The Battle of Attock, also known as the Battle of Chuch or the Battle of Haidru took place on 13 July 1813 between the Sikh Empire and the Durrani Empire. The battle was the first significant Sikh victory over the Durranis during Afghan-Sikh Wars. The story also entails the start of Durrani empire, Ahmed Shah Abdali, Hari Singh Nalwa, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Kohinoor Diamond.

Near panipat where Marathas fought against Afghan durranis, u can find connection between Marathas and sikhs.a community with common roots of Marathas and Sikhs . They have surname RAO. These people are helped by Sikhs then. So they never went back to maratha land . They stayed here in haryana as sikhs

@@amanjha2144 lol Maratha empire?? Marathas and Sikhs were paid by Mughal governor of Punjab as mercenaries to help against afghans. During those battles Sikhs had the lions share of loot, Marathas were mad about and try to complain. Sikhs never trusted them ever nor they helped them in panipat as they were too cocky about their empire. After which they never recovered. During time of Maurya, the ruler in Punjab was porus. U ain’t no shit boy, nor hindu coward brothers. The only thing stopping is our own jatt brothers. If Jatts and jaat come together, ur india will start crossing Yamuna. We don’t worship idols. Sikhi is continuation true vedic dharam originated in Punjab. During vedic time people ate meat and killed cows for meat. Did not worship idols. No upper lower castes. Today’s Hindus are by product of simritis and shastras written and revived in 9 th century as Buddhism was predominant religion here. After this revival the india as u know became slave to foreigners. So will today’s india if u ask for hindu rashtra and u think others won’t ask for their separate nations??

Nikhil fantastic job, very well presented. It's sad these events that sowed the seeds for India as we know until 1947 (pre-partition) were not taught in central schools. No doubt taught in Punjab but should have been in national curriculum. I guess it's still not in national school curriculum so it makes your fantastic effort all the more important. 👍

Maharaja Ranjit Singh had ordered every Tehsildar to supply ample of Qaidas ( a small book for studies and learning) to every home , particularly women to read and learn luñde ( Gurmukhi) and urdu ( Shahmukhi). At that time, in Punjab and other parts of Khalsa Sarkar, literacy rate was much higher as compared to rest of British India. After Maharaja's demise British annexed the Khalsa Raj. First very ordered they issued was : - Deposit all the ammunition with British Govt. Rs. 2/- will be given for each postol or revolver. Rs. 6/- will be given for each Qaida ( book). In this way British ensured that No Indian may get education. Had Maharaja Ranjit Singh lived for some more years,situation in Punjab would have been different altogether as far as education is concerned.

There are some information which was not told by youtuber :Another brother Shah Shuja overpowered Mahmud, took his place, firmly installed himself and also acquired the Koh-I-Noor, but Shah Shuja’s success was short-lived as Mahmud dethroned him in 1809. Shah Shuja with his wife Wafa Begam and other members of the family left Kabul for Punjab. The Governor of Attock arrested Shah Shuja and sent him to his brother, Ata Muhammad Khan, governor of Kashmir who not only imprisoned Shah Shuj) in the fort of Koh-i-Maran, but also tortured him in an attempt to get the Koh-i-Noor. However Wafa Begam with other members of the family and much of the treasury, including the Koh-i-Noor managed to escape. Shah Zaman who had attacked Punjab four times joined her at Rawalpindi and they went to Lahore where Maharaja Ranjit Singh gave them asylum in 1812. So there they were, the Afghan royal family, the very people who had been invading and looting the Punjab and beyond for years, on Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s doorstep begging for his help. Rather than holding them as prisoners, trying to hold them for ransom or taking away the treasure they had escaped with, the Maharaja received them graciously, even granting them a pension. Wafa Begam was given Rs.4, 000 per month to meet the expenses of the whole family. In December, 1812, Wazir Fateh Khan of Afghanistan sought Ranjit Singh’s military help to oust Ata Khan from Kashmir and offered to share any booty. Wafa Begam feared that her husband would be murdered if he was rescued only to fall into Wazir’s Khan's hands who also hoped to find out where the Koh-i-Noor was hidden. Wafa Begam promised to give Ranjit Singh the Koh-I-Noor if he would rescue her husband from captivity and bring him safely to Lahore. Ranjit Singh sent a force of 12,000 chosen troops under Diwan Mohkam Chand to accompany the Wazir, instructing Mohkam Chand to secure the release of Shah Shuja and bring him safely to Lahore. The Sikh army reached the destination ahead of Fateh Khan, rescued Shah Shuja and escorted him to Lahore. Shah Shuja was given a royal reception at Lahore and delivered to his wife, Wafa Begam. She was asked to make good on her promise and hand over the Koh-i-Noor to Ranjit Singh. The Begam avoided parting with the diamond and said that it had been pawned to a moneylender at Kandahar. Shah Shuja also made excuses. Ranjit Singh understood her reluctance and offered to make a token payment of 3 lac rupees and a jagir of Rs. 50,000 to the family. Even this offer failed to bring the Begam around. Now Ranjit Singh got angry and placed a heavy guard on the Afghan family lest someone should escape with the diamond. After some days, Shah Shuja invited Ranjit Singh to his house and handed over the fabulous diamond to Ranjit Singh on 1st June, 1813. Shah Shuja was not reduced to penury by this loss. He continued receiving allowance from the Sikh kingdom and owned considerable wealth in gold and jewels. These facts are based on the autobiographical sketch written by Shah Shuja himself. Some historians, inimical to Ranjit Singh, have distorted this episode. If Ranjit Singh had wanted to rob the Begam, no one could have stopped him from doing so. He did not use any force and adopted an honorable course.

Just a question? We are educating our children about mughals and Britishers but why we can’t add the stories of these fighters in CBSE books. Battle of saragarhi, battle of atak, battle of chamkaur and so on never read about this in history books of school
