Back in the game, Momonga and Shalltear were often the first line of defense against small invasions of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Both of them know each other’s capabilities and weaknesses. There is a reason why Momonga was made guildmaster despite being more of a role player rather than a power gamer.

Hi, friend. Wow, there is so much to tell about this epic battle, which is only fully understood in light of the novels! But I think you've noticed how special it is. For years, anime have tried to represent combat that follows the logic of a video game, like Sword Art Online for example, but this is the first one I've seen that actually follows the reasoning of one. This entire battle was designed keeping in mind that Shalltearr had to be killed twice because her creator, Ainz's friend Peroronchino, had given her an Instant Resurrection Item, which luckily doesn't also restore mana. That is why we see her intact at the end of the chapter. From the beginning Ainz had many disadvantages. To begin with, his game character was not designed for PVP matches but mainly for his own entertainment and Roleplay. In League of Legends terms he would be a “Support” who can also play as a “Semi-Carry” so something similar to "Brand" i guess. Instead, Shalltear is a pure “Carry” designed for combat against many players. After all, She is the only one in charge of defending not 1 but 3 floors and the strongest of all the Guardians. Also, as a vampire, Shalltear is quite resistant to Ainz's necromancy, but she can also do holy magic that is quite effective against Undead. I clarify that in the Ygdrassil LORE that is based on Dungeons & Dragons there are good and bad gods. Shalltear gains her abilities as a priestess of a vampire god named Caniabel. Then there is the problem that Ainz is a summoner and his best combos are with creatures he can use as a shield. But since Shalltear has that life-sucking spear, he can't risk using them because it would be like feeding her. Also, Yggdrasil's gameplay mechanics were designed in such a way that a player could never fully protect themselves from all of its weaknesses. Ainz is weak against fire and holy element, but can only protect against one. As if that wasn't enough, Shalltear's creator gave her some "Skills" that precisely help her with her main weaknesses, such as the Negative Impact Shield or the Purifying Spear. These are not powers that she should naturaly have and they help her to overcome opponents who have some advantage over her. Fortunately, there is a limit to the number of these Skills that can be used per day. Much of Ainz's plan for this battle was designed to get Shalltear to spend them all before the end. Finally, Ainz felt guilty about the current situation, so he decided to punish himself by changing his divine equipment to a lower quality one, which further increased his disadvantage. So, yes, this battle was very difficult and it is a great triumph that it has reached this point. Of course, it's not that Ainz is weak either, it's just that his powers don't work well against Shalltiaer's. But still he is a pure mage who managed to win a lot of PVP at the time, although at first he always had to lose a few rounds until he learned the best method to win. Also, in Yggdrassil the limit of spells that could be learned was 300, but Ainz got a special class that allowed him to learn more than 700 spells. We saw a bit of this early on, in the buff number he put on before he started fighting. Shalltear's Einherjar is a construct-type avatar almost visually identical to Shalltear. This Avatar cannot use magic and some of the abilities of the original, but his equipment and stats are the same. Ainz's greatest achievement was executing his own trump card well. “The Goal of All Life is Death” is a Skill that he obtained by taking out all the trophies of his class, Liche Overlord, more precisely he unlocked the hidden class Eclipse (that only a few player have achived) that has a lvl cap of 5 level and by reaching the last one you recive the skill "The Goal of All Life is Death".. Any Undead like him have abilities that cause "Instant Death" on an enemy, but naturally there are many ways to defend against this magic, both with items and resistances. Someone like Shalltear naturally has immunity to these kinds of abilities, whether it be full or partial. But “The Goal of All Life is Death” allows you to overcome all those barriers, as long as the instant death effect occurs in exactly 12 seconds. Naturally this is a very difficult thing to achieve and any gamer will tell you that timing an attack within 12 seconds is nearly impossible in the middle of a match of, say, "Overwatch" or "Half Life", but Ainz is one of the 13% of players who have perfectly mastered the art of synchronizing spells. So, the magic used against Shalltear is called “Cry of the Banshee” which kills everything that touches the sound within a large area of land. But the effect is enhanced by the ability "The Goal of All Life is Death" and that is why, according to the novel, literally everything died: The creatures, the Einherjar clone, Shalltear, the earth, the plants and even the air... Everything died. And so in the end the battlefield turned into a desert. Well that's it. I'd tell you about Mare and Aura's World Items, but I might end up with a spoiler. I hope I have been helpful. Hope it wasn't missed but there was an after credits scene in this which gives some context for next episode. Heck I believe the credits run over it. Always *always* check for AC scenes no matter what you're watching, it's not common but they're always a fun add Loved the reaction, the only thing I'd say is that the reason he didn't let the Guardians fight Shalltear wasn't *just* cause he was being careful. He also felt personally responsible for what happened and (as someone else explains) is punishing himself, but he *also* views them all as children and his friends as their parents. He doesn't want to see his friends kids killing each other.

