Thanks for the velocity adjuster tip. I just got an air javelin & haven’t done anything with it yet. An adjustable paintball HPA regulator should screw right into the bottle adapter & then you can run a line out to your tank. Don’t use them with CO2. If you are going to run CO2 find an expansion chamber. You’ll find a ton of paintball stuff will be compatible with this gun. From the looks of the internals this appears to be basically a modified pb marker type design.

Thanks for getting back to me on my question. I took my gun apart and a 9/64 or 4 mm seems to do the trick, but , as you said, it really feels sort of iffy to tell whether your in the hole or not. I found a couple of things that I'd like to know if you experienced with your gun. On my gun the plastic slide that engages the hammer spring would not slide in its grooves. The tendency was for the screw to try to eat its way through the wall that it was pressing up against rather than push the slide forward against the spring. Your first thought may be that I had the gun cocked before I started adjusting it, but no, that wasn't the case. When I took the stock halves apart I couldn't get the adjustment slide to slide in either half of the stock. It required a lot of filing and sanding with 600 grit paper, on the slots and those little tabs that stick out on the sides of the slide, to free things up so the adjustment would even work. Luckily I didn't do too much damage to the wall that I mentioned earlier before I felt something was wrong and stopped to take everything apart to see what was going on. After doing all that work and because the screw is sort of a pain the get a wrench into I decided to just go ahead and screw out the maximum adjustment and put the stock back together. To my disappointment the velocity DROPPED to 220 fps with the factory arrows and tips. I'm using the double 12 gram adapter but I have used that with all my testing, so I don't think that's the problem. I decided to redo everything and this time set the the screw flush ( don't know where it was from the factory because I screwed on it after I saw your video ) and the velocity increased. Next I turned the screw out about 2 threads and got my velocity up to 280 fps at 70 degrees F. Next I cranked it back to maximum ( by pushing on the slider with a really small Allen key you can tell that it is nearly all the way forward in its slot ) and at this point the velocity fell back to 220 fps. My next move will be to make small adjustments to gradually find the max speed I can get, but what I have experienced so far doesn't make any sense to me and you seem to be very analytical so I guess I was hoping you might be able to explain this. One other thing I should mention is that, before I did any of this stuff, I loosened the screws in the gun's body that were in the area where the hammer slides and I got an increase just as you cover in one of your other videos. I haven't sanded that area yet ( was going to be my next move before I ran into this craziness ) but do you think too much spring tension could be somehow cocking and binding the hammer. Didn't mean to write an essay here, I just haven't found a lot on the AJ and even less from people who I would take advice from. Thanks for any help you can offer.

You are definitely correct...It is the same as the hammer spring in a PCP air rifle which you can adjust the power. Guess it's there to possible adjust and lower the power setting for us here in the UK...
@kidpellet6544
@kidpellet6544 3 жыл бұрын
It could be, but money was backed all the way out. It has a sort of curious plenum space in the valve body that could easily have a plastic plug inserted to reduce plenum space and in turn reduce velocity. Then the spring could be adjusted to fine tune it. That's what they did to the T4E co2 shotgun I have, only without any spring adjustment Never thought of the UK market

@@kidpellet6544 Unfortunately here in the UK we always get the watered down versions of any PCP air rifles, break barrels, or air bows like the javelin or Benjamin air bow which have the power lowered compared to the us versions..

Thanks for the internal view 🔍 it really is a plastic fantastic toy :( obviously 🙄 that spring powers the cocked striker onto the valve body and is also critical to contact time vs sear weight of the second stage trigger. I’m guess if you put too much pressure on this spring the striker ends up only kissing the valve partly = less contact time and less CO2 gas is realised so you get less fps. It’s not really user adjustable bc it’s more a trigger safety feature.

Umarex likes to put air restrictor in their .68 shotgun and .50 handgun, you might be able to open the metal part that connects the CO2 to the barrel, and take out the restrictor to make it more powerful

Cool! I just back ordered this thing (the sales are on fire everybody loves it) and this is good to know. Umarex has for themselves some interesting weapons, I just ordered their .50 cal paintball/riot ball revolver that is marketed as both a paintball sidearm and non-lethal home defence/Police/Military training weapon (smart marketing there Umarex) and I ordered that fun looking cheap BB repeater the Steel Storm. Sometimes, Umarex makes some junky weapons, like anyone, but their more interesting and unique weapons are both powerful and lend themselves very well to modding too. People are modding Umarexes quite a bit. If you saw the things people are firing out of the double barreled paintball shotgun they sell and the revolver you'd be amazed. Slugs, spike balls, you name it. Lol.

