i've been searching for the right way to throw a dart, which obviously varies from one person to another, i tried your method and my first dart ends up in treble 20, because instead of it going across my face, the dart actually went to where i was looking, thanks a lot mate

Thanks for the straight forward, easy to understand and clearly shown explanation DD. I didn’t even realise I was throwing differently at different areas of the board but certainly have been over analysing my throw and getting worse as a result. Just spent a couple of hours not looking at my throwing hand and not catching my flights on my face and low and behold the darts are starting to go where I’m looking. Like dropping pebbles in a bucket and my follow through ha suddenly re appeared! You are my saviour DD

Thanks, Dave, for the video. I just bought a Winmau Blade 6 dartboard and been watching KZfaq videos on how to aim a dart. I just got done trying your technique and I'm very pleased with the results that I have obtained. I just started playing darts occasionally with some of the guys in the bar. They beat me just about every time. I'm a beginner trying to improve my game so I can compete against them. So far you're aiming technique has already improved my accuracy. Thanks a lot! I'm going to need a lot of practice. By the way I am 74 years old! Playing pool is my game but I'm getting sick and tired of these guys beating me all the time Each time I lose it cost me a round of shots. One day I'm going to surprise these guys!

This is awesome mate! I played for a few years at University and got to a reasonably high standard (was regularly throwing 501 legs from 12 to 22 dart legs), but based on your tips, I've gone back to basics and am trying to improve. I hope I can beat my best leg of 12 darts at some point and up my averages (not that averages are that important, more about beating the person than averages but meh)

I have improved my dart game thanks to Dynamite Dave. I would have to say even though I aim much better, every so often when I bring the dart back to throw, the flight of the dart just slightly brushes up against my face, and messes up that throw, if I actually let the dart go. It only happens maybe 1 out of 20 throws or so, but that tells me I am not consistent. DD is awesome.

Love your channel, great tips for most people. I hope opposite eye dominance to hand players don't think this is the way to go for them. I can tell from your hand set up you are left eye dominant which is why this works. Keep up the good work

Hi Tom Buddy Thanks for the comment i had an operation on my left eye when i was 7 years old for a deep squint and its only 45% efficient so i am not in any way left eye anything but weak. I Believe Eye Dominance is between a players ears unless they have a diagnosed eye condition the mythology and tall stories of darts will be around for a while yet but like my teaching of the DD finishes the simple common sense and logic of it will come in over time and the nonsense will fade. Something to think about when have you ever seen a right handed marksman lift the rifle up to his left eye you dont i am left handed and bring my left butted rifle to my left (Weak eye). Cheers D Dave...
@tomrendell7174
@tomrendell7174 2 жыл бұрын
Your throw will work for because you have 45% in your left eye. That's a pretty good weaker eye and this eye plays a massive part in your sighting at the dart target. My left eye is totally dominant over my right. I'm right handed so set in front of my right eye, my right doesn't notice a hand in front of it. My draw is straight back beneath my chin with a high elbow and a straight follow through. I have tried similar to your throw in the past I just find i follow through straighter if it's just to the side of vision.

that's the key to consistancy on the cover and lower numbers i teach adjusting the body position at the hips the throw remains the same and the arm speed to so the release the foot position upper arm the lot stays the same. 99.9% of players throw differently at each part of the board and more throws you have the more difficult it is to repeat. Go look at my basics videos they will get you on the right path buddy Cheers D Dave...

Only just subscribed Dave an loving the content . I'm 50 now and I struggled with severe severe dartitis from an early age .19 . I was one of best players in my area at the time I always thought part of my dartitis was caused by taking my dart past side of my face but when on form my grouping was excellent Just started from nowhere like it was overnight . Last 6 - 8 years I am dartitis free and had some success winning competitions etc . I totally had to restructure my throw throw but I'm still looking to improve after all these years . Definitely I throw with a more central throw as my flight will sometimes hit my cheek below my right eye and grouping not as great. Obviously shorter throw could be causing this , but I'm gonna try this slight adjustment tomorrow evening when out for a few pints and a practice with my mate . Had 3 x 180s last week but still felt like I played poor. Feels like trying to hard and constantly shuffling on oche..ilk let you know how I get on . Also I'm right handed but left eye dominant . Is the principle just the same as using both eyes

Back to DDs videos after last week . Total murder in a local competition , knew I was beat in semi finals before I even threw a dart . Throw is in tatters again , coming across with throw and throwing under eyeline and just seems effort to get darts high in 20 bed. Have now made contious effort to get practicing again . Using the DD stance and getting elbow higher and arm out more to side of face . Can say instant results feeling more comfortable , throw more fluent and less effort. Added training app on phone and currently av 64 . Regards eye dominance thing I think DD explained didn't make much difference as long as eyeline is clear and I think would just be another distraction . Certainly I'm feeling more comfortable and looking forward to my regular Thursday night throw with pals this week

Just started up Darts in the last few months..... been driving me crazy that I can't hit the 20 with any kind of accuracy - its falling low 80% of the time. I can hit, 16 or 6 or most other numbers - but the 20 is a nightmare!... this is all from under-the-eye method, but just one session of practice (while this vid is running) using the side of the head throw, and now 80% of the darts aimed at the 20 are hitting the correct height! .... that is so cool! - accuracy has not really suffered from this change (not that I was very accurate before) - but it means I hit the 20 a lot more since its wider at the top.... and its so much less effort - thanks!