Everyone goes on about Ainz buffing so thoroughly but Shaltear is the only floor guardian responsible for more than 1 floor

demiurge said something that albedo will take to heart he said that as guardians they need to keep ains safe even if it means to go against his wishes ... this makes albedo create a team to kill players cos they represent a treat to ains even if the players are their creators

I mentioned previously of how spells (black hole) can have an interesting effect on environment. The AOE instadeath of everything was cool in this episode in how it practically created a desert...but black hole is still my favorite after effect on the environment so far.

What a lot dont realize is that Nazarick is a literal multi floor dungeon and our npc such as Shaltear are literal raid bosses in that dungeon.. they arnt supposed to be fought 1 on 1 in yggdrisle (butchered spelling on that game but yall know what im talking about) but fought 1 vs near 20 max lvls, just so happens ainz brought an arsenal of max lvl player items with him

This fight is the most poorly explained and depicted event in the anime. There are a lot of significant details that it does not add. Shaltear is basically a perfect counter to ainz. His build is a roleplay build that focuses on necromancy. His strengths are death magics and summoning undead. Shaltear on the other hand is a minmaxed holy fighter who is hyper specialized in one on ones. She is a hybrid fighter/caster with holy and divine magics giving her a great amount of flexibility. Then, she was given special limited use abilities to augment her weaknesses. To top all that off she has her sommon household to have free summons and then her "second version" (I don't know how to spell it) that second version of her is a construct that has her exact stats. It doesn't have any of her spells or special abilities but it's still a level 100 combat specialist that she controls. Her Divine weapon the pipette Lance gives her a rather substantial amount of healing whenever she does hit the enemy. And can attack herself with negative energy spells to heal herself that way. However this battle gets even more difficult for ainz. Because he decided to limit himself for this battle. And in major ways. She only had one divine weapon, her Lance. He has a full set of divine equipment.... That he decided not to use. That full set of divine gear could have greatly bridged the gap between them. Like shaltear he also had a ring of auto Resurrection. He took it off before the battle so if he lost and and in doing so was proven not worthy to lead them then albedo could take over who is more capable. He did all this as a punishment to himself for failing to foresee and prevent this event. The goal of all life is death augments instant death spells to bypass death immunity from most sources. Including undead, constructs, spirits, etc. However in this world it does more then that. "The world died" is a direct quote from the light novel. It made the air into death so if any living creature inhaled it they would die. It glasses the ground and turned it into sand. The trees wizard and reduced to Ash. From that point forward that area was completely uninhabitable to all life.

Basically what The Goal of All Life is Death does is; it cranks any instant death type attack up to the heavens, so much so that Ainz was able to instantly kill everthing around him such as grass and even the air itself, its cooldown is extremely long however

ye as you can see the top NPCs of Nazarick (namely Shalltear and Albedo) are insanely broken, he actually can't win in a straight 1v1, he started the fight with half HP advantage and like 20 buffs and it still is pretty close.

the reason shalltear didnt lose the mind control effect after ,,she died,, was because the resurction item tock the the effect so she didnt really died just die one use item

Bukubuku Chagama was a voice actress, most of the time doing like a young girls voice, to be able to work as a voice actress in Japan, you must be 18 or older, but for the games she gets hired well that little girl voice worked... You know... +18 games 😅 Oh yeah, Shaltear's mind was a total mess

If Ains ever finds out who did this to Shalltear they'll be lucky if he lets them die that quickly with just a hug.

Cocytus says that Ains' armor is for fire resistance but, from what I remember, it isn't. It has holy resistance. He's making it seem like he's in pain when he was taking the holy attacks and pretended that the fire magic spell didn't hurt, even though it did. He didn't want Shalltear to think that fire would work on him and make her limit her spell options and waste her mana.
