I love listening to you Salman sir. The tone, voice, mannerisms were so replete among two uncles of mine. We migrated from Davis Road, Nurshah Begum Road, McLeod Road in Lahore...my mother who passed last year used to tell me so many anecdotes...I encounter cockroaches (a little better behaved than the Pakistani ones), and relate to everything you said 100%.

I relate so much to your style. The frequent breaks into Punjabi the phrases etc. India and Pakistan, the Punjabis especially, are uncannily similar.Lots of love and best wishes.

Sahi gal aa, pehlay saday pindi/isb vich bike alay signal ni torday c hun ithy v ik adha bike alaa signal tor janda ae. Helmet ty aksar majburan paa lainday nai par side mirrors naal pata ni ki masla ae. Population increase ty internal migration nai cheezan change kar ditian nae.

I agree 100%. Ye qoum sudherney wali nahi hai. As one of my friends says "aqal vich sub to low-level ty chimpanzee ne ty us to baad assi". God bless my father, he never allowed me to ride a bike without side mirrors and a helmet.

I sometimes wonder what the matter is with the fathers who permit these cockroaches without RV mirrors and helmets. But then I see a 60 year-old cockroach with a flowing beard on a phitphitti without mirrors!

Sir, you have expressed my sentiments exactly. Ninety-nine percent of these Ching Chi rickshaws lack rear lights, licenses, and the basic courtesy to follow traffic lanes. They are so oblivious that they carry construction materials on the fast lanes without proper lighting. One day, while coming home late from the office, I nearly collided with one of these rickshaws carrying steel reinforcement. We have allowed them unrestricted movement in our residential colonies, and as a result, our peaceful colony roads have transformed into chaotic highways. Even on the main roads, where I reside, fruit-laden Ching Chi rickshaws occupy at least one lane at night. It wasn't like this before, and there are multiple reasons why our city has become so unsightly.

Why??God ?Why don’t they use rear view mirrors? and if they do it on purpose without a sensible ,coherent reason why doesn’t the police book them & close down their bikes. I say make the traffic police responsible for any such bike found on the road impose heavy penalties a thousand rupees for each rear view mirror & 5000Rs for a repeat offence Although anyone who entertains visions of police in tactical gear controlling the cluster fuck that passes for traffic in downtown Rawalpindi has another thing coming his way.

Our country is a dumping ground for all types of sub-standard goods. And a vast majority of people living in this part of the world are just ignorant or /and stupid. All traffic signs are ignored by educated and uneducated. I used to live in Lahore in the 1960s, and the bicycle was a very popular and respectable mode of transport, with 10 per cent female cyclist of Christian faith. In Europe, it's a very familiar sight where even 80 years old men and women use bicycles for short haul. I am not sure about our future and how we will progress, but one thing is sure, our past was just another country.

This is such an abomination...i don't know now but untill a few years back in eastern UP, bikers would bend the rear view mirrors so that they cant see. On asking they say - style, monkey breaks it, or it hinders in navigating through tight spots... All absolute bullcrap

Very well Salman Baba... lekin h6um cockroaches he rehna pasand kertay hain. We can't even stand a Traffic Signal for few seconds, yet we dream of becoming a progressive nation sadly. 80 durro ki jagah 160 bhi ho jaiayain ge tab bhi hamaray log nahi sudharain ge unless the upbringing starts from Ghar & School.

Dear sir, very well spoken. In my opinion, if these motorbikes and pillion riding is regulated somehow, 50% drop in crimes and 70-80% decrease in accidents would be surely observed.

My father was hit by a biker last week. The biker was coming from wrong side of road hit by biker and fractured his leg and ran away.

I am glad your father was not more seriously injured. My very dear friend Akhtar Hayat crossing the street in front of the Press Club was hit so badly, he lost his life. These cockroaches care nothing from human life.