Hi Alister keep at it change to the DD way and you will be hitting the 20 visit after visit after visit then 100 will become common then 140 and 180 will be in the bag. The reason i have so many followers is my way is simply common sense its not snake oil its true and it works fom everyone men women and children. Why well because its the right way to throw darts just think if there is a right way to throw a Shot put ,discus cricket ball, rugby ball, swing a golf club, a cricket bat, kick a football, bounce a basket ball Etc. Then there is a right way to throw a dart end of story and i spent two and a half years discovering and developing the DD way stick to it buddy it takes dedication and practice but i promins you this if you do it will make you an awesome dart player so let us all know how you go. I have just started this sport and I have been training on my own for about 4 months. I tried sets of different shapes and weights. I can say that I could not find a set or weight that suited me. Since I have no knowledge or experience, I only make decisions based on feeling. I asked questions to many people on KZfaq and received different answers from each person. The general opinion is to start with 21-22-23g and not have a barrel above 48mm and prefer a straight barrel. I try out the sets of the people playing around me. I don't think I'm making bad shots with 21g. Nice and solid shots are made with 26g. Frankly, I couldn't decide, I was very confused. Can I get your opinions on this matter?

Choosing darts is like fisher men choosing fly's they all look appealing and part you from your money. I truly believe they are just fulfilling a need not a necessity, the average dart player has 10 sets of darts and when his or her technique is poor and their game is weak they have something to blame instead of looking in the mirror they look at the equipment. The old saying is true a bad tradesman blames his tools. With a solid mechanical throw you can throw just about any dart that's not ridiculous and be just as good with three different darts as with three the same. Watch this video it will explain it and you can see the results. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mZyjeryTv8-0mmg.htmlsi=pPy19UdIZ0rzWqem

Hi, I'm still watching your darts basics. I am beginner .. very new.. Whenever you have time please answer this important question that is troubling me.. it's with aim..and deeper aspects within aim My question is: Some people see the 'V' of flight & hit the target area .. Some people see the point of dart & aim & release.. Some don't even see .. they just throw.. Looking at those professional players, I'm confused.. when I aim with dominant eye, what aspect should I see for my dart? I know, I look at desired target spot, say T20 bed.. & I need my dart to be aligned to that exact spot.. but .. what do I need to see.. the dart tip point or 'V' in flight? Thank you

As I say in the vids you can throw many different ways I don't advocate aiming as such, because you are physically throwing the object Eg. You don't aim a ball by bringing it to your eye or anything else I can think of. It may be the case you over thinking and over complicating just how simple it is to throw darts i could go on for hours on this subject but i think i explain it in this vid but here is another one if it helps kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mLKdjM1e2LKdeJc.html

@@gameofthrows9357 you’ve not even acknowledged my question I posed and instead chosen to go down the route of deflection in your response. If your dart career doesn’t work out you’ll make a decent politician mate! I agree with pretty much every thing Dave teaches, but side of the face throwing isn’t one of them. Do I think you can’t become a brilliant player using a side of the face throw? Absolutely not...Dave is a brilliant player after all. I believe that using your vision centre to your advantage will improve a player quicker. Since you want to throw your progression out there, here is mine - I’ve been playing since March 2020. Started in the 40’s and currently my average from Jan 2021-now is just under 89. I regularly throw under 15 darts, even sneaking a 9 darter in along the way. And because I’m a complete perfectionist is still find fault in my technique. My release can be a little dodgy at times, I can feel my self moving ever so slightly in my stance sometimes and worst of all I can completely fall to bits in a match...something I desperately would like to fix. I think Dave can help me with all of my problems hence why I would like to have some face to face lessons with him. O and of course my over 8.25 thousand subs + circa 50 to 80 thousand views a month we are all wrong and your right. Just look at the comments not yours though its in a bit of a minority to say the least. Im assuming you have not noticed that the old wild gyrating and sometimes comical ways of throwing are now disappearing for a more mechanical approach. All just a coincidence i suppose. Just 4 years ago no professional players were doing what is now commonly known as Dynamite Dave finishes. (I had coached a few top players in it but there was a big resistance to it). O and yes your right before you say it the PDC never mention me they know who i am all right but they hate me just like you buddy but guess what im not here for them or the likes of you, im here for the players who want to learn and improve. now hundreds of thousands from all around the world now throw in the DD Way. Now fast forward 5 years and my way of finishing is in almost every match on the TV platform Even Gerwyn Price went D16 miss hit single put another one next to it for D-top for 72 in the grand slam just watch the worlds starting next week it will all be there. I started teaching this about 8+ years ago and was told i was crazy turns out not so much...
