qualifies as it’s over 1minute.

Time goes by a lot faster than we think. I lost 3 grandparents in a year, and each funeral was the last time I saw the next one. Time is precious, enjoy every moment you can get

@nowonmetube Well, you have your mother's parents and your father's parents, then if they every had to remarry, you have step grandparents.

Lost my mom last year at 85. Just today I looked in the mirror and was reminded I'm not 20 years old any more. So this just hit pretty damn deep on me. I'm not crying, you're crying.

Damn, you lucky though. You can have mom until she at 85. I was 19 when i lost my mom, she was at 55. edit: She got cancer at 50 and i was 14. I wish someone told me that someone who got cancer don't live longer than 5 years. I was concern about this while she got only one year left at my 18. I know there's nothing i can do. In her last 3 months, she spend day by day really suffer from bladder cancer. I accompany him in hospital everyday until that day come, when she never reply to my voice again..

Жизнь странная штука, я вообще не ощущаю себя взрослым. В детстве казалось быть взрослым это круто, а теперь понимаешь, что это скукота и каждый день - день сурка

@@eksboks148 That was so rude. There's no one-upping here. This isn't a situation where we're discussing who made the most of a summer vacation. The guy is just trying to help OP appreciate the time he spent with his mother. Grief is proportional to the memories you create with that person, not necessarily the time you spent or when they departed. All he did was call him lucky and shared his own experience, and now you're trying to make him feel bad for nothing :(

"This could be my last birthday" got me in tears😢 my grandfather asked me, earlier this year, when I will come home to visit him, he told me that who knows how long he's going to be... he was almost 88 yo and I haven't seen him in the last 3 years and now I won't have the chance to see him anymore... 😢

RIP Dad. My best friend and confidant. Oh how you are missed and loved. If only I could have you back even for just a short time. I would love to show you smart phones and self driving cars. I remember rolling my eyes when you told me these things should be invented. Thank you to the producer of this video. We Americans should be ashamed at how horribly we treat our grandparents/elders. 😢❤
