It is wonderful to be able to watch such explanations coming from a person who certainly has a deep knowledge of the intricacies of the lines but also knows how to explain it in a simple way. I look forward to more videos like this in the future. Thank you mr. Redmond for this new channel.

Thank you Mr. Redmond, these videos, and the posts you make on Twitter, continue to teach me and engage my go learning in an incredibly consistent and enjoyable way. I love your commentary, your wit, and obviously your knowledge and ability to draw from modern AI and human games to teach us about why a play is made and how it directs the flow of stones in the game!

Excellent summary of the directions of play! Finally we have a lucid description of what the various choices mean and how to decide between them (for this double hane variation). Looking forward to the analysis of the other variations!!

I wonder if this channel could also focus in the future on the strategy behind some fuseki patterns chosen by pros nowadays. Unlike in chess, it is difficult to find good information on that subject in the game of Go.

Thank you for a very instructive video. I have a question regarding the first variation, when black forces with 7 on R18 then 9 on Q19. You mention that black can play S18 later on and "probably not immediately" (3:35). I wonder why black does not need to play S18 immediately, as it seems a good move for white. Thanks!

In the context of reinforcing the Black group and finding a move that works with a full board position, it will usually be better for Black to look for a big opening point on the right side.

Is connecting at O16 after white hane bad? To me it looks like black is getting shape with no cut points and takes sente, white is still low. I played it couple times in my lowly kyu games and I was happy with results. What am I missing?

You give good reasons and they match the qualities of that move, so that level of understanding makes it a good choice for you. That said I suggest you look at my video the direct 3-3 invasion keep it simple and look at the first suggested move a simple extension at p16 which I think is better
