As a Vikings fan.. it’s so difficult to listen to PA. He’s such a homer that he exaggerates things. Like… a okay will happen and PA screams “Cold blooded connection to JJ!!!! 8 yards on first down!” Then he’ll say “2nd and 5” and you’re like huh?

Pfft if they can't win it for Bud Grant and all those 70s Vikings, you can't find enough to win it for Paul Allen. Vikings are cursed. I come to accept that long ago. Bad seasons followed by heartbreaking seasons and the pattern continues. We aren't negative just realistic. The only thing the Vikings fans have is hope and that always ends in a loss.
@squidparty2000
@squidparty2000 7 ай бұрын
@@puppethound Yeah, you guys have had many great teams that could just never get it done. The 70's Bud Grant teams, the explosive offenses in the Randy Moss era with Cunningham and Culpepper, that one year with Brett Favre where you were so close to the super bowl (sorry the Bears beat you to give the Saints the number 1 seed lol), then there were the recent Vikings who would spring up one year with great defensive units only to fall completely flat the next year after disappointing in the playoffs. 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022 all great teams but there's always a better one apparently.

Even as a Packers fan I cant help but admire Allen. You cant bottle that enthusiasm and if you could it'd be worth millions. He is sour when the fan base is sour and he is insufferable when the fans are insufferable. He and his voice embody the Vikings fans and the highs and lows of the organization. Respect.

@@Zachygee412 I mean if you look at a game like the 2009 NFC Champ game, he makes complete sense of a play in which it was unrightfully lost. He is passionate about his team much like any sports fan, and speaks the emotions in a way that a fan would, which I feel is what a lot of radio hosts tend to miss. Professionalism is great to see sometimes, but it almost is more authentic to know what they feel as much as what you feel.

I have really liked Paul ever since I learned he grew up in Oxon Hill. I grew up in Old Town, right across the river. That river. We're probably both Jurgenson fans. Southern Marylanders, like Paul, always loved life, and in Paul it shows. It's his enthusiasm. It's not fake. It's so obviously genuine and that's what makes it him really fun to tune in to on a Sunday.

As a Vikings fan, hearing his voice yell "Thouchdoooown!" With that sort of vibrato for the past two decades, is just how football should sound to me. As iconic as "Goooooaaaal!" in soccer. Plus getting to listen to his radio show and interviews, I've probably taken him for granted, but it's great to see he's getting national recognition. I know he got a lot of attention for his call of the Minneapolis Miracle, and deservedly so, I'm just glad more people are getting to enjoy his work.

The thing I love about Paul that I wish more announcers would do is he just keeps it real and says exactly how he feels. He has a true love of the game that is palpable when you listen to him. I remember last year when the Vikings were making the 33-0 comeback and we were making a push in the last seconds of OT to get in FG range and a Colts player was laying on Jefferson to try and run time out. After the flag was thrown Paul proceeded to scream "WELL DONE YOU CHEATERS. GO AHEAD AND KEEP CHEATING." I mean seriously, this sounds exactly like something you'd hear watching the game at your buddy's place. I laughed when I first heard that from him. Maybe a little much but that's passion and I love to hear it from such a legendary announcer.
