The song is about yoongi's real friend from his hometown that lost through addiction. He was a drug addict and ended up in jail (in Korea it's penalized harsly using drugs), when he got out he started using again and Yoongi was so disappointed in him for the way he wasted his life

In the beginning he was asking army to lend him their voices because he wasnt sure if he'd be able to sing the song on his own since he was crying in the sing before

It’s so raw! From what I understand (you can find the news / meaning behind this song) it’s a heartbreaking story and you can feel that regret and heartbreak when you wish you could have just held that person back. From dream and the perspective of having extreme struggles saying ‘everything will be okay’ and wanting to help others to cope with the struggles, to singing dear friend (loss) , then to amygdala It was very obvious how the three songs fit together and why Yoongi’s emotions overflowed. The fact he doesn’t hold back and he shows his emotions is a huge strength in my opinion and yes I was crying with him. He is very straightforward with his lyrics in you can feel and understand exactly what message he’s conveying.

I used to be very emotional and compationate but while working as a psychatric resident in Korea, struggling with so many suicidal and depressive patients, I suppressed my emotions because I had to live on. A friend of mine is currently struggling a lot with her mental health. I love her so much and she lives only around the block but I haven’t managed to see her in 5 months in that time she has missed prom with me and for the first time missed my dance recital. I have walked to her house and knocked but she doesn’t answer even though over text she said that I could come over. I’m not even angry I just miss her I’m just scared.

I’ll just say it since I’m old. I’m relieved to hear generations younger than me not saying don’t cry as often instead saying cry it out. To cry out your pain is a gift of release. Generations of stoicism dimmed our collective caring and filled spaces with broken people. It was an emotional night. Suga was ending not only his tour but also the AgustD era. The story in his albums progressed from very angry to pain to acceptance to mending. He relieved all those emotions that night. Is he healed? That will take while but he is in the right mental health to make it happen and his inner strength and braveness will take him pass the door and into a journey or utter peace. This song is about a friend during trainee days who ended up in detention center. Yoongi tried his best to be there for that friend. I cried that night.

With the type of person Yoongs is, that may have been building up for a while. For people that find it hard to express emotions, especially ones that hurt, it normally gets bottled until the cap pops off and everything fizzes out at once. I really hope he felt a little better after it, but the fact that he trusted us enough to let go like that is really special. 💜

The last time I cried over losing a friendship was 10th grade. I moved to another town when my mom started working at the casino so from 6th grade til 10th I was friends with these 2 girls I met when I first moved there. It was always the 3 of us but only at school cause I wasn't allowed to go to their house because I was black. So we just talked at school and on the phone I could call cause their parents thought I was white. 😒 But fast forward to this break down it was literally over one of the girls being jealous and crying to her only for them to both start ignoring me to my face and when I'd try to call. It was bad cause one of the times I did call one of the girls older sister called me the N word when she picked up. During that time it was lonely AF like what do you do when the people you trusted most the ones you talked to every single day for 4 years just stops talking to you. Those friendships never got put back together there was no going back to how it was. I didn't have many girl friends after that I started keeping my guard up and just dealing with people from a distance. I'm still line that now but I'm happy on my own I have one best friend we don't talk much because she's a mom of 5 so we chat from time to time but she's my only trusted and true friend.
