@@mclovinjr9086 they literally cut off most of the Meereen, Dorne, Iron Islands and Vale plotlines. They had lots of material to work with. Tens of characters that have relevance in the books simply don't appear at all since seasons 3-4. That's why the show started to suck in season 5 and had some significant problems by season 6, and they just created the snowball effect that got us seasons 7-8, where D&D were basically trying to save a sinking ship. I guess they cut all those plotlines because they thought it would all be too big for them to end the show by season 8, and that really was what ruined everything. They should have listened to GRRM and aim for 10 seasons -- they could have added more material to each plotline so it wouldn't all look completely rushed and nonsensical by the end, as it happened.

He did a great and engaging job with a stereotypical villain role but he's a way more talented and nuanced actor than GOT allowed him to display (and his accent work was seriously messy!). It would be a real shame if that is his 'defining role' given his much more subtle work in indie films and Irish/UK tv. Hopefully, it will be the 'laddah' to more high profile work - if that's what he wants.

His defining role for many of us in the states is as Mayor Tommy Carcetti from The Wire. And his accent was really good on that show; I didn't know be wasn't American until after The Wire concluded. And although many people think for some reason that British and Irish actors can easily do "American" accents (there are a billion different kinds) that is not the case! I feel like most just default to some terrible stereotypical southern accent that sounds like no place in the south in particular and they think, "See, ahm uh Umerican!" His death is another on the list of the one true issue with the ending to Game of Thrones. They spent all this time introducing well written characters, then spent very little time closing them. Why that happened is up for debate, but I can say with confidence this is a big reason why George is taking so long with the books. Honestly, committing to only two books was probably the biggest mistake he has made. There is no way to introduce the myriad of important characters he has done in the book series and NOT have a few end like this, if you do not give yourself infinite time to do it. But that should not be wholly looked at as a bad thing. Interesting stories come to abrupt ends all the time in the real world. Just because it isn't satisfying doesn't mean its bad writing. The real reason he had to die was to signal the justice that was needed to close the Stark plots. The only regrettable thing is that it all happened so quickly. Whether he escaped and was chased down for another 5 episodes before he was eventually killed doesn't matter to me. It was always going to end that way.

I root for Littlefinger! He was definitely super fun to watch and he did a superb acting job. I feel like he deserved a better ending than he got but I could say that about a lot of Game of Thrones characters post the last season 😂

I think he did well to place a completely different character and stop being souly associated with little finger when he was in peaky blinders

Unpopular opinion: I miss him more as Abby Gold.

Now it's the time!! I am the only one starving for Littlefinger fate? I still strongly believe he was not dead in the series (but the changed plan to rush it and anyway they didn't knew how to write him anymore). There is the theory that he paid a faceless women to die instead of him (a blonde women we see in the episode prior to his death with who he exchange something (a silver coin?) and she said "your time is up". He knew he was cornered and he is smarter than that. He knew Sansa was not trusting him, he knew Bran could see, he knew Arya was a faceless women. That being said, what do you think would have happen with him next? If he was hidding somewhere it was for a purpose. We know he like to see people fall from the ladder and watch the chaos before moving his pawns. To me, Littlefinger is the counterpart to Varys. They symbolize revolution and tradition accordingly. I guess Littlefinger was going to come back and build an empire as the leader. Remember he said he didn't want to play with their rules. To me, this mean he would not play according to blood law and monarchy (it was this thing Catelyn use to hurt him when younger). I do believe he would have an empire build with Stannis (don't think he was dead in the serie either) as a genera and with the golden Company (They were not really under the command of Cersei, why would a bank risk that for someone who doesn't bring anymore interest. It was dumb of her to pay the debt because now they do not need her alive anymore)

Gillen isn't his real name? That's a lot of loyalty for a hired actor.
@markbrennan2122 жыл бұрын
Sure plenty of actors do that, it's not that rare.

@@ban4486 As he said it is his mother's name, and a minute of looking it up gave me the info that there was apparently an Aiden Murphy already registered in the Actor's Guild.

I like to think that Petyr would have laughed at how he finally got played by Sansa and would have accepted his death, because begging just doesn’t fit his character.

Brilliant casting for the role. Too bad Dumb & Dumber misunderstood the character (even according to GRRM himself), and then they just gave up on him in the later seasons.

He always reminded me of cameron from ferris bueler for some reason