Once I insert the c02 how long can I store the gun with it still inside?
@MrBilld75
@MrBilld75 3 жыл бұрын
@@RawDogTV For a while and it's a highly debatable subject as to how long. Air, can be in there indefinitely and it is good to store pump guns and PCP's etc. with some air in them (keeps the seals good), but CO2 is different. You can certainly go a few weeks or a month or even more, but they do slowly leak out over time. Some people who are against it, also claim it's acidic and over time can damage things, like seals. CO2 is carbonic acid, so I suppose there could be something to it. Probably not good to do really long term like many months. I haven't researched the subject in depth truth be told (so many other things to do, lol). There's a lot of myths and claims about airguns, some true, some not. GTA airgun forums (Gateway to airguns) is a great place to get legit info. People who have been airgunning for many years and know their stuff and one of them did a list of that, myths they believed about airguns (and some of those myths are on GTA forums to this day). So even there, you gotta watch what you believe. But I am sure if anyone knows the legit answers, it's them, they are smart folks and it's probably a question they have good answers to. Unlike some KZfaq videos. Much as I like Mike from Replica Airguns, he did a video on that and said "a week?" and was not too sure sound of himself, lol. Mine's already been in my pistol for two and I ain't worried, lol. I shoot it one shot a day to see and it still has plenty of power and that's just a little 12 grammer. So whatever it loses over time, is minimal (as long as your seals are good). For this gun however?! There's a neat device Umarex sells, that only works with one other gun and the AirJavelin called the CO2 Saver (costs $20) and it screws into the gun and the CO2 cart. screws into it. Making your 88 or 90 gram pricey CO2 cart. removable! Without losing all the CO2. A thing unique to their guns. They wanted people to have the ability to transfer carts. from one gun to another gun possible/convenient without losing all the CO2. Nice! It also serves a second function though as a CO2 storage device. So, if the claim about CO2 not being not good to be left in airguns for a long time is true or false, with this, you don't have to worry about it and leave it in the gun at all, lol. There's another cool option for these. A $50 part that converts 12-gram CO2 carts. to fire in this gun. It's a machined metal canister, that houses 2 (or 3?) 12 gram CO2 carts and is also made by Umarex. Saw a guy test them and they give you about 10-12 shots. Not bad considering a full-size one gives you maybe 30-40. So if you only want to do a short, cheap shooting session without any full-size canister hassle and storing it and worrying about it slowly leaking out over time or something like the guns themselves do? Then that, is the perfect alternative. Filler 'er up, shoot 10-12 shots and empty, no leftovers. The flexibility of this thing is very cool. They were really thinking with the accessories on those. Really smart accessories, not stupid. I immediately bought the CO2 Saver, cause it was cheap and logical. Those big canisters aren't cheap and the ability to save them, outside the gun is not only convenient, but better for the law and transportation. Depending on where you live and storage/transportation laws, that could be really useful. Like a magazine, not only has to be empty, but also not in the gun in storage/transportation either. There could be laws around transporting/storing something like this, in a "ready to fire" state as well. But not with this, the ability to fire is not in the gun, the CO2, so zero issues. The other option, when worked out math wise (someone on KZfaq did, lol) loading it with 2 or 3 12 gram CO2's worked out "slightly" cheaper per shot overall too than the big ones. Not much, 2-4 cents a shot maybe I think? But cheaper and ideal for doing just a few shots and could certainly be worth it if it fits your needs. You don't "have to" fire the big ones at all if you don't want. With that part you could shoot 12 gram carts exclusively. That canister converter is worth $50, it looks equally solid to my CO2 Saver and a quality piece worth it's price. And it may slowly pay for itself with those pennies saved on shots, hehe.

