Ahh the grandmother of the New Wave. What. A. Legend. She's so little known to english speakers but she's utter film royalty in French film history. The partnership looks beautiful!

Varda? I wonder if she has Armenian roots, as it isn't uncommon for Armenians to shorten their last names when immigrating. Through her father's side her last name might have been Vardanyan at some point. It's likely that her father or grandfather immigrated from Asia Minor during The Genocide. I wonder if she even knows.
