The squadron that Halo Flight is from, as well as the Squadron Liberty 2-4 is part of would also be awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for the roles they played. And I'd imagine the VC-25 Ground Crews would also get awarded the PUC, since without their work, AF1 would've been long dead before they could get the POTUS and First Family off.

Even if the president got onboard like a United Airlines commercial flight, that aircraft would become Air Force One

Underrated moment in the movie.

Any Air Force aircraft. Any Marine aircraft is Marine One, Army aircraft would be Army one, Navy is Navy One, etc. Any civilian aircraft would assume the call sign Executive One.

I first want to say that AF1 is not the only movie (and including TV shows) that treats Amendment 25 Section 4 as a permanent removal. It's sad that such a fairly simple section is so misconstrued. (I recently watched most of Designated Survivor again, and they sadly treated that section like it'd immediately end his presidency, which annoyed me greatly). In this movie's case, she definitely should have signed it, and she could have decided whether to carry out any orders he may have been able to communicate to them. It wouldn't even affect the title of the movie... he'd still be President (he'd hold the office, she'd be acting as President and hold the executive powers), and thus it would not affect the plane's call sign, nor the changing of Liberty 24's call sign to AF1 when he got aboard. But what's sadder is a large number of actual Americans think it says the same thing (based on how everyone thinks it would have been some magic way to remove Trump, or to remove Biden).

An excessively loyal VP maybe. A good VP would have signed the order to invoke Amendment 25 Section 4 and assumed the powers of the presidency, instead of leaving them with someone under control/threat of terrorists. As soon as he was safely back he could have sent the letter to revoke it and regained his executive authority.

What does the current VP have to do with this movie? Our last VP was wondering whether he could execute the president's order to overturn the election. Thank goodness he didn't go along with that order.
