Thanks bro. I must replace this part once I can get to the nearest parts department. My trailer has two. I was in the middle of nowhere so I just heated mine with a torch for a short period of time, tapped it with a hammer, and problem solved. Thank you for saving my ass bro.

I love it when truck drivers try to fix their own equipment. Your end result is correct, but your method of arriving at it is wrong. The valve you changed is a "pressure protection valve". It typically won't open until the pressure in the tank is above 90psi. It closes below 90psi. IE: if you blow an airbag, you still have air to operate your trailer brakes. 1st step: make darn sure you have a GOOD amount of air coming out of your tank. 2nd step,: back off the brass fitting on the discharge side of your pressure protection valve. you only have to open it a turn or two. If you have air coming out, its not that valve. 3rd step: make sure you follow the line from your protection valve and see if it is kinked at all. Leveling valves typically fail LONG before a pressure protection valve. Think about how many potholes you drive over. That valve is continually opening and closing and adjusting ride height. If tapping on a valve makes you happy, and you've had success with it, by all means. Truck drivers almost never blow down their trailer tanks. A good operator will drain all tanks AT LEAST once a day, depending on your climate. There is a very good chance you had water/debris get sucked into your protection valve, and now the 1way check inside the valve is gummed up and seized. I would be ony doing inspections and brake jobs if drivers actually did their pretrips, and drained their tanks.

I had issue with my trailer no air going to trailer air tank locked brakes on dock after done loading. I replaced Spring brake valve, problem solve hope this helps who ever reads comments also behind cab @ tractor protection valve blue valve was exhausting air cuz of this issue