@kidpellet6544
@kidpellet6544 3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you can get it pretty low by just changing the hammer spring with a lighter one. Pretty easy to get to and you should be able to find one at a hardware store or big box store. If not theres an online springstore.com that should be able to help. Just get a couple different ones to try. The more complicated way but probably would have more consistency is to put a an HPA regulated bottle on it and turn the regulator down. I've not shot a fish with mine yet but 300 fps seems a little hot unless the fish is pretty big

Other than my 1st born this is perhaps the best news I've ever heard lol.. Actually I don't have any kids But this is still pretty damn good. Been wanting to convert to PCP. I have LOTS of PCP stuff considering I've been building and tinkering with the sorts since 2005. Anywhoo thank you for finding this awesome little tidbit... I do have a question though. (I Just bought the Air Jav a few days ago so I'm still an Infant with it) How much can you safely or even unsafe turn up the pressure on this Air Arrow Rifle..? I've watched a few Videos and most are staying in the 850-1100 range.. If I turn up the Juice on the hammer spring could I get away with 1500 psi ? Or would that inflict possible valve lock or worse blow out your seals.. Would it need a heavier hammer ? Any input or advice would be appreciated.. Thanks for ALL your Videos they are by far the most informative
@kidpellet6544
@kidpellet6544 2 жыл бұрын
I've had 1100 psi in mine with not much change in velocity at all. Possibly needs a little stiffer spring. Havent had much time to mess with it for a while. Ive heard the new Air Javelin Pro is regulated to 1500 psi but dont know if it has the same valve body. If you look inside yours you'll see a cast aluminum valve body with caps held in place by cross pins. I'm a little afraid of the valve body mostly because its cast aluminum and a little because of the pins. If it was machined from billet aluminum I wouldn't be that afraid. I really only converted mine to get away from the co2 and I already had the Gauntlet to rob the regulated bottle from. If you look through the videos you'll see the inside and the valve body. I've had mine completely apart figuring I could find some sort of air restrictions I could open up. Every passage is about the size of the barrel itself so there really wasn't much to open up. I think the answer is a little more weight in the hammer and stiffer spring, maybe. It's a relatively short barrel to get that much weight moving. If it were a pellet gun and you were trying to get a projectile moving faster you would get further with more air pressure than anything else. If I could confirm the AJ Pro has the same valve body I would bump mine up to 1500 psi also. I'm going to get one when I can just to tear into lol. I also have an Air Javelin FB group you can share your ideas in if you want

Hat's off to you sir! When I was a boy and one of my toy's broke that's when it became a educational toy! Soooooooooo, cool discovery my friend! I wonder if the adjustment is there as a legality thing. You know like in the UK where the Jules are regulated on airguns (stupid right?) Nothing should be controlled by any government over any law abiding citizen! If I choose to own a tank with a working barrel (not sure the correct tanker terminology I was a medic) I should be able to after passing a tank ownership background check. So I wonder how this effects co2 usage because I bought the dual 12g adapter and only get about 3-4 usable shots. With the 88g I get around 30. I don't think I've really saved any money. How do I get a conversion from CO2 to compressed air for my javelin
@kidpellet6544
@kidpellet6544 3 жыл бұрын
If you have a regulated tank and hose you just need to drill and tap your used 88/90 gram co2 for a fill nipple and shoot tethered. If you want a bottled setup you'll need a regulated bottle, a bottle adapter and yet another adapter so the bottle adapter will fit the gun. Search these videos and you'll see them. Just a heads up,if you dont already have some of this stuff like the regulated bottle, it costs about the same as the Air Javelin did. My adapter is $10 + shipping Archers bottle adapter is luke $46 + shipping. And the regulated bottles are like $50 to $100 on ebay. I only did mine because I had everything but the adapter that I make. If you buy it all your going to have roughly $300 into it and the Air Sabre is like $400. So it's great if you just like doing stuff like this or really want to save a few bucks its probably not that cost effective lol.

I got a few crossbow bolts with 100 grain field tips. They shoot noticeably slower for sure so you would have a little more drop. As long as you know where to aim for the distances you should be fine out to 30 yards or so. I want to say it shot them at around 270 fps but not positive. Somewhere around that velocity if it's much further than 30 yards the game can hear the shot before the bolt gets to them.
