And I just now realized that this is an admission that she from the outside... I thought this joke meant that she left the house giving the excuse that she's not in town, but instead is visiting Wanda, but this was said in the past tense, not the past perfect. So she was out of town, now she's not. Unlike the other westview residents were in town and can't leave
