The problem i run up against im techno uptopian/distopian visions of AI is that no one talks of the amount of energy needed to supply these machines. Its a product of the capitalist system that views the use of energy outside of the product, when its an intergral part of its existance. Am I wrong, or are we not trying to conceptualize a world with less resource use? How does this square with the massive energy needed to power these machines?

Contrary to the popular belief, in my (Zero Work Theory) view, the progress in AI technology will make the human labour obsolete compelling ruling class to implement UBI when they can no more able to exploit the labour of the working class. The mass movement facilitated by the UBI will overhaul the capitalist, socialist or the communist system and establish an equitable and democratic human society.

Artisans such as weavers became redundant during the Industrial Revolution. Digital artists and designers may be next.

Ai can't do "art" It's like saying a monkey or an elephant is doing "art" when it scrawls something with a paint brush a human has given it It's something but it isn't "art" The fundamental of creative art (a very rare, almost impossible thing) is that a human has done it If Ai can take over the drudge work of corporate design that's all good Humans are not supposed to spend most of their lives working We're supposed to spend our lives socialising, doing fun activities and, if we're so inclined, being creative

IMO part of the change that will make us more free also is resisting those who mislead people about their rights, about the exploitation they feel and see, experience, and reject the pushback to change.
