Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse wore these in da 94 ncaa tournament. I had these in 94, their true to form. The new era of sneakerheads, call these & the "10" "Powder blue". The Tarheels played in both of them.💯!!

These are an og colorway. The thing with the UNC colorway was that they were released for all star weekend. The outsole of the 8 is what was carried over into the 9. The dip in the center. Similar, not the same. And the globe on the heel cup ties into the international theme of how Jordan approached the game in different languages.

@mikerich2323 these were apart of UNCs team shoes during the time of Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse era. Of course, MJ was out of the NBA and playing baseball at the time, and that why they don’t have a 23 on the back because that’s how this color way originally came.

I'm the same way about the military blue 4s, didn't know they were an og colorway back in 06. I didn't like them in 06 or 2012/2013. I'm just getting them to complete my 4s collection and they do like better in the new shape. This girl in my 4th or 5th grade class had the powder blue 9s and my homeboy had the black/white 9s, my neighbor across the street had the olives. I was 5 years old when the 4s originally came out. By 1994/95 at 10 or 11 years old, i was a full blown sneaker head😂 6s and 7s are my favorites

A couple reason from what I heard over the years to why the 23 is not featured. They originally released in 1994 to start. The original 9 was designed with the 23 on the back because it was prior to his retirement. The brand didn’t know he would retired when the shoes were sent to be made. Shoes are prepped and such 18 months out from release. Once rumblings were heard he was going to retire the shoe was to be worn by many other players and college teams. The PE versions for some players had their numbers while college teams didn’t have anything. It was a clean slate look they wanted to go for as the shoe was not being worn by him anymore

This may have been the first Carolina Blue Color wave period in the 90’s. He did a photo shoot for them in the Carolina gear. I don’t know if they true og’s with out the 23 on the back like the original

I’m old enough to remember when these came out originally; I was in 8th grade. There was no “23” on the back. My teammate wore the black and white c/w, but when these and the Charcoal 9s came out, we were rocking with them heavy! I’m either gonna grab these or the Olives. Dope O.G. colorways. Having a black tongue is best, bc it’s impossible to keep white tongues clean, but easier to protect/clean a white upper, even if it’s a lot of white.

We need the 55 Jordan X, feel it’ll be an easier cop nowadays
