That is some rich Minnesota Vikings History right there. The younger generations barely know of Metropolitan stadium. I heard stories of my grandpa and my dad having season tickets in the 60s and 70s before the Metrodome was built. Very cold games!!!

A lot of Vikings shows mention it (PurpleDaily, Kfan) that’s how I learned more about that stadium. I still think we should’ve gone with an outdoor stadium but the bank is incredible

Looks like the Met had a lot of history: The Minneapolis Millers minor league baseball team was the original tenant from 1956 to 1960, but Metropolitan Stadium was best known as the home of the American League's Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL); both played at the "Met" for 21 seasons, from 1961 through 1981. The Minnesota Kicks of the North American Soccer League (NASL) also played there from 1976 to 1981.

That's one of those plays that instantly burrowed itself deep into my long-term memory. And it's what flashed through my mind in the 2017 season Divisional playoffs when Case Keenum connected with Stephon Diggs for the Minneapolis Miracle walkoff TD. We don't have a superb bowl victory YET, but we have a plethora of great teams, great seasons, great players and great plays. NFL Football is a phenomenal spectator sport, the favorite of tens of millions of Americans.

Total sidebar. My grandparents spent nearly every Friday in the 80s dancing at the Thunderbird. One night, there was a country act there. My grandparents were not big country fans, but they liked this guy. He even sat with them and asked them about being blind and how they learned to dance (They were blind from young ages). He told them his first album was coming out soon, and he was really excited. His name was Garth Brooks.

I remember that day on 12/14/1980, NBC's Bryant Gumbel notified the viewers on live air, "The Minnesota Vikings win the NFC Central Division title." The final score was 28-23, when Tommy Kramer found Ahmad Rashad from 46-yards out. Ahmad Rashad had two TD's in that game. At halftime from the second game of a televised double header, NBC NFL 🏈 Live 80, Bryant Gumbel, played the clip for the viewers as Charlie Jones and Len Dawson were elated on the miraculous finish.

The dig at the Patriots had me laughing way too hard. I was not expecting such a great line! I grew up in the 80s in Minnesota and although never made it to the Met for football I did get to see a few North Star games next door at the met center. After the MOA was built it was always super cool to be able to stand at home plate and look over camp snoopy (that's how I will always remember it at least) and imagine the field.
